Novotel Wollongong Northbeach Reviews

Staff were very accommodating, friendly and sympathetic. My partner and I were visiting Wollongong for a funeral, and they reduced the cost of our room by almost $100 per night. I was blown away and felt warmed right to the cockles of my heart.

Not only that, but on our first night, we had dinner in the restaurant buffet, which was really yum and great value for money. We ordered two last drinks, but they took a while coming, so we decided to head up to bed and cancel the drinks. Well, knock me down again, they brought up not only a complimentary bourbon for my partner, but a free BOTTLE of wine for me!

The room itself was comfortable, nicely furnished, with beautiful ocean views. The shower was awesome as was the complimentary shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. Usually that stuff dries the skin or hair, but this didn't, so I was happy!

If we had a complaint at all, it was that the pillows weren't all that great. The standard ones were too soft and we weren't keen on the square ones. But that's the only negative. The bed was awesome - just soft enough but not squishy.

Overall, definitely a 5 star stay, and I'd recommend the Novotel Wollongong to anyone.

A nice hotel right on the North Wollongong beachfront. The rooms are clean and functional however the windows could use slightly longer curtains to block out the light. A few cafes around on the beachfront for a morning coffee after breakfast in the hotel. Would stay here again.

Lovely people. Love staying here. Never disappointed. Catherine upgraded us and even sent a bottle of wine up to the room. I just told her how much we love staying here

The 6 day stay was great nice view to beach on the 6 th floor customer service was great and happy to help
needed a few places to eat pizza delivery and hanna at reception went out of her way to find this and bring me numbers to my hotel door :) in room service was kind and great staff for cleaning was great room done nice but the lift got stuck once very scary as they seem shonky needs to also be renovated the car park was a nightmare wow! either no parking or you had to dodge all the pipes and poles in the car park to not damage your car I would say maybe the staff should check at reception for who is there next to where the family wants to check in I would say we are a couple and after just relaxing but next door was with family kids making noise all night and morning jumping around perhaps they should be put next door to another family on other level

Amazing hotel and location. Endless ocean views. Hotel stay was awesome and staff where always helpful and friendly. I will always return yearly in summer.

Well done to all staff for the cleanliness and good covid practises during this time. The relocation of the restaurant to lvl 4 worked pretty well. Look for to seeing you again after the ground floor renovations are done.

Stayed here on a day when it was very hot and recieved an upgrade to an ocean view room. The view was fantastic. Ordered room service and the meals were delicious. Highly recommended

Very nice rooms, some with nice views, others not so nice. Reception very helpful, parking a bit awkward but adequate.

We came back to this hotel to celebrate our engagement.
We previously stayed a month ago and asked for an ocean view room. We did the same this time and we got a room with twice the ocean views.
The room was excellent and the bed was very comfortable.
Location is perfect. We walked along the foreshore and had coffee at the harbour cafe.
Staff were efficient and friendly.
The overall stay was amazing.
Definitely will be back.

We all family members had a great time on our stay at Novotel, woolongong. Got a clear perfect beach view from our room, Close to beach and city centre, healthy breakfast, what else do we need for a family holiday

We went here for a few drinks at the lobby on a Sunday arvo, the staff were really chatty & friendly, and really knew how to make the the cocktails we were ordering we have also been there to an intimate acoustic gig there, the sound was grand & the place is really classy.

Fantastic buffet, some at our table ordered from the menu and we're equally impressed. Patrick the waiter was amazing too, nothing was too much trouble!

Location is spectacular, situated right near north Wollongong beach. The wait staff was very attentive. As a venue for work functions or weddings, the ballroom is spacious and acoustics were very good, especially for such a large room.

Great place but gets busy on weekends so expect to wait for service then

It was my birthday and when I made the booking and asked if I could get a free upgrade, well little did I know when we were at check in I had got my free upgrade to the best ocean view room possible beautiful room !! Plus a complimentary wine we were over the moon!!! I will only ever stay and book with novotel they never let down and I couldn't be more happier with my birthday weekend xxx

Friendly and helpful staff, rooms great, immaculately cleaned daily, only had one meal at Novotel when we used room service and it was fine and arrived promptly, great location, definitely will stay again.

As regular guests it never disappoints. Our room was spacious & clean. Bed & linen super comfortable. View is spectacular. The staff are always so lovely & welcoming. One of our favourite places to go when we can sneak away for a night.

The room was great and looks to be recently refurbished, definitely worth the money. Free in-house movie didn't work as there was no instruction on how to access it, fiddled with the TV remote for a good 15 minutes, but gave up and can't be bothered to seek assistance.

