No 1 South African Review

We come to the shop when we visit Christchurch but most of our shopping is now on line. We have been buying regularly for years now and we have always had super service and customer care. On the one time that the goods were damaged during delivery every effort was made to ensure we were sorted out, which was fantastic. When you order its important that you provide your phone number so that in the case that something isn't available or cannot be provided as ordered they will contact you to agree a replacement or a change to the order. We have always been very happy with our purchases - especially the Wors and Biltong - we don't think there is anyone to touch No 1 SA shop on either of these products. You can also pre-order so that when the next consignment arrives they reserve what you want and contact you when its arrived - which we think is super. We also use telephone and email communication if anything needs checking - never a problem. Highly recommend to any South Africans in the UK. John A and family

I Went there to buy Boerewors today and found it . Sadly, it seems to be quite pricy these days.The shop is very narrow and restricted to shopping. The only one person in the shop rule is definitely "off putting" as it prevents you from wanting to browse (in fear of holding the next customerup). Sadly the social distancing has changed the whole welcoming feel of the shop. I won't return again until things are back to normal. I will have to source my items needed elsewhere.

Amazing south African shop with the BEST beef jerkey however it is quite expensive but it is 100% work it!

It's called No 1 for a reason. Very friendly staff who will help you find exactly what you want. The biltong is of such a high quality. My friends all enjoy some when they come to visit

I heard that they have fantastic biltong, so dropped in last night, and can quite honestly say it's the best biltong I have had in a long long time. Plus they're super friendly there. I'll definitely be going back more often.

Terrible, terrible, terrible! Will never order from this shop again. My husband ordered some goodies for me as a gift which did not turn up on time & the customer service following our complaint was appalling & aggresive. We are thoroughly shocked by their treatment of us considering their website even says 'we are completely dedicated to your total satisfaction'. Instead of sympathising with the fact that he missed a whole day of work by waiting all day for a courier that never turned up & trying to sort it out for us they instead told us we should Sympathise with the courier telling us that the courier was only human & must have been too overwhelmed that day to deliver our order. What awful customer service! We were understandably upset by this as we paid for this overnight courier service so should expect to receive the service we paid for & were within our rights to be upset when it didn't turn up as this is after all the courier companies business & if they can't supply the service/are overwhelmed then shouldn't have taken our money or at least should have phoned us if there was a problem. The shop were unwilling to even try to look at this from our point of view. We only received our items 5 days later & then on top of this once we opened the box some items in there were wrong/not what we ordered. They didn't have one of the chocolates my husband ordered(we had stated when ordering that if they didn't have anything to please remove it from the order) but instead of doing this & refunding him they just added any chocolates of their choice of the same value to replace it! We did not want the item they sent & would have expected a refund so that we could get this item somewhere else. We should not be forced to accept an item we did not ask for but again on complaining (which we were within our rights to do) WE WERE TOLD TO JUST STOP COMPLAINING AND ENJOY THE REPLACEMENT!? Had they not been so rude to us we may have let it slide & just accepted the replacement even if it wasn't what we wanted but after their awful customer service we decided instead to send it back to them & demand a refund.To this the shops reply was to THREATEN us by saying they were going to report us to the police for the vitriolic way we had spoken to them and suggested that we behaved like this all the time in order to get free goods! This is all completely uncalled for & out of order. Customer service out of the window again. We as unsatisfied customers had every right to complain about the service we received. This was supposed to be a treat from my husband(money is short so it was a special little something from our homeland to celebrate a special day but instead the entire thing was a headache from beginning to end & has actually made me ill). This is not right & I pray no other customer of theirs is ever treated in this manner as I wouldn't wish this upon my worst enemy.

Very pricey ten times more than it atually costs in SA

A real taste of South Africa. The team here are lovely, helpful, patient and friendly. If you eat meat, try the biltong, and if you miss biltong yes they do it fresh and amazingly well. You'll find Spur sauce, grapetiser, rusks and all the other flavours of SA in lovely company. Couldn't ask for more!

On your way to Bournemouth get some Tasty biltong and more! The Biltong was a good price per kg and super tasty! This is a lovely shop and I had great service! I would Highly recommend this shop! They stock all the favs - ceam soda, pine nut, Mazowe juice, mealie meal, huge stock of borewous and steaks too and so much more of the stuff we love Very easy to get to, there is parking right near the shop.

Brilliant shop for South African products the owners are very friendly and have stuck around for year's.

The most amazing biltong! Nom nom nom! I love the range of different meats and African products. You can't shop here a lot if you are on a budget but it's well worth a visit and saving those pennies! The staff and owners are wonderful and super friendly. It's always a pleasure!

Amazing little south African shop with all your little wants and needs from back home

As always friendly people. Amazing biltong. Treated myself for the drive home to normal biltong and a spicy one. Whenever I'm back in Bournemouth I try and go there.

When you need delicious South African meat, sweets etc. Then this is your place to go. One of the best South African shops I have been to.
