The accommodations were simple but comfortable. The food was delicious, and the rafting and boat cruise were top notch. Definitely worth the value. The free shuttle to and from Kampala is also a great feature for guests. Would definitely recommend.

Great place to stay when doing a day of rafting on the Nile. We stayed in the dorm rooms. They were clean, with hot showers and comfortable twin size bunk beds. The food is good and the beer is cold.
Though everthing seems a lil disorganized, everone is nice and very helpful. They will even pick you up from Kampala and take you back.

I had a really lovely weekend there!
The accomodation was really nice!
I stayed in a tent, but there are also normal rooms available. They have a great restaurant at the camp site. Also the rafting was one of the best expierences I made in Uganda. If you have the time, you should visit the camp. I would come back to Uganda, just for the camp.

Affordable lodge with a great view. We went with a package deal with an amazing rafting trip down class five rapids on the Nile. The crowds here at this site were really friendly. I'd recommend this place if you're looking to meet fun travellers and awesome rafting/kayaking options.

I had a fantastic time with NRE! Being a bit nervous to do the Grade 5 Extreme Raft & Riverboard as I was the only one there to raft that day -- Josh, Paul, Jackson, Stone and Moses took the best care of me! The Nile itself is beautiful so it was nice to enjoy the scenery between rapids. My colleague and I also enjoyed the sunset cruise that same day - and NCE accommodated us so that I could enjoy both -- it was the perfect way to wind down. Definitely recommend! Thank you!

I was on my way from Nairobi to Kampala, and my friend recommended I stop on the way in Jinja to raft with Nile River Explorers (NRE). Very happy I listened to him. The River Explorers Camp just outside Jinja had very cool vibes and was a fun place to stay for a night as a solo backpacker. The rafting the next day was a blast. My raft's guide, Hassan, did an excellent job preparing us for what to do for each rapid and made it fun. You could tell he really cared about making sure we had a great time. Can't recommend NRE enough.

NRE offers a fantastic base while you're visiting the Jinja area. We stayed for three nights.

Pros: The views (!!), Staff are fabulous, showers (hot), activities on offer and price ($35/night for a safari tent with amazing views).

Cons: This is a party place - we were kept up past 2am in both the safari tents and the double en suite. You just can't get away from the noise.

As an aside, in all our time in East Africa, this is the place I got bitten by insects the most - and we stayed in the Camp next door too without any problems! On our last night we actually had to move out of our tent because the bed was crawling with ants - we never ate in the tent, had no snacks and no drinks but sealed bottles of water. The staff responded brilliantly and we were offered a free upgrade to a double en suite room straight away. It's certainly not NRE's fault but worth bearing in mind.

Best place on the Nile near Kamapala.

Best place on the Nile near Kamapala.
Beat burgers and best pancakes too. Stand up Paddle board (SUP) was fun too and we always do the sunset cruise.
We do our white water rafting through NRE too and are never dissapointed. The River view tents are serene and beautiful, never dirty or questionable in any way.
We used the dorm once too, clean and tidy with mosquito nets. The tents are better though, the look right over the Nile.
There is wifi and always cold drinks at the bar.
If you are looking for birds there are some spectacular species around camp, yellow billed kites nest in front of the balcony and there are always Lady Ross's Turaco about, we've had bat hawks too, palm nut vultures and huge flocks of African Grey Parrots
We even had an abyssian ground horbill this morning.

Budget accommodation for backpackers. Nice grounds with a fantastic view of river Nile. You can camp with your tents if you like for a fee. Dorms were comfortable and the bathrooms were clean with hot water

I've been on NRE rafting maybe 4 times over the last 10 years.
Since the dams, the river and rapids have changed. Alot.
But NRE still executes an amazing day on the water.
A. Good rapids
B. Safe guide and free flow dude (Juba)
C. Bodyboarding at one of the river waves
D. Calmness to take in the riparian senses

This place is awesome. From tents and dormitories to the most beautiful views of the Nile anywhere in Uganda. You wake up to singing birds and monkeys sounds in the surrounding forest. I love this place.

