Rang the number to have an old fridge freezer removed. The options that your given bear no resemblance to rubbish removal so just pressed any button. After a 20 minute wait was told the system is down and I'd have to call back later. Rubbish, literally!!
Pointless jobs for pointless people. We pay them to give our money away, we allow them flexible hours and a nice pension. Why is it jobless people with kids get 2k a month and a house yet Wiltshire council cannot even empty my bin. We need to lose 75% of council workers! And then there is the state of the roads. Need I say more? Anyone that has paid any attention to their tax breakdown will realise that the council and the benefit system they are perpetuating is an utter disgrace to anyone that works for a living and pays their taxes. Why do we give up so much of our lives to pay for an over inflated public sector whose main purpose seems to be finding more ways to waste our money?
Garden Waste -- Pay from August 1st Beggars belief- unable to sign up until August the 1st, then wait up to 3 weeks for a sticker to allow the green bin to be emptied. Why can you not sign up towards the end of July? How long does it take to write a name on an envelope, stick a sticker inside and post it 10 minutes.
After a breakup I became homeless from September and i was sofa surfing till December.
Moved into my flat in December 15th. Handed in my application for housing benefit December 16th as i am unemployed I am entitled .
Waited a month while paying my rent, then rang them to ask about my application where they said "I don't have anything about your claim, so it probably hasn't been processed".
Okay.
I Phone them up 3rd February. "We don't have your application, please send in another form and we will try to backdate it". I hand in my 2nd application form 3rd February (Ok getting worried now it will take another 4 weeks and i still managing to pay my rent out of the money Job seekers says i should be buying food with.)
3 weeks 2 days later, I get a letter saying i will only get housing benefit backdated to 3rd February as they have no account of my previous application. Disputed my case, and the decision maker said i should of had a receipt for the 1st one when i handed it in, I didn't get one, so he was unable to help me one bit (so 3 and a half months rent that i didn't get back).
3 months on, I have debt collectors coming for laptop tv and my mobile phone Later on today, Suffering from depression and anxiety attacks all thanks to the Wiltshire council .
Thank you Wiltshire council for loosing my application and not doing your job right!
Used Trowbridge Recycling Centre this morning ( Saturday 27th June ) . Great ! better than "the normal " arrangement. Really helpful cheerful staff and no hassle or delays . They should keep this booking system on when all this virus business is over . Thanks very well done.
Despite huge local opposition and overwhelming reasons against, this Council has approved the building of a massive Chicken Factory at Sutton Veny. Rather than represent local people this Council is supporting the interests of a multi-million pound company based in Birmingham. Funny that. Utterly despicable.
Constant Parking a a Blue Badge only spaces by people without a Blue Badge, after contacting the council told they have no enforcement officers in Warminster and no plans to have any !!
Wonder if they will find the money to get them when Councils are given the right to police and keep the fines for traffic offences. Also appalling state of the roads in Wiltshire and totally dangerous missing or seriously faded road markings
Amateurish, incompetent & sometimes downright hostile. MASH Team (Social Services) failed to return my call over twenty times. WEST Team (Social Services) books meetings then simply fails to turn up without any explanation whatsoever. Housing Options has lost documents time & time again & asks me to repeatedly supply them.
Oh yeah, and our roads are a danger to all who use them; full of potholes & missing surfacing/metalling.

Unhelpful, bureaucratic and inhuman - Robots that simply are reading from scripts that dont relate to real life in any shape or form. On another matter.. it took them 10 years to allow development on the old Tescos site - This kind of backwards attitude is why Trowbridge is now an embarrassment. So, lagging behind other local towns, like Frome.. Made even worse as it's supposed to be Wiltshire's County Town. But, no one will read this .. or even care if they do.!
Just tried ringing to arrange collection of unwanted large items.....phone rings once then cuts me off. Also tried the main number....same. Frustrating !
Have just wasted 30 minutes queuing to get into the recycling centre , Warminster . The traffic was back to the end of the road. Causing air pollution from the cars and unnecessary frustration for all. If you want to save money sack a few of the people in the department that came up with the ridiculous idea of closing the centre for 2 days a week.

He "new" rules regarding the household recycling centres - what a total shambles. The staff were turning people away at the Trowbridge centre despite there being only 2 cars inside.
After 10 days I have had no reply to my email. Now waiting in a phone queue. Disgraceful lack of respect for your 'customers'. You might as well scrap your search facility - I have NEVER managed to find anything remotely relevant.
Was told that we have the legal right (/democratic obligation) to put our views on fracking to the leader of the council, who has jurisdiction in the matter of whether fracking takes place in the county. I duly did so. Several months later I had received no reply to my questions, so I contacted the leader of the council asking for an update. I received no meaningful reply. Appalled by the lack of democracy in our political processes, and appalled by the lack of accountability of the council. Hopefully Crude stays at sub $50, so the lunatics pushing the shale madness don't get a foothold in my county, (or anywhere else for that matter).
After protracted problems obtaining LPA for my mum in care the council have resorted to bullying tactics to try and get me to sell her home. I have no legal right to sell it as I have no control over her finances and property at present. I have a good mind to revoke the LPA and get them to sort it all out. Make them work for living the lazy b*****ds.
I was on hold for 16 minutes and then they hung up on me. That said the registry office is nice and they do a good ceremony, just don't bother trying to contact them by phone.

