North Suburban Medical Center Review

Horrible ER, and I guarantee they should be sued for negligence in regards to my experience. I had Guillain-Barre Syndrome about 5 years ago. I woke up paralyzed, hardly able to move my legs and too weak to even hold a glass of water. The pain was excruciating. They did a standard blood test, and the doc did a couple other quick tests to test my strength and reflexes (I had no reflexes). But, he said I needed more tests and would need to make an appointment with a neurologist. Apparently, I seemed stable enough to go home and wasn't deemed an immediate health risk. I couldn't get into a neurologist for a month and a half. That's pretty standard. However, I'm still shocked they thought that was ok to not do anymore tests before sending me home.

I ended up flying home to WI, where my family lived, for help. I couldn't wait for the neurologist appointment, as the pain was unbearable. Considering I had to fly in a wheelchair, in pain and without any medication, I was obviously desperate. They immediately made me go to the ER that day where I was admitted and diagnosed. I had wasted down to 85 lbs at that point. Because my treatment was delayed, it progressed to effecting my organs (such as my heart), and I ended up needing years before I could work or live a semi normal life. I still have symptoms to this day. Not to mention the debt I accrued.

I'm sure there are good doctors and staff here, but I would never trust them again. My life will never be the same due to their doctor's negligence.

Do you want caring nurses? Or competent handling of paperwork? Perhaps even after say you deliver a baby at the hospital? Then look no further than any hospital other than North Suburban. Between nurses that showed little care for the mother, while also denigrating use of formula, all while judging relationships, and screwing up paperwork for the birth certificate (twice) I have to say that truly, any hospital in even Calcutta would likely be a better option. 2 starts only because neither my wife or my son died, so they at least managed that.

Do NOT use this ER! I came in because I was nauseous the night before my wedding. I received 2 bags of salene, some nausea meds, and was in a bed for 30 minutes. My bill total came to over $12,000!!!! On top of that, the nurse that administered my IV applied it completely wrong and I had severe bruising across my entire forearm for 2 weeks. I almost had to go to another ER to make sure I didn't have an infection! I've tried contesting the bill, but I can only get a hold of young call center ladies in some other state who have no idea how to assist me. The staff was very polite, so I hate giving a bad review, but this place practices horrible business!

Edit: Received my itemized bill, and it looks like I received nearly $3000 worth of services that I never authorized to and was never informed that I was getting. They performed ridiculous mounts of bloodwork that included a drug test... A DRUG TEST! Why would I go to the ER to get a drug test?

What can you do when a hospital lies about the services they gave you?

My visit to North Suburban Medical Center was very enriching. I had a wonderful Doctor, his name is Doctor Thomas Roger Paluska. I couldn t have been any luckier than to get a finer doctor.
The entire crew at North Suburban Medical Center is most likely the best that anyone could ever find. Everyone is so patient and willing to help the patient in any way they can. I feel like I was blessed in going to North Suburban Medical Center. I would say they all were on top of the world.

This place nearly killed my daughter. Sepsis Certification - not sure if this was from causing sepsis or trying to treat the patients that get septic from the treatment. As for insurance, might as well not have any. Very few of its doctors are in plan and you have to pay an amazing amount out of pocket!

On the ER, they got me in really fast and was treated great. I really appreciate all the help from Doctors and Nurses. They really try to make you feel better and they even follow up with you after your visit.

I was taken care of very quickly. I ended up having COVID. Came to the ER twice and each time was given such great care. I've never experienced anything so scary and I'm grateful to all the staff. No matter the emergency I'm always very satisfied leaving North Suburban.

Everyone on staff is so helpful. The nurses, Sam, Sarah, Leticia, Maria, and Adrienne, all took great care of me. They were kind, helpful, concerned, and encouraging. The surgery team, Dr. Head, Chris, Jimmie, and recovery nurses were wonderful. The whole team thoroughly explained everything to me. I was comfortable and unafraid for the duration of my stay. Thanks go to North Suburban and their great team!

The staff at North Suburban was outstanding last week. This was my first visit to North Suburban. I had been referred there for a head injury. The staff was attentive, thorough, efficient, professional and friendly. They took the time to explain my treatment and to answer any questions in a very caring manner. I would highly recommend this facility for any ER needs.

Excellent service....I have been in a lot of hospitals due to 11 previous back surgeries. But North Suburban is one of the best. My nurses were all WONDERFUL!!! Jayben, Tam and I think the other was Tina were all wonderful. They made the stay easy! Thank you Dr. Head and all the nurses!
