Worst billing department ever. I went to emergency room last Nov. (2013). I have been their patient since 2003. I never ever received bill from them. I was not very concerned because I was on high deductible plan and I had accumulated a lot before I went to their facility. So I thought they probably had settled with insurance company. Starting from May, I received all kinds of weird calls with area codes that I didn't recognized and with message about contacting another company. I thought they were scams and ignored them for a month. Eventually I was tired and called back to one of the numbers and turned out it was a collection agency. I paid $1,500 to North and thought it was over. No. I continued to receive phone calls about this matter and the bills were from different service providers which I didn't know anything about (I went to emergency room and stayed there and never was sent to anywhere). I asked for original bills. Turns out the hospital contracted to other service providers and they had wrong mailing address. That was extremely frustrating and annoying. They ruined my credit for not doing their job right.

The doctors were amazing. The care I received in ICU was top notch. When i was moved to the 2nd floor most of my care was great. Therr were times I felt more of a nuisance than anything else. Other than that my stay was very good..

I had an awful experience at this hospital. I went to the ER because I was feeling ill, had a lump on my neck and tingling on my face. From the moment I walked into the building, I was treated as someone who was faking her symptoms and did not receive proper care. Do NOT see a Nurse Practitioner named Joy Patterson. This woman is extremely disrespectful, she roles her eyes at you, and is very combative. It's a shame how difficult it is to see a doctor in the ER these days, I finally saw a doctor last 30 minutes of being at the hospital but he didn't seem concerned or show care towards me as well as being evidently agitated that he even had to provide care to me. Very disappointed! Joy Patterson needs to re-evaluate her interest in the health "CARE" field.

This hospital makes you feel unimportant, like your just a number.

It was a good experience EXCEPT they did not stay in contact with my husband and lost me in recovery. I started surgery at the women s center but since my surgery took longer and it started late, I was transferred to main hospital for recovery and my husband was not informed so he had to go to security and they had to call around to find me.

The staff that took care of me were wonderful. They were happy and upbeat. We joked around which kept me from being worried. Yet they were very professional. My Doctor is awesome with a great team.

I was disappointed with people in the waiting room. Family of the patient's (young healthy people), did not give up their seats to people with walkers or canes. Society has become rude and disrespectful.

I have never been so disappointed in hospital care. Alarms on my father's monitors have been alerting in the er for over an hour, we have had the nurse light on for over an hour for bathroom help, haven't seen his nurse in 3 hrs, and can't get any help. I pray the floor staff is better than this. I struggled even giving it 1 star.

I had always had a caring staff and doctors on previous visits to this hospital until today. I am truly devistated by a so called Dr. S***ani, this arrogant egotistical person admitted me into the hospital for 4 days. I saw him 2 times, he made no extra attempt to find out what is wrong with me. I have been unable to turn my head, shadows in my in the corners of my eyes, so dizzy I am unable to walk in a straight line and he says after 4 days, he cannot find anything wrong with me. I've been crying with a headache during this entire stay but I had to contact an outside doctor to get S. to even do an mri on my neck and head and he walks his arrogant self in and says he's discharging me. Ok well what's wrong he admits he hadnt got the results of the mri back but he can't find a thing wrong. I'm still throwing up and dizzy if anything happened to me I want my family to sue these people. Even the staff said the way I was treated was wrong and I'm not the first person to complain about him. I will never return here again. And S.I just want you to know that karma can be a very ugly thing and I pray no one ever treats you the way you did me. You are a disgrace to the medical profession. No one should ever have to force a doctor to help them. You suck.

Overall, I had a good experience.
The contactless registration worked okay, though a scanner or camera on the front of the unit would have made it easier for me and my injured foot.
They did a good job of estimating my waiting time and I was in a room, not a lobby.
I would have preferred more definite instructions from the doctor, in addition to the papers handed to me, especially, since I was from out of town and seeing a podiatrist the following week and transferring records for a buddy-taped toe seemed unnecessary.
Finally, it would have been nice had someone made certain I made it safely out the door. I was a bit wobbly, so an escort, in case I toppled, would have been reassuring.