I had an excellent experience with Nile River Explorers. My group had the pleasure of traveling down the river with Paulo. He was an excellent guide giving us the perfect amount of adventure and security on the Class 3 route. We had the pleasure of talking with the lead guide, Jemma/Juma (?), after the trip. NRE is a great organization doing wonderful things for tourists and the community alike. Highly recommend!

Did the rafting with this company, it s not cheap as a price. The experience was very boring compare to the ones I did in other countries. If you have great fun in your previous rafting, just consider this... you will pedal a lot and it s really not fun. Above all, they said will provide link for the free pictures they took during the rafting. But they have never sent it. Although the experience was poor, but I still admit that they do give a good service during the whole process.

6 of us stayed here and ended up paying to be taken to the bunji jumping lodge (great bathrooms, showers, and accommodations) to use toilet and shower uses. If you are a partier, its perfect - the music and singing on Saturday night goes to sunup and we were advised by management at checkin that rafting with a hangover is to be expected. Not the best place for exploration and 45 minutes to 1.5 hours away from the start and end of whitewater. I would estimate they had over 80 women using 5 working toilets when we got there (and before all 5 filled to overflow) - worse place we stayed in 12 days Uganda.

Directly on the Nile and close to rafting. There are monkeys in the trees of the campsite that you can watch playing on the branches from the morning. You can book kayaks, sunset boat rides, walks in the nearby village. They also help you with transportation to go to Jinja, Kampala or the airport. You eat well and you can never miss a good glass of cold Nile Special.

I must say that we had an amazing time with the whole NRE team (big up for Captain chicken legs)!

Everything from the beginning (nice breakfast at the camp) to the end (snack in the return bus) was thrilling and organized down to the smallest detail (some good surprises along the way too!), we knew we were in good hands :) Beautiful scenery, adrenaline and fun, what else?

Having lived in Uganda now (Kibibi) for six months and visited NRE on a few occasions, mainly for lunch. Sadly I have to report a decline in the quality and portions of whatever menu I have chosen, although this could be down to the chef who's preparing the meal. That said the views are spectacular and NRE is worth visiting for those alone.

The Rafting experience is amazing! We took our kids down the rapids too, and our guide always made us feel safe. We stayed in the family lodge, which was good for one night. But the music and partying never stopped, and for my kids it was not good watching this, whilst trying to order dinner. I would recommend the Backpackers lodge down the road. The staff there is amazing and it's more family friendly. We had to wait for over an hour for a basic breakfast, very slow service...

Excellent! All the staff were great! Very friendly. And the white water rafting could have been the best use of my weekend in a foreign country yet.

A big shout out to Nash, Mark, Josh and Ross (not to forget Yo) for making an unforgettable experience.

We had a great experience on our full day rafting trip. The equipment was in great shape, the crew was friendly, the bbq at the end in the trip was delicious. But mostly, as novices, we felt so safe with a safety boat and several safety kayakers nearby, ready to pick us from the water if we went in.

This is a clean and well maintained campsite, with a wide range of adventure activities on offer. The quad biking place just outside is good but they're very fussy on which U.S. bank notes they'll accept (you're out of luck if you've got anything issued before 2003). The whitewater rafting company operating out of this location is fantastic and provides many options that are difficult to find elsewhere. Reasonable prices and very safety-minded staff.

There's a cool treehouse, great views of the Nile, an 85 metre zip line that drops you right in the water and a cool slide that you can sledge down in to the water.

Nice place with great view over the nile. The staff is friendly, rooms are clean and food is nice. The only thing that I did not like is the noise in the evening. The play quite loud music at the bar and we got unlucky as there was a big group who were screaming and partying for quite some time.

Very amazing place with welcoming and friendly staff. It offers top quality rafting services, clean rooms and very delicious meals. It is suitable for couples and friends going out of the city for a weekend getaway or picnic. It's wonderful and would be glad to visit whenever in Jinja.
