My mother isn't overly impressed with this facility. Every time she tries to get into a class, it's either already "full" or has been canceled. She has limited vision and most of the craft type classes require visual acuity and dexterity. The facility itself seems neat and clean, but from what I have noticed, they are limited in what they offer.

Always a nice place to relax and visit with seniors in the neighborhood...and voting there was a simple process that was carried off in a timely manner. Did excellent with social distancing and covid precautions!

The Northampton Council on Aging is currently closed for regular activities, due to the ongoing Covid19 pandemic. It was open this week for early voting for the Sept. 1 primary election, and will be re-opened for 2 weeks of early voting prior to the Nov. 3 general election. The day that I went, mid-week, around noon, there was ample parking behind the building, and clear signage indicating the route to the entrance to the polling place. There is also a bus stop (Walter Salvo House, rts. 42, 44) in close proximity to the center. There was no line, and ample provision for social distancing. All poll workers wore masks, and plastic barriers were placed between public access points and poll workers' stations, and each voting booth was cleaned between uses, as were pens used to mark ballots. All things considered, it seemed as safe a way to vote in person, and alleviate conditions on Election Day, as might be wished.