I went in to get the ETS Hyperhidrosis surgery last week and it turned out great! I ve researched many facilities and their pricing including California but all were over-priced. Pricing to me is a big deal but so is the man in the white coat that s doing the procedure. Dr. Klodell was phenomenal and so was everyone else. I ll call them the team of prodigies. Thanks!!

A family member of mine who was scheduled to have their baby there Thursday HAS BEEN WAITING and STILL IS as of Saturday at 10 PM! No Good excuse for this! Family members had to return home due to this dragged out situation. I hope North Florida Regional Hospital are happy with themselves! Cause you just lost future services for me for this poor "call back multiple times" services! If it was me, I would be making them eat their bill. If I were you,Don't have your baby there! And this coming from a man!

My daughter got sent to North Florida Regional from another hospital for high white count in spinal lumbar fluids. Dictors stillCannot tell her if she has viral meningitis or bacterial meningitis after 6 days in hospital with cultures and test. The Other hospital did a bothched throat covid test said positive and they have did two nasal test that results showed negative both times.she was put on covid floor where she takes risk of contacting it. The food is horrible. A Nurse charging for meds that never came to her in the room at time the meds were scanned because I was on phone with her. Charge nurse not polite. So many faults with this hospital have. I contacted a lawyer .Why put a young mother of 4 where she can be exposed to a disease with two negative test results.I'm working on getting my daughter moved to Flagler where she can get real answers on spinal fluid count and proper diagnosis.

My Husband was admitted for heart issues a couple years ago. The staff and Doctors were absolutely wonderful. His care was great, professional and personal. The nurses were wonderful. The only issue I have is the fact we had little insurance coverage and made arrangements to make monthly payments. We have NEVER missed a payment. When I called to see what our balance was and why we have not ever received a statement. I was greeted by a very rude person who did not speak very good English. She said I needed to pay $50 a month when the agreement was for $35. Our balance is just $350. After all this time of paying $35 and unable to pay more and almost paid off she was very rude. It was quite upsetting.

I felt cared for and supported while at NFRMC for the birth of my first child. The labor and delivery team is dedicated, knowledgeable, and very responsive. The maternity staff was compassionate and thorough. The lactation consultant very supportive and helpful. I am so grateful the staff of NFRMC was part of my birthing team.

In addition to the exceptional nursing staff, the nutrition and housekeeping staff were kind. Our rooms were large with good space for my husband to sleep when he could, and I felt my baby was very safe and secure in the new maternity floor.

Thus hospital is horrible! My husband went in at 6:00 am as told to do for a cardio vascular operation. We waited over two hours before he was taken into pre-op then he had to wait another three and a half hours before he was taken into surgery. It was supposed to be two to three hours and after five 1:2 hours of surgery and several calls on my part, he was moved to cv-icu but NO ONE EVER CAME OUT TO THE WAITING ROOM OR CALLED ME TO TELL ME WHAT WAS GOING ON! Then the next morning they got him up and left him on a chair (in intensive care still) for 5 1/2 hours while he was cold and he didn t see his nurse for over two hours in that time so he felt abandoned and uncomfortable and was cold.

I have been to the ER at North Florida Regional Medical Center 6 times in the last 3 week each time suffering from severe abdominal pain and deliriousness each time they run the same test take cat scans blood test they even test to see if I am on drugs. It all comes back negative, I am glad of that, But why do they keep discharging me if I am not well I only want them to find out what is wrong so I can enjoy my life. The staff is very rude they laugh at you (because I have been there so many times) I spoke to the administrators to see if they would help, I can tell you they are there for damage control only. The head administrator must allow this type of culture or he is totally oblivious to how his Hospital is running. This is a health care facility? (SCARY) POOR not even Fair

In 2016 I was taken to the er via ambulance, had a heart attack and hemoraggic stroke couldn't speak when they brought me in I couldn't move any of my side was trying to get words out but they just wouldn't come out. After a while I was finally able to speak my first name. I had been in a few months prior for a severe stroke that had my right side paralyzed. Had been through pt to gain use back and it still was not fully. While in er the first couple nurses that had come in were trying to get me all hooked up, but then I had the attending??? or whatever she was come in and because I was not able to answer her questions or respond fast enough preceeded to tell the nurses I faking it and let me lay there for 3 hours without any one even coming in to see me. By the time my husband made it hospital about 20 minutes after I had got there he sat in waiting room for a couple hours because they told him I wasn't there. The ambulance people gave them all my information that they had collected when they picked me up, I spent a hole week in that place before they would let me out. ER dept sucked. Once I was brought to a room they were great. They took good car of me, but the er, was rude and I don't care if a person comes in and cant communicate they should not be treated like that. I refuse to go back to that hospital for any of my strokes. After all that stay I was sent to a shands neurologist and cardiologist whom found the problems and why I was having blood clots to my brain within a three month period of being out of the hospital.

