The New Yorker is a true delicatessen it has been around for ever. Great Sub's and my wife says the Reubens are the best she ever had. Come with a big appetite because the portions are huge. They have kid's menu. They have beer and wine too. Any time we are in Roanoke you will find us there.

Wow! You can't beat the New Yorker Deli on Williamson in Roanoke, VA. The food is excellent, but you can tell that for yourself as the parking lot is usually packed. I personally get the Torpedo sandwich and ask them to, "burn the bologna," but you'll find the menu is quite extensive. They're always closed on Mondays. They do not accept credit cards - CASH ONLY! Enjoy!

Worst food poisoning I've ever had. My friend and I met there for lunch Friday and we both became sick shortly after. It's been days and I'm still not back to normal. I am going through the proper channels to make a formal complaint with the health department. Nothing in the restaurant seems clean. I used to go to the New Yorker often and enjoyed it but haven't been in a few years. I was excited to go back but I never will again.

The ceiling was filthy. Outdated decor and menu. Also, staff was unfriendly. When I ordered, it was like I was speaking another language, because I thought that you could order somerhing off the menu. I was just met with a dumbfounded stare. My sandwhich's bread was stale and tasted like it was mivrowaved, and it was a steak roll, not sandwich bread. The cheese was stale also. As I was leaving, I looked in the dessert case, and the "amazing" cheescake had an orangish tinge. I definitley breathed a sigh of relief when I got out of there. Please, if you ever plan on going here, reconsider!!!

I love the New Yorker! Their only downfall is that they ONLY accept cash...what's up with that? Who even carries cash nowadays? At least put an ATM in the lobby to get cash out, that would really help out!! Best subs in the valley by far.

Located on Williamson road the New Yorker, is a landmark of Roanoke. From a great meal in a sandwich, the New Yorker sub, to great New York style cheese cake, this place has excellent food. My family has enjoyed this establishment, for four generations. And it is family owned and operated. The New Yorker also does take out, call up, place your order and it is ready in 20 minutes or less.
It is cash and carry only, no checks or credit/deblt cards.

I live in VA Beach now. When people ask me where to get a good sandwich, I tell them to take 460 to Roanoke and turn right on Williamson Road for about a mile to the New Yorker Deli. There are a few bigger, a lot fancier, a few cheaper, but none better.

The worse service I have ever received. I will never return or recommend. I waited several minutes (this was a call in order) for service and one employee walked right past me and didn't acknowledge me and then there were 3 more employees chatting it up at the meat slicer who also ignored me. BAD BAD SERVICE.
