This place is full of crooks. If you rent from this place you are crazy. They will suck up your whole security deposit when you try to leave plus send you a bill. They did it to me and a few other people I know including the maintenance guy who was renting a apartment from them. Worst place I have ever rented from and would never do buisness with them again. I didn't even have hot water most days while I lived there and when you go to move out and you try to express your complaints to the office they threaten you with lawyers and insult you.......DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!!!!

While living in one of NTRE's units we had a few maintenance issues and management was always very prompt at getting it fixed and maintains the properties well. The experience was as good as it could be in an apt/condo.

Once deciding to purchase a home, we utilized NTRE as well. Pat and her team were on top of their game through the entire process ensuring our needs were being met and the other side of the table played by the rules. I'm not certain we could of had better representation in the purchase of our new home. Pat knows what she's doing, fights for her clients and I expect she instills these same values in the training of the NTRE associates. No nonsense real estate!

This guy Pat Baker doesn't have a clue as to what he suggests for his employees. He rants against the homeless, and vilifies the Native Corporations, as if he knew Jack Schidt about either of them. Stay away from this place, and this guy.

My experience has been delightful so far. I lucked out with a good property owner who has been doing this a long time..Thanks Jon. The girls in the office are wonderful and super accommodating Thanks Jackie and the lady in the other office. Sorry I didn't catch your name but Thank you for being so understanding. They both need a raise. Fantastic service. Maintanance guy ... if I text him he response right away...Great people who are just doing their jobs.
A Lot of people only post the bad and very seldom will people post the good experiences. My husband and I have a great experience from beginning to end. It's not easy in the field they are in and they can't make everyone happy all the time. We appreciate you

This is an absolute joke. We have lived here three months and had FOUR major issues. Ice maker flooding the kitchen, burner on hot water going out, a washing machine that took THREE weeks to fix oh and our latest issues us not having heat or hot water. Two days without this and we have small children. Did nothing but give my husband an attitude on the phone and told they couldn't get ahold of me. Never again will I rent from them or tell anyone else too. It was dirty when we moved in there's carpet coming up and paint peeling from my stairs. Just an absolute joke.

Was rude most of the time. Email responses were quite unprofessional. I have been told they are understaffed, but I don't think that should excuse the rudeness in the tone of their voices. Despite all of this, Patti Paulus was a nice person to work with. I would not recommend renting from them.

This is the worst place to rent from. I have had nothing but trouble and bad attitudes from them. I have lost count of the times I have called and someone picks up and hangs up. It s one thing to let it ring or to put a person on hold but they like to pick up/hang up.
It also takes days for them to get repair people out to fix ceiling leaks, water heaters, and pipes. They never fixed the dishwasher rack that kept falling off its tracks. This winter I also had trouble with my garage door opener even after changing batteries. I ended up having to go halfway around the building to use the key access, punch the inside button and race up this icy steep little hill to my car before the garage door closed. I reported it to them multiple times for the last three months I was with them and each time they said someone would be out to fix it. I brought it to their office and they sent me away saying they d send someone out. Never did.
Now I go to look into giving my 30 notice and I couldn t remember how long my lease was so I asked Jackie to please look it up for me since I could not find my papers. She made it obvious that she was frustrated and in a hurry. She leaves the room and comes back, signs the notice, makes a copy and tosses it back to me saying nothing more than that I was all set and tells the receptionist that she really needs to leave now.
When I brought the keys back Nadine was the lady who accepted it and looks at my account without prompting. She tells me it looks like I am still in the apartment and she sees no record of a notice and that I actually would be breaking my lease and would have to pay for those three months. I told her my interaction with Jackie. Nadine informed me that Jackie should have also done a final walkthrough with me. This Jackie also never mentioned. She then says That is certainly not how we do business, but if Jackie said you were good then you should be good . Nadine informs me that Jackie is out for a few days and that she would talk to her and one of them would give me a call in a couple days if there was any problem. Surprise, surprise they never called and every time I tried calling them no one would answer or I would get the pickup/hang up treatment. I work during their business hours so it is very hard to get into see them and when I did Jackie was always gone. Now a month later one of them leaves a voicemail with my husband saying we owe over two months rent and will be stuck with a third soon. I was finally able to get ahold of Jackie and she says she doesn t remember anything and that i will still owe that amount.
I later found out that a few of my coworkers and their friends have also rented from them and experienced nothing but trouble as well. Do not rent from these people!

No one is upset that she doesn't want to use my company I will not work with anyone from northern trust. Ever. Her threatening me saying she's going to make the texts well known like I did something wrong that's just annoying. Well when I post them why do you delete them? Let it be known how rude and nasty she really is.