Then two months ago I had to go see my mother in law lay in that place in and icu unit for weeks. She went in for a gout flare up and couldn't get the swelling out of her legs. She had been in and out of the hospital for a year. They wouldn't give her any different Lasix to try and get the swelling down, her last stay was her last. She laid there and slowly drowned in her own fluids. They never went in to remove the fluid from her lungs, they didn't give her anything to drain it, no pain medicine, she slowly died.

As a nurse myself, I was extremely disappointed with how my family was treated by some of the staff at NFRMC. My father, who is suffering from lung cancer was being transported from the ER to CCU, and his ER nurse Heather asked a student nurse to come along "just for fun". I have no problem with this as I was once a student nurse learning clinical skills myself.
What I did have a problem with however is when my mother and I arrived to the CCU (separately of course, they wouldn't let us ride on the elevator with them) and we seen them going into his new room, Heather rudely stated to us "No, no, no...I told you to go to the waiting room". The room was plenty big enough for my mom and myself to stay while they settled my father in, and there was no emergent situation going on that we would be in the way of, it just seemed as though we were inconveniencing them. When I asked if we could just wait outside the room, another nurse mentioned something about "HIPAA". As a nurse, I'm very familiar with HIPAA laws. HIPAA is not violated unless a medical professional is discussing a patient's private health information where they shouldn't be. It was just an excuse, that nurse probably couldn't even tell me what the HIPAA acronym stood for. I was hoping my dad's new nurse in CCU, Charlotte would be our voice of reason, but she was of no help either.
I just found it interesting that the student nurse who had been in my dad's life for about an hour could stay, as Heather put it, "just for fun", but this man's wife and child who had been in his life for 40 years were forced to wait more than 30 minutes in the waiting room. That's 30 more minutes I could have spent with my dying father and my mother could have spent with her husband. Right now, every second is precious.
I have NEVER in my nursing career treated a patient's family like that. Family members are ESSENTIAL in providing quality care, not optional.
Thank God for people like Steve and Frank in RT, Beth in Case Management and Jeff the Nurse Tech or I would have NO faith in NFRMC's staff at all.

Worst Hospital in the state of FLORIDA once a pati...

Worst Hospital in the state of FLORIDA once a patient gets to the emergency room; is at the mercy of whatever medical Dr. is practicing that date. They do an evaluation: "standard" and after is determined that the patient is a candidate ($$$) for surgery, on the way to the surgery room who will do the surgery?? Guest what? The Surgery Group of Gainesville and most likely the novice or one that is doing the practice will perform the surgery. Thereafter, who will take care of the patient? The Physician Group of Gainesville will take care of the patient; a whole bunch of Dr.s that cannot make a clinical decision, and bounce their patients between their groups. The same goes for the Surgery Group. So, the patient is seen by a battery of Dr. s (groups) and no one will make a rational clinical decision because they do not want to be incriminated. Before the patient has seen 15 to 20 Dr. s, had many tests, a series of labs and 15 to 20 nurses have attended the patient and no one knows what is going on, they experiment with the patient until there is nothing else to experiment and no one makes a decision until it is time to go.. Who will be the patient nurses?? Travel Nurses, they come and go like day and night. It is all about the money and keeping the patient like a mushroom. It is called MODERN medicine making sure there are many people involved in the case so there is not a possibility for malpractice law suit. NFRMC = A place to suffer; A place to die. Oh, but they get the patient released of the hospital before he/she last days of life so it is not on the Hospital record. They have it down to a science. If you love your family, keep them away from this hospital. I lost my Mother at NFRMC. She was not only butchered, but poorly taken care off and because she was an old lady she was treated as a disposable person = exceeded her life expectancy so it is time to go . My mother has pas away and I am still clueless what caused her death. NFRMC: a Horror place to receive medical care. Stay away from NFRMC!!!! You will be glad you did.

