Wow wow wow. We had such an amazing time. Only complaint we could really have is our room was driving next to a room where there was a quite a lot of noise. That being said, the skiing here was GORGEOUS. We had one of the best experiences here as we even got to see it snow multiple times. While skiing we were so impressed with the beautiful views. Make sure you take the gondola ride to the Ritz from Northstar. Would definitely come back.

I've been a season pass holder for the last ten years. This year the resort decided to change the free village parking to paid parking. The only free parking is accessible by shuttle. The announcement about the parking happened after non-refundable passes were already purchased.

Beautiful place. I dont know if i would go again. The evening we checked in the A/C was broken in half the unit and temperatures were unusually hot. Maintenance wanted to Mickey mouse a portable ac unit that made you sleep with the windows open to circulate the air. Not what we wanted. So my guests slept miserably hot and there was nothing else the customer service desk could do until the next morning. So we had to pack everything up the next day and move units. All this put a delay on us really starting our vacation. The replacement unit was nice as well.

One of my favorite resorts in Lake Tahoe. The snow is already great, some of the runs weren't open yet but this is still very early in the season. There was a small terrain park area and a more advanced area. But nothing intermediate yet. It might be because they are still prepping the terrain park area. Hoping this season is going to be a great one!!

I spent a half day here snowboarding for my first time, so I'm not the most qualified to judge the quality of the resort, but I had a good experience. My more experienced friend said the slopes were pretty icy compared to some other places like Kirkwood around this time of year, so there might be better options. Amenities were nice though, had some good (though a bit pricey) fish tacos and the infinite refills hot chocolate was nice after some tough falls. :)

A Gorgeous area and a view that you can't stop looking at. Came up for a tough-mudder, and want to get back for the snow. The promenade has a ton to offer, day or night, and Sun or Snow season. With a location close to Interstate 80, it is hard to argue against returning.

Great mountain. Easy to move around the entire mountain. Lots of good ski runs. A fee are over 1 mile long. I was there for spring skiing and the resort was short handed so a few of the lifts were closed and it caused long lines. The line management was not very good and many of the ski lift chairs did not have all of the seats filled. The resort closes at 5 but they shut down the lifts at 4 which means missed out on 2 extra runs down the mountain.

Northstar prices have skyrocketed over the last few years as have all the major Tahoe resorts. Adding to that, they are absolutely gauging with food and parking. $25 for a burger and drink (no fries). Recently they added a $10 parking fee at the primary lot. It was already a bus ride and long walk to slopes. Now a longer bus ride for free parking. And they had the audacity to say this is done to reduce congestion. Right. I suppose they have enough volume to get away with it, but this business strategy will not engender any loyalty from me.

The resort is great fun!! I typically snowboard at Park City and the first thing I noticed was that it is not a very steep resort. No double blacks and most of the blue runs would be green at Park City. Nonetheless, the groomers are great and you can really cruise the resort, which is a lot of fun. Just don't expect to be ripping crazy lines like at Park City, cause you won't find it here.

Day trip for some downhill mountain biking. Awesome trails with enough diversity for all skill levels.
Bike rental process was painful. Lots of back and forth with only 1 or 2 people knowing what to actually do. Whole process took over an hour. I ended up having to do my own tuning to the bike. Besides that experience, everything was outstanding. Can't wait to shred some more NorthStar!

Nice place to ski. However, I really hope that the staffs are more professional. For example, not every staff knows where I can get ski school receipt. What's worse, instead of stating "I don't know", they gave me wrong directions which wasted me 20+ minutes waiting in line. This happened 3+ times until I finally found the right answer.

Staying there was a headache. Dirty. Payed over $500 but had to stay in a shared room where we could hear the other guests very clearly and their t.v. entirely. They didn't even get us a room key for our first night. Contacting the host was a pain and took a while. The bed and bath is worth 1 star.

Makes Disneyland seem like a bargain: $150 for a lift ticket + $70 for a rental (on top of that, they charge an outrageous 4.5% "facility fee"). Thank you Vail Resorts for milking every penny out of your customers.

The service is very good and it's in a great location. The primary reason for my visit was to go mountain biking, so obviously by staying on the resort gives easy access to everything there is to do.

Northstar ski resort was a blast to ski at. The lodge was well laid out there were signs everywhere to fine whatever you were looking for. I rented skis there and the staff were fast, efficient, helpful and very informative as I am a first time skier. They fit me with the right size boots and explained the differences between the different types and sizes of skis from beginner to advanced. They also had a small shop to purchase some goggles and gloves since I didn t have any of my own. I went with some friends in a Friday morning and stayed all afternoon. It was not too busy and the lines were not long at all. The lifts were quick, comfortable, clean and easy to use for a first timer. I skipped the lessons since I consider myself to be a fast learner. I did to ribs on the green hills then 2 runs on the blue hills. Then 2 runs on he black diamond hills. My friends were impressed with my quick advancement. They hills were all fun and exciting. Definitely got a workout in on the black hills. There were well groomed trails with some fresh and some packed snow as it was snowing all day. All in all my experience there was amazing and I would recommend to my friends and family to come here again.

Attractive village of condos and restaurants and ski shops around an ice rink below ski runs. Today is the second day of the new season and it started out with 6+ inches of new snow atop a decent base enough for several slopes to be open. Could be a very good season ahead with such an early start!

The management isn't the best (they often stop lifts early, the lines are often too tight when fully loaded, etc) and the terrain isn't as aggressive as some other resorts nearby, but it's still a good place to go and get your turns in. I consider this my local mountain and am always happy to ski here. There's plenty of skiable acres to keep you interested and the bigger terrain is pretty well separated from the advanced so the lift lines on the black runs aren't too bad. Beware the Bay area crowd on the weekends...

I really wanted to like North Star since we have been skiing here for more than a decade. They have a lot of terrains for beginners and advanced skiers alike. the new RFID system + EpicMix tracks your lift activity so you can quickly compare your progress. Terrain park is great with lots of fun ramps and hills.
Now to the bad, lift ticket prices are ridiculous at $140 a pop in 2017. Free parking used to be near the village, but they moved it a mile away now. $40 if you wish to park closer to the pickup area. $15 hot dog, which is cooked to death. We will likely go to Mt. Rose from now on.

After purchasing a season pass here for almost 15 ...

After purchasing a season pass here for almost 15 years now, I am done with this miserable dump. Even asking for a refund is out of the question with them, I don't understand how they cannot give me my money back for an overpriced pass on a mountain with no snow (among other things). This place has turned into a corporate song and dance and the once local feel it had just isn't there anymore. Here is a few things:

-The employees walk around like zombies almost as if they are reading from scripts. They all seem to say the same thing and don't really seem to care to work at the mountain.

-This mountain has transformed into a maze of overpriced antics and they dress it up as a wonderful village experience when in reality a dressed up pig is still a pig, or something like that.

-How can you charge 152$ for a day ticket and less than half the mountain is open? I don't really get that one either but its pretty clear at this point the only thing that matters to them is the money and not the experience.

Whats really sad about all of this is that this mountain used to be my favorite place to ride. I use to look forward to coming up here and a huge reason why I went to college was to ride here... Now its very likely i will never ride here again. It has completely changed into something I no longer want to be a part of. There are better mountains in Tahoe and if you enjoy riding more than the hotel/resort aspect then perhaps look somewhere else. As for me, Northstar is dead.
