Great hotel situated near the airport and makes one think one's in the countryside and not far from the city. Delicious meals and well trained, courteous staff makes the Norton House a cozy place to unwind. It has a spa which can make it easier to relax in the sauna or swim a few lengths.
I will certainly be back!

Alovely setting, feel like you're out in the country not in Edinburgh. Rooms feel newly refurbished. Lovely soft furnishings and tasteful decoration. Staff are friendly and attentive. Did not use the spa but it looks lovely. Although it is near the airport you hardly hear the planes, very peaceful. There was a wedding party, so some revelling but all over by midnight. I would stay here again.

Very nice! The staff were friendly and helpful. We had afternoon tea and there is a gluten free alternative. Also I noticed that on the menu was a statement that as far as possible the food was prepared in an allergy free environment! Thank you.Greatly deserving of 5 stars!

Norton house are doing takeaway meals during lockdown. We picked up an amazing chateaubriand steak dinner. Easy to prepare at home and simply delicious. Delicious starter soup with focaccia, the beef was tender and tasty, with cauliflower cheese, sauces and stunning chips. Sticky toffee pudding rounded off a delicious dining experience. The food was superb - couldn t recommend enough.

Excellent lunch and lovely staff. Reason for one star.
The hand towel dispenser opening and cracking my mum on head having not been correctly closed by staff member filing it. Who was in filling it when I joined my mum to go to toilet.
My Mum was left with huge red welt quickly turning to huge bruise on top of forehead at hairline. Bar staff couldn t have been more helpful providing ice.

This could have been a child, much more elderly person than my mum or even my pregnant sister in law and I feel my Mum was lucky not to be knocked out by it.
Great afternoon and lunch ruined by this experience or I should say ruined by poor management of a situation.

I attended for a function. The facilities were good - Garden Room a good size and well decorated. The bar staff were friendly and attentive. We had a sit down dinner for which we had already made menu choices. Sadly the wait staff were clueless as to where to take the plates, who was having what, they were bumping into each other and having to take plates back to the kitchen having wandered around with them for a bit. Three times I had food placed down in front of me that I hadn't chosen, and had to tell them I hadn't ordered it. The food I did get, when corrected, was delicious though.

Very nicely prepared food and pleasant staff. Slightly grubby seats need cleaned as felt like a Brewers Fare in the dining area and reused water bottles need thrown out as do the reused sauce pots that once were Tiptree jam jars. No idea how a Hotel manages to run out of haddock on a Saturday though. All in all these things and didn't really taint the overall experience that much but sort them out and I'd award a very strong 4 stars.

Nice setting, physical service very good, waiting staff very pleasant and helpful but I ordered a Wiltshire ham salad sandwich on brown bread with mayonnaise but was given a Wiltshire ham with tasteless tomatoes, no mayonnaise on old white bread. The food normally served in the Norton is good but what happened today I don't know.

Well done Norton House! You have kept us going through lockdown with the bothy, the walks, the fairy woods, the takeaway meals and your lovely happy faces. Everyone is always so lovely. As locals we look forward to supporting you when you reopen. Thank you!

Nice room, quiet, nicely furnished. Bathroom very small, bathtub with high entry. Beds good. Could be cleaner dust on the heated towel rail and in the corners. Breakfast excellent, varied and delicious, the best during our trip to Scotland. Internet is good too, is not a matter of course in Scotland.
Pool not used, sauna not open because of covid.

Not very much to see here. A little trail around the hotel which isn t very dog friendly as it runs parallel to the M8 extension or city bypass link. Which is very busy and slightly noisy. If you can live with this then you may find this little trail of interest. It can be muddy and a little slippery but does take you to the mound on the RATHO/newbridge hill of remains of settlers. Not 100% of the exact history there is a little plaque on the bottom of the mound on the RATHO side of the tracks. Baird road access. Other than that not too much to speak of.

The views and surroundings are beautiful, with minimal noise herd from the airport. Allows for easy access to many of Edinburgh s tourist attractions. The food has a distinctive air of elegance without being over priced.

Our stay was very pleasant. This is a gorgeous place just outside Edinburgh and a lovely retreat from the hustle and bustle of a hotel inside the town. The scenery is beautiful and they ve got a lovely tiny little forest you can jog through. The room we stayed in was spacious and cozy. Would stay again.

Very nice. Bit pricey in the bar, but good service overall. Fine dining sort of place, with lovely grounds and access from either side of the hotel (one entrance directly off the A8 to a long drive which was handy).

There is absolutely nothing wrong with it.

The staff is very friendly and extremely courteous, the hotel rooms are very lavish and equipped with many details. The breakfast leaves absolutely nothing to be desired, on request whole menus can be prepared in the kitchen at no extra charge.
The spa area is great, had a very relaxed time on site

Having previously been to the Spa decided to return for a girls day with afternoon tea. We were a party of 3 and 2 of the 3 suffered sickness from something that was eaten. When we complained it was referred to complaints department which decided that there was nothing wrong and dismissed the case. As only 2 of the party of 3 ate a particular sandwich it would seem to me that something was wrong. My daughter had to be taken to the doctor as she was unable to keep neither food or water down.
The Spa changing rooms were not very nice and didn't seem that clean with a lot of the lockers not working.

Only given 1 star as this is the lowest we can give.
WOULD NEVER VISIT THIS ESTABLISHMENT AGAIN!!!

Staff more than helpful.

We walked it to Norton house up the scenic driveway - perhaps we should have walked back?!

Attended a funeral tea no rolls with the soup no butter jam or cream on table for scones we had nearly finished the scones before any thing appeared to put on scones, sandwiches were soggy, the choice of cakes appalling a very sad day for all of us ended with this disgrace

Great place, great room. They even provided a nice 'happy birthday' card and chocolate in our room as it was my birthday one of the days we stayed. Resturaunt is good, but pricey, same with the bar. Unfortunately it's also not the easiest to go elsewhere, without paying a taxi or having a designated driver. So if you're staying a couple of nights here like we did, it's best to make plans for dinner somewhere else at least one of the nights. Spa and pool are excellent. My partner went for a massage and enjoyed it. We both made use of the pool, spa pool, sauna and steam room, which are open till 10 each night.

The treatment we received was very good and enjoyable however it was disappointing that the experience showers and the hydro pool were not in working order ... the afternoon tea was very tasty but sadly the tray of Sandwiches and baked treats came out much later than the giant pot of tea so the tea was cold by time we got to the goodies however staff were very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was relaxing one small point though the relaxation room went from calm soothing music to hard-core east coast rap which was definitely a surprise