DO not go to this hospital. The nursing staff doesn't care about getting to the patient. My mother had a nurse named Mike and he told me that he didn't have enough time to take my mother to the bathroom because he was entering notes. Other times they told her to just have a bowel movement in her bed. The left hand never new what the right was doing. Three weeks of hell for my mother.

The service here was a million times better than we got at Lake City. At least the staff here knows what they are doing. Even though they are crazy busy, they manage to treat their patients well and for a jam packed ER, we were only there 4 hours so kudos to them. We spent 5 hours in slow Lake City and they couldn't even fix a dislocated shoulder....WTF!!!!

I was an inpatient for two nights following elective surgery. I acquired a very nasty infection while in the hospital. My room was old, dirty, noisy, and full of bacteria. The hospital acquired infection rate is high at North Florida Regional Hospital. Better to go to Mayo in Jacksonville. Much lower infection rate. I could have died from my hospital acquired infection. I had to pay a fortune for the antibiotics to get over it. Not even an apology from North Florida. Stay away from this germ center.

This hospital is a joke I would not take my dying dog here. I will give jus 1 of many fine experiences my family has endured at this facility, in January 2017 our father was given the wrong meds for 5 days !!!! After we had made them aware of this incredible mistake they still continued to TRY and give him the wrong meds. We had a meeting with the Director of nursing and my family was told we expected to much from them apparently if you expect your loved 1 to get the proper meds North Florida is not the place to go. I could continue but I won't. Just please keep an eye on your loved there my husband stayed around the clock with his dad after this incident.

My Sister was taken very ill. The care at this facility is fantastic. Each Department works diligently to see that the patients needs are met. Treatment employed is state of the art. I especially appreciated the Doctors that came in so relaxed, unrushed and caring. The Nursing staff is exceptional! The 6th Floor Nursing and MD team are among the best I have ever encountered. I am so grateful to them all for taking such great care of my Sister.

Had a baby here in September. Very disappointed how we were treated during our stay. We did not get our celebration dinner like we were told during our maternity tour. Did not get wheeled out in a wheelchair or even offered to be. Also took them forever to discharge us when the discharge was put in at 11:14 a.m. and we had to wait around until 4:30 p.m. just waiting on a prescription to get called in when we didn t even need to wait there for it.

Went in about 9 pm with a severely sprained and possible broken ankle/foot from a fall. Had a huge swollen knot on my ankle. Didn't get out until 2 am. In that time most of the people were nice but they did nothing. Xrays showed nothing broke so they said they would put a half splint on but couldn't because of the swelling. Nurse asked the NP about that and she basically said stick it on anyway. It was just hanging there. All that time I was offered no ice or to put my foot up. Just basic first aid I could have done at home. We left and stopped at drug store and got ace bandage and I bandaged it up myself so I could walk. Cant wait to see how much they charged me for all that waste of time.

I recently had a tonsillectomy. From pre-op to post-op, everyone involved with the surgery was wonderful! Misdiagnosed serotonin toxicity as simple vertigo even though I informed them I was on a medication that boosts serotonin. If I didn't feel like I needed to go for a second opinion elsewhere, I could have died. Less than two days later i had a horrible attack from the disease after 14 years without one. I went back with a family member who took me. The only decent person working at that point was a male nurse who was very knowledgeable, but the two so called Doctors where horrible! The one came in and sat and looked at me for ten mins when i advised i had meneries i could tell he had no clue! The other so-called Dr. Came in and stared at me then went out with his drawers hanging down! Really how disgusting. Not very professional at all! So i suffered till the next day when i went to see the ENT! I would not recommend this facility during the day, go somewhere else

Never have I ever been treated so crappy, I come in with sever chest pains and was taken back to have EKG done and blood work. I sat in the lobby 3 hours hurting and in tears with pain coming and going. While other pactents would go back to have test done and sent back to the lobby to wait more. SINCE WHEN IS THE LOBBY A WAITING ROOM, now we are paying to be treated while we are shuffled around the lobby. That is nasty and very rude for everyone. I use to think that this hospital was the best of the best but I see now it isn't nor are the ladies in the check in area ........ They should have been cleaning their area instead of laughing and playing on the clock.

