NH Tropen Review

Had a lovely stay with my wife. The only concern was the thickness of the walls a and the very small toilet. And being told I will have a balcony but to arrive find no access to it.

A good hotel with some faults. Modern rooms with large windows overlooking a park and the Tropen Museum. Breakfast quite complete with high quality ingredients. As faults of the hotel for me there are two important: the space in bathroom and toilet is too scarce and there is very little place to store clothes or other things. In addition, there is no plug in the bathroom (a fault difficult to understand) or even next to the bed. Its location is relatively good, half an hour walk from the historic center and with a tram at the door.

Clean room, delicious breakfast and top service. Gladly again.

Small room uncomfortable beds and pillows. Caught for additional city tax on arrival and 50 extra for 4 very poor breakfasts on check out wouldn't recommend at all.

Hotel in the outskirts but very well connected with the center in just 10 minutes.

Very friendly and helpful. Next to tram stop and shops within walking distance. No fridge coffee and tea not replaced daily. Cleaning not up to standard.

3 person room, 3 night stay, ended up leaving with bites all over our bodies which we can only put down to bedbugs, puts me off staying at the hotel again, the staff are friendly but the cleanliness of the room is a massive let down.

In a city full of amazing buildings, this looks like concrete bunker. Yet, the rooms were pleasant with a great view of the Tropen Museum. And the lounge below (overlooking the park) is extremely peaceful.

I don't know why but I got a great sense of peace here.

The hotel is a good refuge from the main city which is besieged with tourists. There are some nice restaurants across and a lovely little park to walk through. If you get through the park, there's some outstanding coffee along the way.

I was super-skeptical when the taxi showed up at this hotel. I thought I had the wrong place. Sometimes looks can be deceiving.

I'd go back.

The outside of the hotel hid an amazingly modern interior. Service was friendly and helpful and the rooms were comfortable with all the required amenities.

The hotel is relatively centrally located at the Tropenmuseum. The decor is modern but worn. The view is nice.

Cleaned room, nice bathroom, very good and polite staff, but my room it has been very noisy due to heating system. :(

Comfortable big bed nice room very clean helpful staff and amazing selection at breakfast it's out of the hustle and bustle of the city centre but plenty of life around the area and easy tram ride to central Amsterdam

The hotel is gifted as it has an adorable park near to it

Large and comfortable rooms, easily accessible by tram, immersed in the park, an ideal place to visit, Amsterdam. Tea or coffee service is available in the rooms.

Room is nice, overlooking the Oosterpark with a kettle and tea/coffee provided. Service was pleasant enough, but not special. Overall pretty good place to stay as a tourist!

This is an ok hotel that you can get at a reasonable price. Quick to get into the centre of Amsterdam and there's a tram stop immediately outside the hotel. The rooms are a good side but the building itself is a little rough around the edges. If your not looking for thrills then this is the place.

Bad service, and I had to pay additionally 150.- Euros, for 3 breakfasts, which I did not have. Complaining did not help. The check-in lasted 2 hours!
Location is not bad, but there is not much around the hotel.
Better go to a bed and breakfast in Amsterdam!

If you are not deterred by the exterior of the hotel, then wait inside for a little surprise.

Good service. Quiet and always had someone at the reception to answer questions and help.

Room spacious and clean. The bathroom also very clean. The staff quite friendly, especially the girl in the mornings who has treated us these days. It is near the center walking but taking the tram you also arrive fast. The tram stops right at the door, number 9. We do not know how breakfast is because we booked without breakfast. We are very satisfied with the choice of this hotel.

Rooms very well maintained, also have hot water thermos to prepare coffee and infusions. The situation is a little away from the center, it is advisable to take a tram that passes in front of the hotel.

Our room looked tired. There was no fridge, no bathroom amenities, no drinking water. The bathroom door was creaking. The receptionist are friendly and welcoming. The maid-girl knocked the door even when we put "dnd" sign outside.
Overrated and overpriced as most hotels in Amsterdam.

Should definitely stay again

Excellent location, quiet and well served by public transport for many locations. Reception and restaurant with attentive and courteous staff. Careful cleaning of the bedroom and bathroom, little replacement of the shower gel and floor mat.

Quite nice experience: clean and polite personal. The location isnt really in the center.

Stunning views of the park and the city, spacious and bright room, a bit noisy at night with the music of the park. Great breakfast overlooking the park among the trees.

Nice and helpful staff. Good location to public transport. Rooms could be cleaned better. Breakfast is not worth it. Better make a coffee in the room and then go to the city for breakfast. If you need a room to stay in the first place is in good hands here. Cozy park next door.

Great hotel, I would definitely come back. Good service, lovely breakfast and very pleasant surroundings. Close to tram stops and far enough out of town that it's not noisy (Late November anyway) only thing I didn't like was the pillows. Square and lumpy!

This is a lovely hotel in a great location, it s belts and braces but clean and good value. Great transport links, 10 mins from muiderpoort station and very close to a lovely market.

Room was ok. Good connection with the central station and other attraction in Amsterdam.

Very nice hotel which is believed the proximity to the center has a lot of green areas outside. Very fresh for a pretty cheap money!

The hotel has unfortunately a problem with the cleanliness. I was there for a few days and every day the dust layer on the shelf, on the bedside table and the heating became thicker and thicker.
The worst thing was: I was stung several times by a bed bug! That's why I would never go to this hotel again.

On the other hand small room and bedding not great.

5 stays during the Easter period at this establishment and we were never disappointed.
The hotel is simple and the rooms comfortable.
The only downside would be the price, which can vary from simple to double depending on the year without anyone knowing why ...
Tram 50 meters away which takes you to Dam Square in 10 minutes ...

Wonderful search for park and city (10 floor of 10), rooms clean, personal from the reception very helpful. Quiet part of town, right next to tram stop c.9. Children like it here.

very good hotel .no central but walking 20 minutes. I liked the room, the bathroom maybe not since it was separated from the sink and shower in another room .. but the views fix everything. the spectacular breakfast .. with great views of the park. It has water and candy in the hall, they also have bike rental service at 16.50 euros. and good quality TV and bed, the Spanish TV channels and that is appreciated. I would go back without a doubt. the people who work there only one guy spoke Spanish and they were all very friendly.

It's in a nicely located just outside of the main city center. There are plenty of restaurants within a a few minites. There is also a beautiful park and nice flea market within five minutes.

Horrible filthy "hotel". The room was dirty and untidy. No coffee or clean glasses.in the bathroom some pieces of broken tissue holder that were dangerous.
The worst was the checkout. Although we paid for all taxes and extras in advance, they forced us to pay extra 50 for city tax. We wrote them about the "mistake", but they choose not to react and not to pay back the already paid tax.
YOU ARE ALL WARNED!!!
There is no direct transportation to the center of Amsterdam.
Be careful if intending visiting there, or just have extra money to pay for what you already paid.

Ok hotel with a very good location, beautiful views, good cleaning and polite staff. There are, however, many small things that make the stay less pleasant. To name a few: the temperature of the shower is constantly changing, very strange square pillows that are not comfortable, unpainted piece of wall which is an eyesore, an old elevator that does not feel safe. All these small things ensure that I would choose another hotel for a longer stay.