To Pat. I specifically chose Brande due to listings. And this is a different john diamond there's more than one..... Also don't post ads if you don't want anyone to contact you guys. You Brande is a rude idiot who's obviously lying...she told you she thought it was a computer than why does she say STOP. Yet continued to text again after no one replied saying EVER AGAIN?? Then continue to text me when all I texted was the one time because I was trying to buy a listing with a friend of mine and figured it would be nice to do a set of free pics. She wants to act like she's the richest person in the world well let the world see her dumbass comments to me. Why do you keep deleting the other screen shots of her rude ass?
Also I've contacted one person! one time! from your company! Technically your the one who keeps contacting me. Don't reply if you don't want a reply... Stop lying to people about Brande's bipolar attitude. A reviewer from two years ago even said the same thing and I 100% agree. Just because someone doesn't have as much money as you doesn't mean I can't leave my opinion. Your just as snobby and rude as brande! Good luck to you!

They manage a number of my properties and are the most professional and knowledgeable I have encountered in Anchorage. Have purchased and sold over $20,000,000 in real estate transactions through them over the years without a problem.

This was supposed to be a secure building. In fact...

This was supposed to be a secure building. In fact I was charged $100 dollars to replace a garage door opener because the other tenants remote openers had to be reprogrammed . Okay so fine I ll accept being ripped off for a safe place. One day I open my garage to park my car and noticed all the storage doors had been opened and my almost brand new snow tires were yanked from my closet. I also noticed that one of the entrance doors to the garage was broken and tenants were required to make a significant effort to shut it. This door had not been fixed for over two months as I was living there.

When I moved out although I paid $250 dollars to have the carpet professionally cleaned and cleaned out the freezer and refrigerator and replaced the blinds $40 and the dip pans $10 wiped down the counters and the pantry Pattie, the property manager, told me there would be an additional $250 cleaning fee. At this point I just wanted to get out and said okay.

One month after my move out I called to see where my deposit money was they said they mailed it. I asked what my options were. They said put a stop order on the check which was an additional $31. I asked what they would do in my shoes wait one more week . I waited one more week. The accounting manager said Oh sorry I didn t hear anything about a stop order . So I told her to put a stop order and I would eat the $31 dollars. It takes two days for my company, who also banks with Wells Fargo as Northern Trust does, so I give them 6 working days before calling. Manager said she ll call tomorrow . After not receiving a call the next day I called two days later. She said my check was ready I asked how much she said $734. I said the math didn t add up she said the cleaning fee was $450 (nearly double what the property manager told me) with an additional $80 for hanging a closet door! So my initial $1295 deposit is now $734 after paying $250 to have the carpets professionally cleaned. So all in all after loosing my snow tires due to a lack of security I also lost $811 of my security deposit (including the $250 I paid to have the carpets cleaned)! I should have just left the place to rot, saved myself the effort and let them keep their $484 dollars

I gave them 2 stars rather than one because most of the people I did talk to at least were not rude. I did get I m sorries and no one yelled at me like you can read in the other reviews.

Very very poor service. Avoid Jill Christensen at all costs. Jill was recommended by someone close to me who had never purchased a home before. She was supposed to help us find a new home to purchase as well and at the beginning she seemed interested in helping us. Very quickly we realized that she was only trying to get easy money, she has no interest in helping people find what they actually want. After 2 weeks of text messages and no actual face to face contact she had never asked what we were looking for and when we provided that information it was ignored and she kept showing us houses that in no way met our needs. She took us to look at 3 houses only after we practically begged her to make some time for us, she explained that she was busy but after Monday she would have a clear schedule and could dedicate more time to us, we never heard from her again... She did not have us sign a disclosure statement which is required by law when going to see homes. My friend who recommended her called after he had closed to ask some follow up questions and she refuses to answer or call him back. I would avoid this whole operation if I were you. I'm sure their rental side is just as bad.

Brandi McGovern - Don't ever try to rent or buy housing from this crazy lady. She is only nice to you the first day before you sign the contract, she will treat you like shXt. Including yelling at you, threaten you about the bills, charging you all the fees without warnings. There has been water leaking in our apartment for about 6 months and she still haven't fixed it. She will only contact you when there is a additional BILL or a FEE that needs to be paid. Glad we are finally moving out. So tired to deal with her bipolar and this place.

Northern Trust real estate is the WORST company i have EVER dealt with. We moved into rent one of their properties and had no heat for over a week and they did NOTHING to help us, we had to contact discount mechanical for over 2 months having our heat go in and out. We have also had two break in's and PAT BAKER the OWNER, told us that there was nothing she could do. She has yelled and made false accusations to us. We have had multiple more issues with them, and they have pushed us aside every time. Its absolutely disgusting how they handle their tenets. NEVER BUY RENT or do business from this company!!!!!!!! THEY TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANYTHING!!!

Brande who works with northern trust is about the only person who seems to really care about people within the property. Unfortunately she is binded by Pat Baker. If Brande were my landlord i can GUARANTEE we would be happy, she would fight to protect her tenants!

