My Daughter, Granddaughter and I had a lovely stay, wish it could have been longer. Friendly atmosphere, welcoming, polite restaurant staff and really important to me clean room and tea, coffee and biscuits, fab!

Lovely hotel and staff, great breakfast and food. Stayed over Christmas and they put on a fantastic Christmas lunch, at least from an Americans view. Had Santa visit for the kids which my 5 YO enjoyed! Cab service to and from city centre can get pricey so factor that in to your cost of stay. Also slightly less service than Americans may be accustomed to for level of hotel. Hotel pool very nice but hours are limited. Overall a very nice stay.

Quite disappointed with my last visit. I had stayed and dined in hotel on different occasions few years back and had very fond memories. I wanted to have a small treat for myself and my husband and bought an afternoon tea Groupon. Although it is a deal-meal, yet I felt the difference how staff attended or treated people with groupons. The area was separate from the bar, where normally afternoon tea would be served. The glass extension of the restaurant where the tea was served, air conditioning was not switched on. My question about air con was treated as something not on a 'list', even it was put reluctantly on after I mentioned it. The waiter brought tea promptly, but I had problems to provide barcode of my Groupon on my phone. By the time the food arrived to the table the tea was almost the room temperature, but I was never offered a fresh pot of tea... The food was below then average and looked slightly better than tasted. Rhubarb mousse had no taste of rhubarb. The bread in sandwiches glued to the teeth and I struggled to wash it down with room temperature tea. The 'clotted' cream was so runny that it was dripping of the scone. Cheesecake had not flavour at all... I had a bite of cakes but couldn't finish any as I had to scrape greasy cream from everything. As I said the waiters had very little interest in our experience and even didn't ask did we enjoy the food. Very sad. I expected more from the 5* hotel. I speak from and comparing it to my previous experience of the hotel itself and the restaurant. Definitely there are several issues can be picked up for improvement, such as staff training and a better chef. Would I recommend afternoon tea in Norton House? No, not without radical changes in staff attitude and quality of food.

Fantastic place. Ideal for couples. Reasonably priced and very relaxing. Attention to detail and customer service was outstanding. The only downside would have been the noise from other guests very early in the morning but that is no reflection on the hotel. The leisure facilities are by far the best I have experienced and include a hydrotherapy pool. Easily my new favourite hotel in scotland.

Spa days here are just fantastic. From the facilities to the lunch to the treatments, everything is fantastic. The staff are friendly and efficient and nothing is too much trouble. My therapist was Shona and I really enjoyed my treatment.

Attended an evening wedding reception. Beautiful location, and the Ballroom was lovely (having attended a reception in another part of the hotel previously). However staff were glum, unhelpful, and it felt like none wished to be there.

We went for Sunday lunch.Waiter seemed a bit unsure of himself when serving wine...spilt it all over the place. Food was reasonable...not as expected.....wouldn't go out our way to return really

Bought vouchers for my mum and her friend as a thank you for cat sitting while I was on holiday which weren't cheap.
When they used the voucher they said the service was extremely poor and they were just ignored by the staff and only got 1 pot of hot water for tea.
Therefore I wouldn't recommend this place for high tea.