Paid $64 for the buffet breakfast (2 Adults and 2 kids), and the venue was more like a canteen, than a proper breakfast joint in a 4 star hotel. The cheap chairs and tables seriously needs to be replaced, it was warm and humid with minimal air-conditioning. And the level of noise made the whole experience felt very cheap. The food was average and it is not something to look forward to, if guest were there for multiple days.

The building itself (apart from the rooms) felt dated and tired for a 4 star Novotel. I have interacted with 3 front-line members at the reception and I will give them 10/10 for their service, friendliness and politeness.

Often frequent the Novotel restaurant. Food is great, love the buffet. Staff are good.

Unfortunately it's starting to look a bit worn inside. Also on the rainy day we were there water leaked inside and around our table.

Helpful friendly staff. Freshly refurbished rooms ~ very nice and super comfy beds. Winter special includes breakfast, with a view and glorious sunshine (on the morning I was there :-)

Absolutely loved it very convenient location, very nice areas around it, very close to the beach like across street.
Just the parking is little awkward and not worth $15 and to be honest scary at night haha.

Good resturants around just be careful some are expensive and yuk!. Read the menu first

But the Novotel hotel food is ok. Breakfast is expensive but overall is good quality and taste.
Free of charge to room deliver which is great!!.
Also they offer midnight 11pm until 5am? food for late sleepers which what we love for people who want to stay late in such beautiful area.

Hotel has many relaxing and quite areas for reading a book or just chilling with your drink from the bar under which is fantastic.

Gym, sauna is available very clean and organized.

Staff is very helpful, cheerful, and friendly which makes dealing with Novotel extra joy.
They answered all our questions effortlessly and they never showed gloomy face.

To be honest i suggest Wollongong Novotel hotel to be on your list.

Old lady in the pokie room she's very rude I can't believe someone like her can work there. The hotel is very good besides the staff in the pokie room.

Recently refurbished. My room was much bigger than expected. Overall better than all previous Novotel experiences. Great location right on the beach.

The elevators definately need replacing. Very unnerving riding in them.

From check in with the wonderful Donald to a great room - comfortable, clean and quiet - we were delighted with our Novotel stay. Breakfast was probably the only disappointment - there was a good array but missed an egg station with a chef cooking omelettes and eggs to order - always helps when staying at a great place. I also overheard an Asian lady saying she found it lacking in catering to the Asian market - not sure what the rate is for Asians visiting but I know at other good hotels, there is an Asian 'breakfast' section where they can have what they are more comfortable with rather than a western breakfast. All in all an excellent experience.

Nice well kept hotel. The bar is always great for chling out it if you feel like getting a tan you have the beach literal outside your door!

Get youself a balcony room here its worth the price and definitely get the buffet breakfast! And if your lucky you can feed cockatoos from the balcony!

Excellent room with great amenities! Loved that we were right across from the beach which meant we didn't need to find parking during busy summer period. Excellent location! Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing especially with the coffee cart and pancake machine. Can't wait to go back!

Well situated hotel with only the road separating it from North Beach Wollongong. We had a spacious, well appointed, clean room on the 9th floor with views of the beaches to the north of the hotel. The reception staff were friendly and efficient. We ordered an evening meal (room service) and it was delivered quickly, was very good and a generous serving. We had breakfast in the restaurant and there was a great variety of good quality food on offer that would satisfy all tastes. Undercover parking under the hotel was available for $15 for the night. A truly pleasant experience, we would certainly stay there again.

Really great location with a decent restaurant and nice rooms. The foyer and lifts are very tired though and the lifts will attempt to kill you given half a chance.

We were there to celebrate our sons 25th Birthday. Room was very comfortable, however, the lounge area needed some TLC.

Great stay, lovely staff, great view! The hotel left a bottle of bubbles and glasses for us. I informed them in an email that it was for my husbands 40th birthday but the letter said happy anniversary. The bubbly was appreciated and lovely but it was a little disappointing they got the event wrong. Not a big deal really. Also the bed was excessively soft. Extreme soft to the point i thought we were going to disappear into the mattress. Otherwise perfect stay!

Clean nice room. Pool and gym are available. Buffet was a bit expensive and not that many varieties.

Close to beach , nice view and easy find parking around . The reception staff are lovely also when i shoot a wedding here , i got served 1st which is amazing and very considering . 10/10

From check-in to check-out we had an excellent stay, as always! Staff were friendly and courteous room service was excellent and the breakfast set up our day.

We are staying at the Novotel for four nights & love it. Breakfast is included & there's a great variety. We were lucky as we were put in room 922 which is the best with point blank ocean views as well as city views, (it's the southern front corner).
Wi-Fi wasn't available till we asked at reception though it's typically slow. No DVD & the USB has been locked. Yes we should get a life - TV isn't essential but we always carry DVDs & thumb drives.
That aside location & services are excellent!