I got a scumbag kind of feeling the first time I met Jon Seavers. And after working with him for close to 6 months, it's nice to know that my people reading skills are still intact. Northern Trust is probably ok if all you need is someone to collect rent and sign leases. But if you're looking for a place that's going to do a thorough job of screening tenants, act promptly when there's an issue, and generally perform in a way that aligns with your best interests as a property owner, then Northern Trust probably isn't the place you want managing your property.

Word of wisdom to someone looking for property management services: the lowest cost isn't always the best value.

I've been a resident for several years with Northern Trust. I'm really impressed with the professionalism, integrity, and punctuality I've received from Jacque Good, and Dan with maintenance. Jacque is a woman of her word, that follows through when it comes to taking care of tenants. I have the confidence in her, to do whatever is possible to fix an issue in my unit. Her response time is amazing, she clearly articulates what's the remedy to my issue, and the steps she's taken to make it happen. Dan is a reliable worker, who is very respectful when entering my residence. He always makes an extra effort, to solve problems in the fastest manner possible. His communication is 1st class, and he's great at explaining solutions that are in the process of happening, so I know the best possible remedy is coming. Stay away from Brande McGovern, she's a crook. This was the worst experience ever. Heat was in and out all winter and we spent many cold nights with small children. They hired druggies to do repairs and things never got done right. After I got sick of it and put in my 30 day notice, they started threatening me. Then, they refused to allow me at the final inspection, stole my deposit check, and they are charging me rent even though I've been out of there, and into a nicer place for over 2 months! No explanation, just a bill for an apartment I don't live at!!! Amazing

Horrible, wish I would have read the reviews before I rented my first apartment from them . Had 2 different landlords during my 1 year lease . Washer was ALWAYS leaking . We moved and it took them 29 days to return our deposit after ridiculous deductions, I spoke with Brandi who was really nice at first but after I called today to ask questions about the deductions she was extremely rude to me on the phone, I barely got 3 full sentences out, my boyfriend was sitting next to me in the car while I was on the phone looking absolutely pissed that she was speaking to me that way . Hopefully someone will see this and save themselves the trouble. I wish I wasn't so naive in getting my first place .

Don't use this company. Maintenance takes weeks, have had trouble getting deposit back twice. Moved out in September, finally got deposit back (there was no damage, they just 'forgot') in late December, the check bounced, I've got them on the phone twice since, not so much as an apology, just "I'll forward to accounting" who never answers. Clearly this is the way they do it, not an exception.

Brande McGovern....very rude unpleasant person and even worse real estate agent. Learn to speak to people or dont have a job that requires doing that. Single handedly bringing northern trust down with her attitude!

Excuse me....harrasing? No I'm reviewing your rude employee.. not my fault others feel the same way. Stop lying to everyone...stop deleting screenshots also. Expose who Brande is your star manager... that's crazy you sell homes and lie to people about little things like this.. what a shame.
Also I've contacted one person from your concompany, ONE TIME. So stop exaggerating remember you sell homes, stop exaggerating and lying. Brande should apologize, and mabe not say she wants everything exposed is she really doesn't.
Obviously there are reviews about Brande from years ago. Stop assuming.

It is unfair to give an entire brokerage a bad rep...

It is unfair to give an entire brokerage a bad reputation for the actions of one single associate broker, but today I closed on a house and instead of it being an exciting happy day it felt like a relief of the most painful experience. An associate broker of northern trust displayed complete lack of professionalism and dishonesty in my transaction. I was manipulated into thinking I scored a pleasant, trustworthy, reliable, honest and professional relationship with this representative. For most of the purchasing process the relationship was easy going, but toward the end, when this relationship matters most, at the stage where many things can go wrong, the person representing Northern Trust began lying, twisting stories, making a stressful experience worse. It became so bad that when I sought council of many individuals in the real estate profession, they shook their heads in disbelief and apologized for their colleague.
At the end of the day, this transaction is complete and everyone gets to go home. One thing is for sure though, if I can spare someone else this painful experience, it would make me believe it was worth it. My hope is that this was a one time occurrence and that Northern Trust will try to address these actions. At any rate those of you considering doing business with this brokerage please be careful and please seek another company that does not have negative reviews. Best of luck!

Rented a unit threw northern trust a little over a year. Nice place. But after a week the carpets started smelling bad of pee. It took them 6 months to replace just the upstairs carpet. The people before us had dogs, And stayed there 5 yrs prior to our move in. No screens on the windows so we got bit all summer by bugs. They never got back to us on the screens. All blinds were hard to open. They never fixed that. To top it off, the Light switches fizzled and fried when you turned them off or on. Again never fixed. And the mega mice problem. We went to court. They would not work with us on the rent. We were behind halve a month. So they kicked us out. For a hole year we paid almost 20 thousand in rent. Every month on time. With everything we've been threw with the house it would of been nice if the we're a little more understanding.