I felt very well cared for at NFRMC. I was there for cervical surgery. Everyone was wonderful from check in to check out. My room was very nice. I had to have help getting in & out of bed, and someone would come sooner than expected at all times. This was my second trip here in about 4 years. Nurses were very friendly and always asked what I might need, even making suggestions to make my stay better. My husband could have stayed overnights, but we have animals to be fed & live an hour away. If we had known earlier, we could have arranged for someone to care for them. I have waist long hair & nurses even braided it ( made me feel good to know at least my hair looked nice). One even tried to teach my husband how to do it! They certainly went above & beyond their normal duties.
My only con is the pre-op department. My appointment was for 3:00pm and I didn t leave until after 6:15pm.This was unacceptable. All I had done was blood draw, EKG, Covid test, weight, anesthesia test, and interview with a nurse. This should have been completed in an hour or less as in other hospitals pre-op testing. All this time my husband had to sit in the car!! He was not even allowed in the outer waiting room that was empty. It was very stressful!

I was a surgical patient, who was asked to arrive at 8am. I was on time, they took me back to pre-op on time, for a surgery scheduled for 11:40am. But that seems to be standard operating procedure for hospitals. <sigh> Arrive early and wait. Everyone was super friendly but everything wasn't moonlight and roses. After the pre-op nurses asked me for my best vein for the IV (and ignoring my response), the nurse, whose name I won't list here, promptly used the opposite side of my body and blew through 2 veins, causing me to briefly lose consciousness. So now I am sporting 2 hugh bruises on my right arm. Why did they ask me for the best sight for the IV if they weren't going to listen?

This is the most expensive hospital I have ever stayed at. I was asked to spend one night there for observation. Nothing was done except for 1 Cat Scan. They sent me a bill for just under 37K. I am in total disbelieve. This is twice as much as I paid for my home. I am disabled and on social security. This hospital is robbing our government blind! Under 24 hours of care and charging that kind of money is just being plain greedy. I cannot believe how health care in the United States of America has come to this. I am just Applauded.

Everyone there was just the kindest and most helpful! Without them I wouldn t have been able to get over my postpartum depression and pyschosis.
I also want to thank their CareFast option in the emergency for getting me fast help. As I was experiencing withdrawals from one of my medications.

I can t begin to say enough good things about this hospital. From the emergency room, to the AMAZING staff on the South Tower 4th Floor. Abby, Sara, Miranda, and Kisha..... THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!!! They were all around great. Everyone of them, from the housekeeping (Ms. Mimi a shining light in dark times, I enjoyed getting to chat with her so much each day). To the young lab tech that drew my blood, also amazing!!! From the nurses assist, to the RN s to the to the nutritional specialist. Even maintenance pop by to make sure everything everything in the room was working properly. I can t say enough good things about this floors team!!!

The care was exceptional and they answered all my questions with patience and concern. The Surgeon, his PA s and Hospitalist were all working together to keep me in the loop.

I came in with loss of sensation in my right leg after a pop while lifting a wheelchair, followed by an incontinence issue. They were very professional and help me from panicking more then I was. I was admitted the same night, and was seen by the covering surgeon the very next morning.

I m from the north, where we have John s Hopkins, and the University of Maryland, Sinai, I ve been in Florida for 8 years and I can honestly say that I won t be taking myself or my loved ones ANYWHERE else in the future, even with the hour drive time it s beyond worth it for such great medical care.THANK YOU NORTH REGIONAL TEAM FOR EVERYTHING!!!

My surgery is scheduled for April and I ve been putting it off for over 15 years, and I can say I m a lot less apprehensive about it then I ve been in the last 8 years since moving south because of this hospital!!!

I hadn t the displeasure of delivering my daughter here in April 2020. The staff was absolutely terrible, they turned such a beautiful, important part of my life into a nightmare. I told them I didn t want cervical checks and the residents made me feel uneducated and told me I need to get cervical checks. They also broke my water WITHOUT PERMISSION. I kept refusing the epidural and pain meds and the nurses seriously told me I didn t have to be that strong. While I was trying to use the bathroom that same nurse kept opening my bathroom door and when I asked for privacy she said no she had to be there. While pushing out my daughter they also told me to be quiet and hold my breathe while pushing. They forced me to labor on my back for their convenience and easy clean up. This hospital traumatized me and I will never ever EVER go there again.

