I stopped in here with my wife and kids while on a family vacation as this was my wife's turn to pick the food. The food was good, though not really my taste. The kids had a great time, my wife has told everyone about this place, I will definitely take them back if we ever come through the area again

Food tastes great. Very small place and mostly crowded sometimes hard to find a place to sit.
Best option would be to order a takeout.
They make amazing falafel! Crispy and flavorful!
I would definitely recommend this place.

If the restaurants of Iowa City were constilations in the sky, Oasis Falafel would be its North Star: if you have no idea where to go to eat or if you want consistent culinary enjoyment, just head to Oasis, it'll guide your stomach home.

Love the Falafel here (happens to be vegan)! Plus yummy cabbage and sauces! I go here every time I'm in Iowa. It's my absolute favorite. I like that they have vegan options, so the whole family has something. Also, I've yet to find a better hummus. You can buy hummus tubs to go from them, but it can also be found at New Pioneer Co-op and I believe some Hy-Vee's.

I travel to Iowa City regularly, and Oasis Falafel is the only place I eat every time I visit. The chicken shawarma and lamb skewer are both great, but the highlight for me is the eggplant salad.

The best falafel I've had, better than the paces I've gone in Chicago and Minneapolis that friends in those cities report are the best in those cities. The two families' fathers that own Oasis work in the restaurant daily and less a great staff who say they're great bosses. They're pillars of philanthropy in the community's arts and events. They also do great catering. I also admit to liking their fries. And although their baklava is just imported from Chicago, it's great baklava. Lamb and chicken schwarma are also fantastic.

Only place that I know of to get good Mediteranian food so far. My family loves it. Pita chips and hummus are the most amazing thing on the menu, or in the area, to most. Regularly serves University students and locals.

Because of the delicious food and quick service, the small space can get quite crowded. But it is worth it! Great falafel, lamb, and all sorts of salads. The mideastern eggplant salad was delicious, and I don't even like eggplant!

It's Oasis Falafel. If you're a local, you've probably eaten here. It's one of Iowa City's specalties. If you're not a local, give it a try! They are best known for their Falafel. All of their Pita Sand-witches come with one. My advice, however, is to get a platter, with two sides, instead of a sandwich.

Don't get the Red or Green Cabbage coleslaw as a side. Your meal will come with unlimited coleslaw so long as you eat in store.

Oasis is a reliable and quick place to grab some tasty fresh food. Their portions are quite generous (in house or to-go) and orders are typically spot on. Seating can be limited so weather permitting I will take my food to go and have it picnic style.

Wowza!! The falafel sandwiches were huge, tasty, & perfect. We had The Gyro & Chicken falafel sandwiches. Veggies were fresh, meat was perfect, and the sauce on each was delicious. You've got to try this neat little Mediterranean restaurant in the middle of Iowa City.

Nice place for quick Mediterranean food. The prices are a little high for what you get, and for being a "quick eats" restaurant the food didn't come out very quickly. However, this just pinta to the fact that you are getting food that has been freshly made and that is really good quality!

I love a place with great home-made freebies, adds a touch of generosity to the restaurant. They offer two home-made sauces (mango and a white, creamy sauce) and you can top your pitas with two pickled cabbage salads, both fantastic and not tart like sauerkraut, really hit a nice combination of sweet, sour, and savory. I had a grilled plate with gyro meat and lamb skewer with sides of tabouleh and falafel. Everything was great and served quickly. Atmosphere was cafeteria-like, so you'll have to self-bus at the end of your meal.

Forgot to grab a photo. But I scarfed down a chicken gyro. I remember liking the white coleslaw more than the red one. There were also some sauce jams available. I put them all on the sando. It was delicious.

Favorite falafel joint in the Corridor. Very popular with the college students as it's next to the university. Some good vegetarian/vegan options, including the falafel. There's a topping bar that has a few different sauces and cabbage for your falafel. The cozy little building can be a challenge for larger groups, but you can make it work.

Unbelievable! I was visiting from Milwaukee, WI and had read about places to eat, when I saw this one I had to try it. I believe the owners have a passion for good Mediterranean food. ( Also the owners were there which is important to me). The Shawarma was delicious and the Falafel was wonderful. Also the Tabouleh was very good. We will return. It would be nice to find a place like this in Milwaukee . Thank you!

Beyond ridiculous stood outside to order and got yelled at for not having my mask. I drove 30mins away, there s no power in Cedar Rapids to have this happen. It s outside open air. I will never again. No one was within 10feet of us.

Hands down my favorite restaurant in Iowa City. The falafel is irresistible. Prices are extremely reasonable. Everything is fresh and wholesome and leaves your tummy feeling happy. I go here at least once a week.

I had an amazing experience here for lunch. Everything is very fresh here and made to order. I had the Pad Kee Mao and it came with miso soup and an egg roll. The flavor of my dish was amazing. It came out so hot and was just delicious. The soup also tasted like it was just made. My whole party was impressed.

Is this the greatest middle eastern food you'll ever eat? No. Is it very serviceable middle eastern food at a nice locally-owned spot with friendly staff and an emphasis on community service? Absolutely. You should eat here immediately and help spots like this survive the pandemic. Get the Morroccan salad.

