This program saved my life. After a long struggle with suicidal ideation and depression, the staff and activities at NWBH lead me to a turning point. A 30 day+ program where you focus on pulling yourself out of the deep hole you have dug is the best way to prepare yourself for a life of recovery. Highly recommend.

I was there for eight days before my family discharged me. I was there for a depression and anxiety problem. I have never touched alcohol or drugs. This facility is a great place for young adults to detox, but not to overcome a depression problem. Each "group" has a discussion about drug and alcohol using in some way. On weekends there are guest speakers. The guest speakers all talk about their past drug experiences. In no way at all was that helpful to someone there for depression. There was maybe two people in the entire place there for depression. Everyone else was there for drugs. To me, that was terrifying because I have never been around things like that. Not to mention the required UA and search I had to preform when I first got there. Also, the girls showers are disgusting, and one morning I woke up with ants in my hair. I would not recommend putting your child with a depression disorder in Northwest Behavioral Healthcare Services. Everyone in the facility, including staff, called it "rehab", when I, and everyone else knew that I was not an addict. Also my second and third day there my anxiety was to bad that I couldn't eat and I would vomit off and on throughout the day. All of the staff just assumed that I was having withdrawals. I also felt that I couldn't ask for something because someone would put it off, ignore it, or forget it. At NWBHS, I hand to preform a search and UA, give urine test for STD's, and get injected by something to test for TB.

I admitted my 15 year old son for anxiety, depression and severe behavioral issues because the facility told me they were a dual diagnosis facility that could help my son. My son learned more about drugs and how to better manipulate people after his 6 week stay than how to manage his particular issues. He has been home 1 week and is no better than when he went in. Probably great for people to detox in a secure environment but not the place for a person who has any serious mental issues/behaviors.

NW saved my granddaughters life 3 times in 2015! When everyone else in Washington State said sorry, we can't help your 15 year old addict unless she wants it. ..they said get her here and let us help! I have no doubt our girl would be dead or lost to us forever if it wasn't for them. We are eternally grateful for their willingness and ability to pull her out of a very dark place. Recovery is a long process and NW isn't the last stop on the journey, but it's a great start and they save lives everyday. The staff is amazing and so great at what they do. DO NOT HESITATE TO CALL THEM. Get help for you teen who is struggling emotionally or chemically.

If you don't have a problem walking in, you will by the time you leave. Program is designed to be as triggering as possible then punishing teens for being triggered. I still have anxiety from waking up at night and watching my roommate, shaking, whimpering and pale, come down off heroin while the girl in the room next door punched holes in the wall. DEGRADING STAFF. Upon intake they keep you in a small locked room and do not let you put on clothes, eat, drink, or use a toilet until you sign their paperwork (no matter what state of dress you arrived in). Now that I am an adult I realize how unhealthy this institution is for people with mental health issues. Please do not send your child here for mental health problems!!!! This facility should only be advertised for hard drug addicts in need of forcible detox!!!!

this rating section is a mix of people who went to treatment and hated it or people who admitted their children expecting them to come out completely different people. i will tell you what the behavioral center will tell you: this facility gives your children (i am an alum of the program and have a year+ sober so i know what im talking about) the tools to create a better life. some people are not willing to change and will only pick up the bad habits of the other kids there. some are truly willing, and will come out and want to fix what is wrong. you cannot force your children to become new people just as much as you cannot force yourself to make a lifestyle change unless you do not completely surrender yourself and WANT what is being given to you, which is exactly what being sober is. i am fourtunate enough to have only gone to two treatment facilities before being WILLING to get sober. some kids take one inpatient, some take eight or twelve. the difference is all in whether or not they are or will become willing to accept help.

I was there for 46 days. It's a lock down facility and while I was there some kid climbed a tree outside, ran across the roof, and became the first ever to escape from NWBHCS (Gladstone). He came back a couple hours later after having taken a whip it and gotten bored, rung the door bell asked if he could come back. They started his entire time over from the beginning.

They helped the whole family. And give support . Real good. Only if the parents do all suggested. My daughter now says I saved her life. This day and age parents need to be serious at 15 by the time 17....you made a habit. My daughter came twice. 14 and 16 ...love this place.
