Very good food. Falafel was amazing crispy and soft. Friendly service and at a great price. Definitely worth the stop.
Very good food. Falafel was amazing crispy and soft. Friendly service and at a great price. Definitely worth the stop.
I stopped in here with my wife and kids while on a family vacation as this was my wife's turn to pick the food. The food was good, though not really my taste. The kids had a great time, my wife has told everyone about this place, I will definitely take them back if we ever come through the area again
Be sure to order something that includes the falafel! So tasty.
Oasis is a staple in iowa city. Always my first recommendation to anyone. The food is always hot to order, fast, serviced with a smile, and so SO SoOoOo tasty. I have NEVER been disappointed, always beyond satisfied and so full.
Food tastes great. Very small place and mostly crowded sometimes hard to find a place to sit.
Best option would be to order a takeout.
They make amazing falafel! Crispy and flavorful!
I would definitely recommend this place.
Great lunch at a great prince! Fantastic flavor combinations.
You kind of have to know what you want. Not something for a first timer!
Great food great people. Some of the food is halal.
If the restaurants of Iowa City were constilations in the sky, Oasis Falafel would be its North Star: if you have no idea where to go to eat or if you want consistent culinary enjoyment, just head to Oasis, it'll guide your stomach home.
Great vegetarian and vegan options. Best falafel sammiches and hummus anywhere. Great veggie kabobs, awesome fries...too much to list!
Love the Falafel here (happens to be vegan)! Plus yummy cabbage and sauces! I go here every time I'm in Iowa. It's my absolute favorite. I like that they have vegan options, so the whole family has something. Also, I've yet to find a better hummus. You can buy hummus tubs to go from them, but it can also be found at New Pioneer Co-op and I believe some Hy-Vee's.
The absolute best hummus in the world!!! Small dining area in center of college campus. Hummus and pitas available in many local grocers.
Decent middle Eastern street food, but it would be nice if they had more authentic plates.
One of my favorite restaurants in Iowa City. Great food at good prices, vegetarian options, active in the community.
I travel to Iowa City regularly, and Oasis Falafel is the only place I eat every time I visit. The chicken shawarma and lamb skewer are both great, but the highlight for me is the eggplant salad.
The best falafel I've had, better than the paces I've gone in Chicago and Minneapolis that friends in those cities report are the best in those cities. The two families' fathers that own Oasis work in the restaurant daily and less a great staff who say they're great bosses. They're pillars of philanthropy in the community's arts and events. They also do great catering. I also admit to liking their fries. And although their baklava is just imported from Chicago, it's great baklava. Lamb and chicken schwarma are also fantastic.
Amazing customer service! Their fries are to die for and the falafel was DELICIOUS. I would give this a better rating if I could!!!
Overpriced food. Hummus was the only thing I will be back for. Really disappointed in the quality of the product. Lamb overcooked, pita dry and everything sorely underseasoned.
Only place that I know of to get good Mediteranian food so far. My family loves it. Pita chips and hummus are the most amazing thing on the menu, or in the area, to most. Regularly serves University students and locals.
The food was delicious! First of all, the presentation was impeccable and beautiful.
Because of the delicious food and quick service, the small space can get quite crowded. But it is worth it! Great falafel, lamb, and all sorts of salads. The mideastern eggplant salad was delicious, and I don't even like eggplant!
Great food, possibly the best fries in the city, but limited seating.
It is a quaint little Mediterain resturant downtown Ia City. I just thought it was pretty ok. Not much for middle eastern food i guess.
Amazing and cozy... Great if you inviting friends or family... Not for romantic date..
Best falafels in town! Best hummus! Wonderful menu. Great place to catch Middle Eastern food on the go. Or sit and enjoy a Turkish coffee.
They have really good humus. The best I have ever had. The food is authentic and reasonably priced. And the staff is both friendly and knowledgeable.
It's Oasis Falafel. If you're a local, you've probably eaten here. It's one of Iowa City's specalties. If you're not a local, give it a try! They are best known for their Falafel. All of their Pita Sand-witches come with one. My advice, however, is to get a platter, with two sides, instead of a sandwich.
Don't get the Red or Green Cabbage coleslaw as a side. Your meal will come with unlimited coleslaw so long as you eat in store.
Oasis is a reliable and quick place to grab some tasty fresh food. Their portions are quite generous (in house or to-go) and orders are typically spot on. Seating can be limited so weather permitting I will take my food to go and have it picnic style.
Delicious! This is the spot I take friends to eat when they visit from out of town...and the spot I go whenever I'm hungry. If you get a punch card, you'll plow through it quickly! :)
So good! Not so easy to find lamb in US but the one served by this restaurant is very tasty. Besides, people are nice and helpful.
I definitively recommend this place
Wowza!! The falafel sandwiches were huge, tasty, & perfect. We had The Gyro & Chicken falafel sandwiches. Veggies were fresh, meat was perfect, and the sauce on each was delicious. You've got to try this neat little Mediterranean restaurant in the middle of Iowa City.