Don't know how Iowa City got a place that serves falafel this good, but I'm certainly not going to complain about it. Even if you think you don't like falafel, you should try this place, because it's so much better than normal it's almost a different dish.

Definitely the best falafel and hummus in the Midwest (and I used to live near Dearborn!) I'd prefer the mujadra to have a better lentil to rice ratio--as in more lentils and less rice--but that's a minor quibble. I did find it very strange that they don't serve a lemon wedge with the hummus--when I asked, the lady at the counter gave me a puzzled look and produced two little packets of lemon juice. Bring your own lemon, I guess?

Loved the food and atmosphere! This is a quaint little place perfect for a snack or a meal and the food is PERFECT! I will definitely be back and will definitely tell friends! Chicken swarma, falafel, and hummus on a pita with a perfectly seasoned cucumber salad. Yes, yes, yes! Best food I've had out in awhile.

I always tell people if you've never tried Mediterranean food and Oasis is your first experience, it will ruin you on other Mediterranean foods. It definitely ruined me on both hummus and Falafel, it's so good! Any city in the US I've been to and tried their areas "Amazing falafel place" just misses the mark, because I'm expecting Oasis. There was one place in Denver that came close... anyway food here is amazing! If you're a newcomer I recommend the Sultans plate- you can try a bunch of different sides, and you get SO MUCH FOOD. The food does make me pretty **GaSsY** but definitely worth it!

Top 3 places to eat lunch in Iowa City. Don't let the menu intimidate you. Get a pita sandwich with chicken or lamb and you'll be fine. Everything they make is delicious though and it gets more interesting than pita sandwiches.

One of our top local small businesses in Iowa City! As always, food, staff and owners are great! Please stay strong during this difficult time! We love you guys very much!
To all the other patrons, I as another business owner, encourage you to concentrate your reviews on food, quality and service! As local small businesses continue to hurt financially and work through many challenges please be kind and follow each ones policies and guidelines. Each business owner has had the responsibility of protecting their own business, including their staff, and their customers. It is very sad and devastating to see these small businesses not survive. Limited hours are hard for convenience but better than none! If their staff wears a mask for you behind their window, then please respect their request and honor it by just wearing one too! Every deserving small business needs your full support and positive thoughts, not your negative comments and reviews about having to wear a mask or having limited hours!

Oasis is an amazing local restaurant providing great service and outstanding food. Oasis catered my wedding and helped make the day a success. Ofer was very helpful during the planning process and quickly responded to any questions we had for him. Oasis will always be one of my favorite Iowa City restaurants!

I've eaten here many times, and it is always great. (*Note that I am lacto-vegetarian so I have no idea how the meat dishes are here. But I can vouch for the vegetarian/vegan options!) It gets 5 stars not for being a 5 star restaurant (it's not) but for being consistently great at what it is: a fast-casual sandwich place. It's not the best Middle Eastern food I've ever eaten, but it is a FANTASTIC falafel joint. The wait staff is always friendly. Sometimes it gets a little packed, which is not a sin. If I have any complaints at all, they are super minor: when you order pita chips you get way more than a human can eat, and when you order a side of hummus you don't get extra pita with it -- you have to order that too. But this is a place that changed my mind about the edibility of cucumbers: when was the last time you started liking a vegetable you have hated since childhood?! I rest my case.

the food is so disappointing. All y'all reviewing with 5 stars have never had good Mediterranean food! The Falafel tasted like it was old and stale and reheated. The pita bread was SO THICK. I will say their Baklava was good. HOW DO YOU EVEN BUTCHER BABA GANOUCH! Do not recommend. For good middle eastern food check out Pita'z in Cedar rapids.

About Oasis Falafel

Oasis Falafel: Iowa City's Fresh Mediterranean Cuisine

If you're looking for a taste of the Mediterranean in Iowa City, look no further than Oasis Falafel. This local restaurant offers fresh, flavorful dishes inspired by the cuisine of the Middle East and North Africa.

Open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Oasis Falafel is the perfect spot for lunch, dinner, or a quick bite on-the-go. Whether you're dining in, carrying out, or having your meal delivered straight to your door, you'll be treated to delicious food made with high-quality ingredients.

One of the standout items on Oasis Falafel's menu is their namesake dish: falafel. These crispy chickpea fritters are served in a pita with lettuce, tomato, cucumber and tahini sauce. They're vegetarian-friendly and packed with protein and fiber.

But falafel isn't the only thing that Oasis Falafel does well. Their menu also includes shawarma (thinly sliced meat cooked on a spit), kebabs (grilled meat skewers), hummus (a creamy dip made from chickpeas), baba ghanoush (a smoky eggplant dip), tabbouleh (a parsley-based salad) and more.

All of these dishes are made fresh daily using locally-sourced ingredients whenever possible. The restaurant also offers gluten-free options for those with dietary restrictions.

In addition to their delicious food offerings, Oasis Falafel is committed to sustainability and community involvement. They use compostable packaging whenever possible and donate leftover food to local charities at the end of each day.

Overall, if you're looking for fresh Mediterranean cuisine in Iowa City that won't break the bank or compromise on quality or flavor - then look no further than Oasis Falafel!
