We went here to ski after original plan fell through due to not enough snow for most resorts. I appreciated that Northstar had a lot of runs open, but the one day lift ticket of $150 was exhorbitant. The resort is very beautiful and the trails were well maintained and well marked. I appreciated the shuttle from the parking lot and free smores at 4pm!

This little village area is a must see when you are in Tahoe! There are many little shops and eateries for you to explore, including a wine bar which we thoroughly enjoyed. There is an ice skating rink in the middle and, of course, the resort itself. It was raining when we went so not too many people out & about but this is a popular place. Beautiful setting!

Great mountain biking. Took my bike to the bike shop on-mountain for some unanticipated repairs to my brake. Ivan was super helpful and upfront with what he thought I needed. Work didn't take too long. Mountain bike routes were great.

If you want great expert-level skiing with steeps and cliffs then Northstar is not for you. But if you want to have some challenging terrain, excellent parks, and a place to bring the kids then Northstar is perfect for your vacation. There village is filled with restaurants and shops. On most weekends they have live music and free smores. Cool atmosphere. But again, it is geared towards families and their vacation's needs.

I used to rave about this place but it's so big and commercialized that the mountain feeling I used to get while walking through the village has been transformed into the same feeling I get when I walk into a Las Vegas club. They are blantly geared toward the super elite with vip passes and access lines that leave the rest of the visitors with a bad taste. To top it off the parking situation is not ideal. The busses which pick you up and drop you off at your far away parking spot don't have equipment holders on the outside, so all the equipment goes on the bus with you.

Despite of that, the reason they still get 4 stars is the nice assortment of ski runs ranging from very easy to a challenging array of blacks. They also make a lot of their own snow which keeps the snow conditions above average for most of the time.

My family and I stayed for two nights. The house has 2 rooms, but enough beds. There were ten of us and we were comfortable there. What I liked the most was that we were so close to the spring. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to go skiing and wants to be very close to the spring.

Great ski resort. Great runs.. However, since Vail bought it, it s becoming too expensive. Probably last year for my season pass. $8 for Gatorade?? and same for small cup of fries??? $17 for personal pan pizza?? Ridiculously expensive food. Very greedy!! Worst part is parking. Converted more than half parking into paid parking. If you reach slightly late, you will end up paying $20 for parking as well. I am not even talking about cost of daily ski ticket (~$150) and season pass, which keeps going up every year, more five times the inflation rate.

One of the most beautiful places to visit in California. The property is magical. The rooms are spacious and grand. The hostess were wonderful. Can't wait to go back in the next few months. I fully recommend to anyone who has vacation time coming up to go.

Currently open I think they have eight trails and four or five lifts operating, That's not a lot of choice and the coverage on the mountain is a bit skimpy not really northstar's fault I applaud them for opening early so people can get going on their season especially with the reservation system. I did have to rent boots as I forgot mine and these boots were wow not comfortable but that's probably more about my feet than anything else generally good service but you can tell that everyone's been told to be very standoffish in terms of helping customers and so forth so it's a bit weird but what are you going to do.

Visit on 1/2/19. Crowded 13 lift runs in 4 1/2 hours. Many winter break skiers. Good snow and lots of groomed runs. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean facilities and free mints at the lodge next to Comet lift.

Spend all the money on the passes, bring kids along for very expensive lessons and you get the luxury of paying for parking! If you have little ones and the bus is not an issue, all is good. If you have to drop 2 kids (3 and 4) off for lessons, better drop Mommy and kids first then go and park. 1st world problems...
