GO ELSEWHERE - I was a reliable customer for 7 years, but grew disgruntled with Nittany/Pickelner customer services. In particular their payment options discourage by penalizing those who prefer to pay electronically via credit card with higher per gallon rate charges. Furthermore, and probably the major reason I am transferring to another vendor is that their front office representatives in Williamsport treat the cash paying customers as a burden, with angry faces and looks of disgust. I began to dread the toxic face to face interaction that I had with them twice a year, so I'll take my business elsewhere and encourage you to do the same.

We have been on auto delivery now for ~3 years since we moved back into town. The office staff in State College are ALWAYS friendly. And, I like the fact that I can get a discount if I pay the balance off in 10 days. Thanks.

I called to have someone come out to bleed our line for our oil tank. One of the office workers knew no one could be out to my house today, and we didn't have heat. So he came out himself! He was there within 10 minutes, bled the line, taught my husband how it's done, and voila - heat! Best. Service. Ever. Couldn't be happier!!

I had Nittany replace an old beater of an oil-fired furnace. The hard part of the job was removing the old furnace that must have weighed 800 lbs or so. I was very heavy because it was an old coal furnace conversion to fuel oil. They had the big guys to do this removal. I don't think skinny guys could have got the job done. It definitely took a team built like the Pittsburgh Steeler's front four to move that old furnace. FYI, I did get several other bids to replace and Nittany had the best price and several choices of new furnace models to choose from.

Called them this morning for an emergency heat out...

Called them this morning for an emergency heat outage on a heat pump. They can't come until Thursday. Fair enough but about their statement about emergency repairs. Good thing it's not 10 degrees. All the woman wants on the phone is a payment method or for me to fill out a credit application with her credit manager. I realize no one will be home on Thursday. I told her we would leave the door open. She asks how will they get paid and asks for my credit card on the phone. I've never done business with this company and she wants a credit card over the phone. She hasn't scheduled the appointment yet. She doesn't care a bit about my problem. She wants paid and she is not hired yet. I told her I had to talk to my wife and would call back.

I talked to my wife. She changed her entire Thursday schedule to be there TO PAY THEM since that is all they care about. I call them back. The service manager hangs up on me. I call back again. I told them I was not impressed with how they have treated a potential new customer. I try to schedule the appointment. All she cares about is the money despite the fact that I told her my wife would be there that SHE CHANGED HER ENTIRE SCHEDULE TO BE THERE. The lady still asks me how they would get paid. If she had an address in the British West Indies I'd be thinking internet fraud. Finally, after much ridiculous back and forth I have an appointment. She doesn't even know the nature of my problem because she never asked me about that. She just asked about how she would be paid.

This company DOES NOT CARE about the needs of its customers, or even worse, its potential new customers. All it wants is money. I'd run from this bunch. Ridiculous!
