Teachers don't wait until the last minute to visit and find out about your retirement status. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable .
They took too much money out of my family member's bank account after she passed away (with no explanation why) and then blamed it on the bank. The letter they sent me reads: "the bank refunded more money than required". YEAH RIGHT. That was obviously because YOU requested too much money. And now, NYS wants all kinds of estate documents in order to issue a check back - which takes MONTHS to get from the court. AND I'm getting screwed out of this money because I was a beneficiary on the bank account they took it from, whereas now they are just going to issue a check to the estate to settle the matter, therefore screwing me out of the money. Thanks new york retirement system for screwing me over!!
