They are very very disrespectful I called to pay my acct off the first women didn't speak English, then I called again I was passed around to five people from one person to another put on hold then they hung up on me I was treated very badly they have no respect for the elderly or disabled. I felt like I was begging to pay my debt off . I asked to pay my acct online I was told they don't do online payments.
I actually found them to be one of the nicest credit/debt collectors out there. The staff was super professional and really nice about my giant debt, which I was scared to address for a year due to lack of finances. They worked out a simple payment that I was comfortable with and got it set up without any hassle or greedy negotiation tactics. I was actually impressed and relieved. I had a life crisis, and lost everything and had to rebuild my life. I imagine most of the terrible reviews on here are coming from people who have legit debts and are just trying to sneak away from them.
They called me stating they were from Chase bank. I've never had an account with Chase, so I called the number back and discovered it was Northland Group. They asked for the last four of my social security number, and when I asked to speak with a manager they were conveniently "in a meeting." Checking my credit report frequently for the next few months, and I would suggest everyone else does the same if your contacted by them.
I received a letter for a debt owned. They had the wrong person--same name but in a different city. I have no account with this company. I wrote and explained all this and ask for letter saying they had the wrong person and I owed nothing and that nothing would go on my credit report. I have received no response. Lazy work--not checking address or city or place previous bills had been sent with payment still due.
I called the number, and the lady on the phone was friendly and professional. The call was quick, around 5 minutes maybe 8 minutes max.
No one likes paying a collection agency, but at least they were nice about it.
Just got a call from an unknown number asking my name and to verify my birthday for a personal matter. When I asked why they were calling she said it is a personal matter and she can't give me any info until I verify who I am. I asked where she was from and she she said Northland Group. She, again asked for my birthdate and I told her I would not give her any into until she tells me what she is calling about. She said thank you and hung up. I knew it was fishy because if it was really a debt they would not have hung up and I don't owe anything. I looked up Northland Group and called the number back. I said I missed a call and was wondering what this was about. He said he could look it up by my social security number and when I said I was leery of giving that kind of info out when I don't know what this is about. I asked if he could look it up with just my name he said he cant help me and hung up. Defiantly a scam!!!
They are a scam. Google them. I've gotten calls and a letter about an "over due" credit card balance and they claim to be a collection agency hired by the credit card. P.S. I have no over due balances and my credit is flawless. I called the credit card they claimed was over due and the rep said "Sir your account with us is perfect. Nothing is due."
Very skeptical at first because the lack of information they could provide initially. The agent explained they need to verify identity before providing information because they dont want to give someone's information to a wrong party. After I finally agreed to give my full ssn they were able to locate an account I had completely forgotten about and worked with me on a resolution that fit my budget. My agent even save me $1000 in the process! I wish all of my debts went to their office and were this easy and stress free to pay on!
I have absolutely No Debt and PERFECT CREDIT but have been receiving calls on a daily basis. No message left and sometimes no response when I answer the phone. Today I decided to call them. Only to be asked for a reference number....which I don't have. No message has been left for me with one! I asked rep on phone to identify the reason for the call and was immediately asked for my entire social security number. I declined to provide this explaining that this is a business I have not every done business with and am totally uncomfortable giving my social. MY BANK doesn't even ask for my complete social number! I told the rep I would provide my name and the telephone number they are calling. She put me on hold to come back and say to me "I am sorry, we have been contacting you looking for someone else....we will remove you from the call list" SOUNDS REALLY SKETCHY and STRANGE. If you have a debt that this company is attempting to collect I would ask for something in writing and pay the company you owe directly and then settle the collection company fee by sending a money order in the mail. NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR SOCIAL!!
While researching collections agency to hire, I found Northland Group Inc. Because of how dumb and ridiculous the reviews are, I am going to contact them. My favorite is the old guy who fell answering the phone. Would you sue your Mom if you fell while answering her call?? Seriously.... I am dumber for reading that review. Or the crazy lady would does not answer unknown calls. Is that because you do not pay your bills or think black helicopters will fly in and take all your cats. Or Jose... really??? Your comment is negative and you give them 5 stars. Looks like they deal with crazy people well.