My property was damaged as a result of their negligence. Had to recover the (not insignificant) costs via the County Court. The people that we had to deal with throughout the process were stubborn, and ultimately - completely incompetent
Corrupt and useless, social services have a 3 stage complaints proceedure which they blatently ignore, if you submit a complaint they are meant to respond withing 30 days,took almost 6 months, then when you progress to stage two tagain they ignore their own proceedure, and attempt to prevent the complaint from being dealt with, we sent extra video evidence proving a sw commited purgery in court and they simply stop responding at all,next stage is the ombudsman.
absolute nightmare to reach a person on the telephone, just keeps repeating the other options ie. email customer services or website. I emailed but still no reply & that wa sa fortnight ago. I tried ringing everyday from mon-friday between office hours & no luck atall. (crap customer service).

Reported a blocked drain. (17 October 2016) Quite a long wait in two phone queues, always irritating but it's a feature of life these days. Call handlers were polite enough when they eventually replied. Now let's see how we get on with sorting out the blockage. I'll be back to let you know !
This review mainly covers both the website and the recycling centre. I always find the website easy to use and if I have had any questions their customer services have always come back with the correct information in a speedy time. I used the recycling centre at Purton this morning which is the first time since the new Covid rules came in and as always the people there are friendly and really helpful (even in the pouring rain!). The system works well, although this morning the middle of Purton has the road closed so people were having to find another route. I am sorry for those that have had bad problems with the council but I did feel it was important to say that with the standard services we always find the people friendly, the dustbins are always emptied, the workers try and do the best they can. Maybe if central government gave them more funds and people, then things could move forward but for a moment we need to think about the people there that do their job and try their best to help us, they are human too. For that they deserve a little thanks!
No real interest in getting anything done. Waste money on silly 'welcome to westbury' flags, but no money for fixing roads or rural broadband. Generally useless.
If wish I could give the Council less than 1 star for the policy on road repairs. I fully agree with Tim Chadwick, Wiltshire roads are a total disgrace. I travelled over 1000 miles around Ireland back in the summer and only saw 1 very small pothole, daily I travel from Hindon into the Woodford valley and spend nearly the whole journey having to zigzag around the dozens of potholes on the A36 and the Stoford to Woodford monor road. Even when repairs are carried out do not last so something with the repair procedure is very wrong. Again another waste of out council tax. I could not avoid a pothole just over a week ago and afterwards my car developed an alarming vibration, having just taken the car to a mechanic I have been told that the tracking has been knocked out and that both front tyres are now wearing badly as a result.
No doubt in the current climate you are doing the best you can with limited resources. I have been trying to find out a list of sustainability planning policies on your website. After 1.5 hours of google-ing i can not find the information, and have to ring up your planning orifice, if this information were more readily available then i would not be taking up your valuable time by ringing up! Also do you have a minimum carbon emission reduction target similar to Bristol? This is not clear after 1.5 hours searching web.
as far as I can tell it doesn't exist, impossible to contact despite trying several methods and lines, I give up even trying. The customer service line seems to be occupied 24/7 either that or it's just not manned.
The roads are in an appalling state and constitute a danger to cyclists and motor cyclists. They also cause damage to other vehicles.
The Council is well aware of the state of the roads, but chooses to paint lines around the damage and leave it for months instead of repairing it. e.g. The A420 in Ford.
The above is my personal opinion of WC and it's maintenance of the roads.
Unbelievably poor parking management. There are more permits than spaces, and no restrictions on how many skips can take up spaces in a zone. Bank holiday Monday coming up with Fisherton st festival = lots of people staying in residents bays with visitor permits. The council does not apply Sunday hours to bank holidays, which means no parking on single yellow lines. My only option if the bays are full (which they always are) is to pay for a full day at a car park to stay in my own house.
Also, the poorest recycling programme I have ever come across having lived in several areas of the UK. Patchwork roads with constant potholes, 2 rubbish collections a month and terrible street lighting.
Would love to know what exactly they are spending the council tax money on, they fall short of many other councils. From a resident's perspective, I can only see the money being poured into tourist attractions and hanging baskets.
Spring 2015 safety barrier outside my house collapsed I reported it and a temporary blue plastic barrier was erected. This fell down whenever the wind blew so sandbags were put up around it. 2 years later the temporary barrier is still in situ leaning against my hedge and overgrown with weeds etc. I have reported it many times over the last 2 years to the Council and the Parish Council but nothing has been done. My latest response from a Highways representative was that I had better sue the Council. Should I really do this and should I take on a Solicitor.