Nice place for quick Mediterranean food. The prices are a little high for what you get, and for being a "quick eats" restaurant the food didn't come out very quickly. However, this just pinta to the fact that you are getting food that has been freshly made and that is really good quality!
Very tasty food, good vegan options, and reasonable pricing. Nice little place to grab a healthy Mediterranean bite to eat.
I m so starving for Oasis, my favorite place in Iowa City and possibly all of Iowa. Please open on Saturdays soon. We love your menu, the people and the atmosphere too!
Lots of different options to try from and it's all delicious!
I love a place with great home-made freebies, adds a touch of generosity to the restaurant. They offer two home-made sauces (mango and a white, creamy sauce) and you can top your pitas with two pickled cabbage salads, both fantastic and not tart like sauerkraut, really hit a nice combination of sweet, sour, and savory. I had a grilled plate with gyro meat and lamb skewer with sides of tabouleh and falafel. Everything was great and served quickly. Atmosphere was cafeteria-like, so you'll have to self-bus at the end of your meal.
I have never had a bad experience here.
The food quality is always great and consistent in flavor and portions.
There fries.. oh man there fries are the best in Iowa City in my opinion.
Clean, clean, clean.
Always leave feeling full and content.
Forgot to grab a photo. But I scarfed down a chicken gyro. I remember liking the white coleslaw more than the red one. There were also some sauce jams available. I put them all on the sando. It was delicious.
Amazing food, excellent service, nothing like it anywhere else! Try the falafel and hummus! So good!
Favorite falafel joint in the Corridor. Very popular with the college students as it's next to the university. Some good vegetarian/vegan options, including the falafel. There's a topping bar that has a few different sauces and cabbage for your falafel. The cozy little building can be a challenge for larger groups, but you can make it work.
Good food. Atmosphere fits the food and nice friendly service. I'm not a fan of the Turkish Coffee... but you maybe!
Unbelievable! I was visiting from Milwaukee, WI and had read about places to eat, when I saw this one I had to try it. I believe the owners have a passion for good Mediterranean food. ( Also the owners were there which is important to me). The Shawarma was delicious and the Falafel was wonderful. Also the Tabouleh was very good. We will return. It would be nice to find a place like this in Milwaukee . Thank you!
Beyond ridiculous stood outside to order and got yelled at for not having my mask. I drove 30mins away, there s no power in Cedar Rapids to have this happen. It s outside open air. I will never again. No one was within 10feet of us.
I have been neglecting the falafel here for too long. Don't repeat my mistake! Go to Oasis and eat the falafel! Frequently. It should make you happier.
Always love their food and atmosphere. Best hummus in town. Try the Turkish coffee! And ask for seasoning on the fries
Hands down my favorite restaurant in Iowa City. The falafel is irresistible. Prices are extremely reasonable. Everything is fresh and wholesome and leaves your tummy feeling happy. I go here at least once a week.
Food is great. But the place is pathetic. It took 30 mins for a plate of falafel. Go there if you have 2 hours of free time. Haven t had such a slow service ever
Always have Oasis when we pass through Iowa City, best restaurant in town. Affordable, socially concious, chill staff, amazing falafel.
I had an amazing experience here for lunch. Everything is very fresh here and made to order. I had the Pad Kee Mao and it came with miso soup and an egg roll. The flavor of my dish was amazing. It came out so hot and was just delicious. The soup also tasted like it was just made. My whole party was impressed.
The best falafel in town. They keep it simple and delicious. Fast service and friendly workers. Try the pita chips!
This was the first place I ever had Mediterranean food and I don't think anything will ever top it!
The best dam sandwich I ever had in awhile ,.. awesome! From georgia, awesome!
Is this the greatest middle eastern food you'll ever eat? No. Is it very serviceable middle eastern food at a nice locally-owned spot with friendly staff and an emphasis on community service? Absolutely. You should eat here immediately and help spots like this survive the pandemic. Get the Morroccan salad.
Not impressed at. Greek salad bore no resemblance to actual Greek salad. Schwarma was also not typical of what we have had on the middle east.
Food was amazing!! Night was busy...waited a few minutes for our food. But so worth it!!
Great falafel. Excellent chicken skewers and reasonable fries. Hummus is original Israeli and delicious. Recommended for a nice middle eastern dish.
Best hummus ever! I m middle eastern a and I approve this message
Great service, Great Food! Quaint Lil spot in IC and will definitely get food from there again. The wife Loved it, Thanks Emily for the recommendations
Don't know how Iowa City got a place that serves falafel this good, but I'm certainly not going to complain about it. Even if you think you don't like falafel, you should try this place, because it's so much better than normal it's almost a different dish.
Great food for reasonable price. The person who served us was super nice.
