I go to nordc s teen career camp and so far I have not had a good experience at all. At orientation they said that we get paid $75 per week but we keep getting pushed back. Nordc has always had a bad system and if they do not give me my money this coming Friday, I will no longer be attending this camp job . I also want to say how horrible the lunch they provide is. They say that the food is delivered by a company called Fresh Food Factor but the food is not always fresh. They would give us soggy frozen chicken nuggets and cold fries.

I ve been working with Nordc has a lifeguard for about 5 years now. Nordc Aquatics staff is completely terrible and their system is very corrupt. The aquatics directors are not on the same page with each other when explaining the rules to other guards. Each one have different rules and they come making up their own rules, that don t follow Red Cross guidelines. Paperwork are not handled in a proper away, they tend to lose peoples paperwork in the main office. Aquatics staff don t present themselves as being professional, they come in talk to their guards any type of way like their slow or stupid. Something needs to change.

I was a resident of Milne Boys Home from 1982-1985 and although Milne was the last place I wanted to be at the time, it turned out to be the best place for me. I m glad that NORD put it to use helping the youth of New Orleans

About NORDC

NORDC: Providing Fun and Fitness for All Ages in New Orleans

The New Orleans Recreation Development Commission, or NORDC, is a government agency that provides recreational activities, classes, programs and special events for all ages at recreation centers, pools and playgrounds across the city of New Orleans. With a mission to enhance the quality of life for residents by providing diverse recreational opportunities that promote physical fitness, social interaction and cultural enrichment, NORDC has become an integral part of the community.

NORDC was established in 2010 as a result of the merger between two separate agencies - the Department of Parks and Parkways and the Recreation Department. The merger was aimed at streamlining services to better serve residents while also reducing costs. Since then, NORDC has been working tirelessly to provide high-quality recreational opportunities to people from all walks of life.

One of the key features that sets NORDC apart from other recreation providers is its commitment to inclusivity. The agency offers programs for people with disabilities as well as those who are economically disadvantaged. This means that everyone can enjoy fun activities regardless of their background or financial situation.

NORDC operates over 30 facilities throughout New Orleans including community centers, playgrounds, pools and sports fields. Each facility offers a range of activities such as basketball courts, swimming lessons, dance classes and summer camps among others.

For children aged 6-12 years old there are after-school programs available which offer homework assistance along with various sports activities such as soccer or basketball games. These programs help keep kids active while also providing them with valuable educational support.

Adults can take advantage of fitness classes like yoga or Zumba which are offered at various locations throughout the city. There are also senior citizen programs available which include exercise classes specifically designed for older adults along with social events like bingo nights.

In addition to these regular offerings there are also special events held throughout the year such as holiday celebrations or outdoor movie screenings which provide fun entertainment options for families in New Orleans.

Overall NORDC is an excellent resource for anyone looking to stay active while having fun in New Orleans. With its wide range of offerings catering to all ages it's no wonder why so many people have come to rely on this organization over time!