Went to the ER in the middle of the night due to an esophagus obstruction. I was a tourist spending the night in Gainesville. I was greeted warmly and professionally. Dr Martin, Dana, and Shea took great care of me. I was very satisfied with my treatment!

Although a hospital experience is never a pleasant experience, the staff at North Florida worked very hard to make sure my stay was as pleasant as possible. The entire staff was courteous and kind as well as professional. I will always share this with anyone I know needed to use a hospital.

Unfortunately my overnight stay did not improve my condition in fact when I was discharged I was worse off than I walked in the day before. Turns out after an MRI a CAT scan and a chest x-ray the main issue I had was one of my meds which was not picked up by the medical staff. Kelly in the neurology department I believe she's a PA did point out this drug, aspirin-dipyridam ER, that I should not be on it after 28 to 80 days which I was, but she did not say that it directly can cause headaches. Unfortunately about 2 minutes after I was discharged I threw up violently off the hospital grounds I just made it on the other side of i-75. Fortunately I started feeling better later that day and much better the next day.

I like to thank him for granting my DPA.( Durable Power Of Attorney ). After them my Dr. D. Ripley check on me and said see you on the operating room then I don't know what happen I woke up in recovery room where the nurse remove the things the doctor said to remove before I go home. I stay few hours to recovery because am so tired but my Dr. Ripley check on me around 4pm or before 4 pm with her sidekick. So lovely, concerned and showing affection to her patients. It is a very good experience at all.

There were only two people in the waiting room when I arrived. I was in severe pain but it wasn't life threatening. My wait time from waiting room to exam by a doctor was approx. 30 minutes. My doctor was extremely thorough. Very pleased with his care and concern. Others... not so much. They were unable to diagnose my problem, but took appropriate tests and lined me up with a referral. CT scan girls were great. I would recommend North Florida Regional.

Has been a horrible experience from the start at ER.But understanding to situation.Reason for one star is we were admitted at 3 o clock this afternoon after checking in at 7am we have been unable to receive any of our regular meds. It is now 1 am and It has been 45 minutes that we mentioned to the staff several times and have not been treated .The nurse has been very non interactive with us from the beginning of her shift.Trying to understand why we have been admitted when we could do more for ourselves at home.Basically been refused treatment that they want to be paid for.I will say this is the first bad experience at North Florida

The care my mother in law is receiving is horrific. The doctors do not come on a regular rotation schedule and the blood work that must be done is missed daily by at least one shift and the setbacks are numerous. Why is it 1222pm and not one doctor has come to the room yet? Go to Shands, go to Tampa, go to Jacksonville where medical care has competition and priority. Not to mention, there aren't Sunday rounds. You may be lucky if you get dinner.

The pre-op nurses were amazing. The surgical staff was just as amazing. On the post-op side, they need a little more work. I personally was very upset with how I was rushed out after my surgery. I was still nauseous and still having affects from the anesthesia but when I asked for a second dose of anti-nausea medication I was hastily told that I would have to stay longer. Then the male nurse had to catch me as I almost fell trying to walk to the restroom and told me I needed to use the restroom so I could be released. I understand that I was outpatient but when someone asks for meds I feel they should put that patient at ease not their wants of you being released first.

My wife was admitted to the hospital the same day ...

My wife was admitted to the hospital the same day she was to get her second covid-19 vaccination that afternoon we were told that she could get her second shot at the hospital the doctor ordered the shot the appointment was set up for 11 the next day while she was still in the hospital the shot was canceled because the hospital said they couldn't open one vial of moderna without doing 6 shots. We were extremely upset at the hospital that they would put a bottle of moderna above the safety of my wife the injection should have been given. The second complaint is the number of HIPAA violations I saw in the ER. My wife and I were placed in a small 20 by 15 room was at least seven other patients there are having their medical issues disgust in a way that could be heard by all I would never go back to or recommend this hospital to anyone