Definitely the best falafel and hummus in the Midwest (and I used to live near Dearborn!) I'd prefer the mujadra to have a better lentil to rice ratio--as in more lentils and less rice--but that's a minor quibble. I did find it very strange that they don't serve a lemon wedge with the hummus--when I asked, the lady at the counter gave me a puzzled look and produced two little packets of lemon juice. Bring your own lemon, I guess?
Everytime I m in town, I make sure to visit this place! Some of the best Mediterranean food I ve ever had.
Each time I eat at Oasis Felafel, I think it's the best it has ever tasted!! Fresh, flavorful and served by friendly staff.
Yum! Everything they offer here is wonderful and fresh. I'm addicted to their pita bread and hummus. Their fries are also incredible. Staff is very friendly.
Loved the food and atmosphere! This is a quaint little place perfect for a snack or a meal and the food is PERFECT! I will definitely be back and will definitely tell friends! Chicken swarma, falafel, and hummus on a pita with a perfectly seasoned cucumber salad. Yes, yes, yes! Best food I've had out in awhile.
I always tell people if you've never tried Mediterranean food and Oasis is your first experience, it will ruin you on other Mediterranean foods. It definitely ruined me on both hummus and Falafel, it's so good! Any city in the US I've been to and tried their areas "Amazing falafel place" just misses the mark, because I'm expecting Oasis. There was one place in Denver that came close... anyway food here is amazing! If you're a newcomer I recommend the Sultans plate- you can try a bunch of different sides, and you get SO MUCH FOOD. The food does make me pretty **GaSsY** but definitely worth it!
Top 3 places to eat lunch in Iowa City. Don't let the menu intimidate you. Get a pita sandwich with chicken or lamb and you'll be fine. Everything they make is delicious though and it gets more interesting than pita sandwiches.
One of our top local small businesses in Iowa City! As always, food, staff and owners are great! Please stay strong during this difficult time! We love you guys very much!
To all the other patrons, I as another business owner, encourage you to concentrate your reviews on food, quality and service! As local small businesses continue to hurt financially and work through many challenges please be kind and follow each ones policies and guidelines. Each business owner has had the responsibility of protecting their own business, including their staff, and their customers. It is very sad and devastating to see these small businesses not survive. Limited hours are hard for convenience but better than none! If their staff wears a mask for you behind their window, then please respect their request and honor it by just wearing one too! Every deserving small business needs your full support and positive thoughts, not your negative comments and reviews about having to wear a mask or having limited hours!
Oasis is an amazing local restaurant providing great service and outstanding food. Oasis catered my wedding and helped make the day a success. Ofer was very helpful during the planning process and quickly responded to any questions we had for him. Oasis will always be one of my favorite Iowa City restaurants!
I've eaten here many times, and it is always great. (*Note that I am lacto-vegetarian so I have no idea how the meat dishes are here. But I can vouch for the vegetarian/vegan options!) It gets 5 stars not for being a 5 star restaurant (it's not) but for being consistently great at what it is: a fast-casual sandwich place. It's not the best Middle Eastern food I've ever eaten, but it is a FANTASTIC falafel joint. The wait staff is always friendly. Sometimes it gets a little packed, which is not a sin. If I have any complaints at all, they are super minor: when you order pita chips you get way more than a human can eat, and when you order a side of hummus you don't get extra pita with it -- you have to order that too. But this is a place that changed my mind about the edibility of cucumbers: when was the last time you started liking a vegetable you have hated since childhood?! I rest my case.
Really good arabic food, love it.
I like that they have tahini sauce unlemeted
Best Mediterranean restaurant around.
Genie's plate is my favorite item to get.
Wow, delicious and so many flavors! Very affordable as well.
the food is so disappointing. All y'all reviewing with 5 stars have never had good Mediterranean food! The Falafel tasted like it was old and stale and reheated. The pita bread was SO THICK. I will say their Baklava was good. HOW DO YOU EVEN BUTCHER BABA GANOUCH! Do not recommend. For good middle eastern food check out Pita'z in Cedar rapids.
To be frank ambience is not good! The shawarma is also not so great. Quantity is good. Also, I don't like the Turkish coffee here.
Amazing staff and food is well portioned and reasonably priced! Probably the best Mediterranean food in town.
Fair prices. Fresh food everyone can enjoy. Cozy restaurant.
The best falafel I have had anywhere. My favorites are the Chicken Shawarma + Falafel or Gyro + Falafel Pita sandwiches.
Good food but it is very small and very busy. They also don't have the greatest service
Stellar food, incredible depth on the menu, awesome staff and laid back atmosphere. 10/10 would eat here again.
My favorite restaurant! I can't count how many times I've gone! Great price for great food!
Oasis Falafel: Iowa City's Fresh Mediterranean Cuisine

All of these dishes are made fresh daily using locally-sourced ingredients whenever possible. The restaurant also offers gluten-free options for those with dietary restrictions.
In addition to their delicious food offerings, Oasis Falafel is committed to sustainability and community involvement. They use compostable packaging whenever possible and donate leftover food to local charities at the end of each day.