We booked again for four nights & have now been told by a friend the hotel now charges $15 for parking per night ($60). A bit rude as the parking when ir was included was around half full.
Still a great location but not appreciated.

The rooms are clean and comfortable, the restaurant is better than average but the public areas are a bit tired. Will visit again but might lower my expectations.

Lobby bar has a great area to meet and chat with friends. It serves good coffee

Hard to beat this hotel for views and location. But it feels a bit last century - pay for wi-fi, pay for parking, no TV channels other than free to air and TV locked to stop using a USB to connect computer. Why??

everything went very smooth. when i inquired about briefly parking my car to unload i was offered complimentry parking for the duration of my stay. breakfast was good and we had the buffet one night that was also very good.

Nice place to have a break from hustle and bustle. It's beautiful right on the waterfront but it's expensive.

Nice enough. Could do with some minor fixes, e.g 3 of the 6 light globes didn't work. Guest Spa heating wasn't working. Buffet breakfast was good value and decent enough. Beach views are always nice.

Had a great stay here. Unfortunately, was only for 1 night. But will be back. This hotel is extremely well presented and rooms are very spacious. This hotel is situated on the beach front and has bars and dining experiences in house. I will be back

I'm afraid I always find Novotel Wollongong overpriced for what you get. Christmas day was horrific for "free" parking. The spaces are too tight, I hit a pole!!!!! Trying not to hit the other car. The buffet is such a rip off. The food is nothing great. The Balmain bugs are always frozen not fresh. And you don't serve rice paper rolls from the fridge.the rice paper is hard and tough, disgusting. They need to be made and served fresh !!!!!! The hot food looks like it's been sitting around too long, it never looks appetising. It's very boring. And for Xmas dinner $135 per person, I swear we got the lunch leftovers, nothing seemed fresh. The oysters were full of shell bits, so horrible to be constantly spitting out shell. I would not recommend it at all. The breakfast buffet gave me diarrhoea 10 minutes after eating it.

I've stayed here many times but this time I got a newly-revamped room which was lovely! The hotel looks over lovely North Beach with super views. Super-comfy bed, huge bathroom with shower and bath and lovely amenities. The buffet breakfast was excellent and filling and the staff very friendly. I only take a star off my review because the lobby and bar area is very tired looking and in desperate need of refurbishment, but hopefully as they've started revamping the rooms this area will be soon to follow. It's a great spot and I highly recommend it.

Clean, comfortable. As a University of Wollongong staff member, I always get an upgrade with sea views. The room is always really comfortable and the staff are lovely.

All you can eat resturant was a great experience and food, however staff need to pay more attention to their customers.

Amazing hotel, beautiful location in North wollongong just a stones throw away from the beach. Exceptional view from the water facing room made the whole experience worth it. Good service too. Food options limited due to COVID so i won't comment but plenty of great restaurants in the vicinity so we had no problem in that regard. The common areas of the hotel are definitely in need of an upgrade, looks quite worn and old, however the room itself is pristine and modern. I highly recommend this hotel for a coastal getaway!

Overall the time at the Novotell was fun. Had a wedding there. Decking area is nice ontop. Great service.

Had a good time there. Breakfast was good and the rooms were comfortable. Even the minibar prices were reasonable.

The staff, room and general facilities were amazing. The staff was definitely the highlight though. Only downsides was a slight problem with the parking lot arm and one time using the elevator it stopped but the doors didn't open until we pressed the floor number again.

Its 1am and after complaining to reception, they tell me that what i thought was construction, was staff resetting the walls in the function area, waking me up.
This is right underneath me.
The worst nights sleep, duty manager response was "oh sorry about that"

The location is amazing right on the beach. The rooms are clean and spacious and the service was outstanding.

Not sure what s happening to the Novotel it used to be wonderful . The place is dirty and needs a Reno . Now it s like an Ibis hotel no class at all. Still a great view but the standard has dropped . Elevator awful and old. Kids running through corridors until early hours in the morning whilst their parents drank on the balcony yelling loudly. Can t have balcony door open from the noise . Think it s time to find s new hotel. I think the Sage is a much better hotel.

One word: fantastic. Came to attend a conference and absolutely every aspect of the stay was impeccable; the service (in particular Ashleigh), bed and bed linen (felt like sleeping on clouds), breakfast, catering during the conference, and lastly the cocktails.

Pretty dismal bar. Walked in for a drink and left immediately. Decor and atmosphere needs updating.

Food, service, sea facing view... Was perfect on our getaway
