I have been trying to resolve issues with missed recycling collections for a week now and every time I call they say they don t have any report in their system . Such bad service. I really wish I could give them 0 stars.
Update: we actually had to wait for the next recycling pick up, so they did not resolve anything. Not helpful at all. I now wish I could give them -1 stars.
I have lived in Kent, Surrey, Stevenage and Letchworth and this by far, is the worse council I have ever encountered.
Horrible people put a ticket (PCN) on a school bus visiting Royston Caves for no reason after telling the driver to park there..The Bus was out of region and bringing many Children into the area to learn about Royston. Shocking abuse of so called power and very stupid .We will never visit this place again which will be their terrible loss. You lose money, you lose souls- Idiots ! Your econonmy will suffer when you persecute the inocent

Had a problem with refuge collection (not recycling) the collectors were rude and unhelpful. Have to say the first ever. Got in touch with North Herts over the issue, was advised a supervisor would be contacting me - never did. Rang the following day, the customer service agent was unhelpful, had a could not care less attitude and in fact did'nt even know what day it was. I asked to speak to a supervisor, told "I could'nt" asked why not, advised an email would need to be sent to them, before a response could be had. Why do we pay our council tax to deal with an inefficient and inept group of individuals. I suppose they would blame covid for the issue, better than blaming an individual I suppose.
Just move in to the area and have been dealing with their general planning enquiry team. They have been helpful polite and fast enough for my needs.
can some one please explain why it was so necessary to re tarmac the Broadway at night working till 2am lorries and workmen shouting and screaming till ungodly hours during a quiet period with no school trafic someone deserves the sack
rubbish literally - pay a fortune in council tax and bins get collected fortnightly and in this hot weather that is a nightmare and health hazard to be honest - try to call them and no reply voicemail says full up - its a joke our black bins been out since tuesday now friday still not collected and its over 80 degrees the smell and flies are awful shocking shocking shocking
Shockingly poor website for a council. Not at all user friendly. 'Search' is largely redundant as it doesn't work. I rarely leave a negative review but had to in this case. Would happily have left a no star review but it doesn't allow you to do that.
hitchin museum is suggested to be open in the local paper, butits web site lists events but no openiing hours , What are the disability or other facilities .5 years of closure is just ahead of brexit ,
Went Yesterday to gernon Rd office and found the newer council building totally closed since November they now have gone back to town lodge there originally old building which is small stuffy and smelly and too warm
So after spending on a new building thirty years ago ate now back in the older thirties building
service and bin collection not very reliable
I believe Councils should have a quality control department to make sure all jobs been done well.
I have seen pothole repairs which been substandard
Work should be checked and of good Standard
Ultimately it would reduce waste and expense.
The Council keeps increasing taxes year by year.Highest in Europe
All we want is value for money!!

Harry at the waste department (sorry for the Inaccuracy for department name) was absolutely beautifully brilliant and charming.100% on customer service and relations. It is hard to make a conplacomand feel comfortable about moaning about it. Harry was brilliant.
Moving in to refurbished offices at the expense of a decent service to the community NHDC serves.I see where our 5%council tax increase has gone.

Well done NHDC. Requested a change on my resident parking permit yesterday afternoon (24July) and got the new one in the post this morning (25July). Super service.
Abandoned vehicle reported to NHDC a month ago by Police and myself. STILL not moved.

I've been on the phone to the council about them not collecting my bins more times in a month than I did in 4 years in Bedfordshire. They are so anal about what you put in there I didn't realise bin nazis existed. All foe one newspaper, and I had no box so where was I supposed to put it?! And fortnightly collections too so your bins stink, I was also refused a bigger bin and given short shrift attitude when I have called up. Very very poor service.
This lot couldn't organise a pi** up in a brewery...reported missed grey bin collection online 3 times & it's still sitting there (full) 11 days later. Tried to call - get cut off when you go through the main switchboard & no answer on direct number (have tried many times). I think my 11 year old son could run it better.
Trying to get my dads bins emptied. Filled in request form for assisted collection last year. Bins do not get emptied. Been on to council. They said they had sorted it. Have they heck. Filled in another assisted collection form. Still cant get them collected. Dead loss. Disgusting treatment for a 91 year old with heart trouble.

Garden brown bin. What service? Two missed collections. Eight communications with North Herts council to sort. Stonewalled. No action taken. No shame.... Nothing changed my end, paid for collections etc.
