Very clean and new. Pool is a perfect temperature for lap swimming
This place is great. The pool is great too kids love to come to this pool is bigger
Love this Y! Friendly staff and great classes! I go to a variety of YMCAs in the tampa area, this is my #1 spot if you love Zumba!
Warm, friendly and family atmosphere. An enjoyable place to be.
Very disappointed with the summer lessons for my girls, different teachers very often, and they hardly keep up with the same routine, kids get wild because there isn't enough consistency with the routine.. and for swimming lessons it is more the waste of time that my daughter was waiting for her turn to be taken...
A couple of months ago I dropped Reginald off early during the day so he could get out of the house and hang out. He had always felt the YMCA was his safe haven where he could be himself and not be teased and/or harrassed. One of the employees called me and said Reginald should not be dropped off early and that I should tell him to stop interacting with the staff because he was disrupting them and keeping them from doing their jobs. Reginald is 30 yrs old and can hear. He has never had issues nor has anyone over the past few years ever said he was a problem. If he was, she could have talked to him. Reginald was an employee of the Fayetteville, NC YMCA and the parents, staff and kids loved him.
Reginald said after i continued to drop him off your staff member continued to harrass him. My son has been depressed for months now and I will not continue to pay for a membership he cannot utilize and feel free to attend without being harrassed.
Great place for fitness with the swimming pool and the basketball courts. It would be nice if the YMCA had more programs for adults as far as team oriented sports such as an adult basketball teams much like the one for children. That will get more people involved I believe. I would not recommend going here at the hours of 4pm-7pm. It's pretty much a elementary school at that point and kids running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Other than that, everything is pretty great at this place.
I'm a little surprised by all those 5-star reviews. I came from the Health and Wellness center at Wesley Chapel for the location of this YMCA. With $5 more monthly fee, you get much better facilities at Wesley Chapel: fancier and adequate equipment, digital locker, sauna, indoor pool, etc. I understand the YMCA has great kids activities but I have to say the locker room and the equipments are filthy. The shower curtain cannot even cover the entire door and the equipments are far from enough. The yoga mats in the multipurpose room are beyond description. You don't even want to touch them with your feet. The swimming pool is closed when it's raining, which means it should be close for the entire raining seasons starting in May. Even now, the lines are either taken by team training or kids activity. With this facility, I think this place is overpriced. It should either upgrade its facility (at least the locker room) or lower the price.
DESCRIMINATION AGAINST PEOPLE OVER 50, THE POOL IS ALWAYS CLOSED TO EVERYONE BUT CHILDREN. TRY TO SWIM AND YOU WILL GET SHOWN THE DOOR!!! THE LIFEGUARDS ARE ALL TEENAGERS AND THEY LOVE TO BOSS PEOPLE AROUND WHO ARE OLDER THAN THEM.
It is a sense of community. A place where you can work out with friends and meet new ones. Where strangers in a class have a common bond and then become involved in each other s lives. Friendships that cross cultural boundaries.. It is more than a gym, it is a place where children learn to swim so they will survive in the water, where cancer survivors can find support.
He teaches exercise too insincerely. The gym teachers have no order and do not convey information accurately. The house is so close that I can't help it.
It's a clean, safe environment with a courteous, very helpful staff. Joining the Y may have literally daved my life.
Great place for family gym membership. Plus they have a corporate discount program. The place I work gave my family 10% plus a waiver for joining fee
We look forward to going to the New Tampa YMCA because the staff there are friendly and ready to help you. My kids love being in the pool and their instructors.
Jill and her team at the New Tampa YMCA are just great people to know and interact with. Everyone that I have dealt with (Jill, Steven, Nick, Amber, Jordan, Lisa, and other names I don't remember right now) are just superb professionals. My two children also do spring and summer camps there, they love it absolutely! A special thanks to Jill and Steven for their empathetic support regarding my childcare needs.
This YMCA has a great family atmosphere that fosters a great sense of belonging, I feel like family when I am there. My girls are always happy to greet their counselors on and off camp seasons. I get to work out and maintain good health while my kids have fun and adventure, while learning good morals and values.
I've only been once, but the facility is nice and clean, staff are friendly and apparently more than happy to spot for you. They have a decent selection of weight and cardio machines, nice indoor basketball court, and a lap pool. It cost my wife and I about a hundred dollars to join and about fifty a month for membership. They have a wide selection of classes and programs, from yoga, to martial arts, to zoomba, and they are all free. Again, I've only gone here once, but it was nice and I was pleased with the facility.
Amazing place for a perfect family ... kids have play areas taken care when parents are in gym or swimming. Kids swimming classes are very good ... the only place to hang out after my office hours ... Great place
They have a good variety of classes but the facility smells like sweat and BO, at times really strong....and they convert it to a Church on Sundays until 1PM. :/
Very friendly and professional staff. I don't love that the gymnasium is open and central to the rest of the facility, and the outdoor pool is huge but with no deep end nor diving boards. I'm learning this is mainly a risk-averse litigious-phobic southeast US problem. YMCAs north and west have more exciting and risky endeavors available. Having said that, I have to be honest and point out the indoor climbing wall and gymnastics room. Unusual for a Y and cool to see. But I do weep for all the beautiful pools with no diving.
However, this Y is not bad. The men's locker room was not terribly clean, but it was a Sunday and cleanliness can be an issue near the end of the weekend. The staff was great and the wellness equipment was more than satisfactory. All the wellness staff is personal trainer certified.
Love this Y! It's always very tidy and also the staff is very friendly and caring.
lots and lots of stuff to do. there is a place where u can let ur baby's can go and the stuff will take of them and not to mention the staff are very nice. and there is youth zone where children 6-13 or 15 can play or read a book in. plus there is an amazing gym, there are yoga, indoor bike thingy and fitness classes. also trainers and there is a very big pool. plus there is foot ball practice and soccer practice and volley ball and basket ball practice, but you do have to pay for them. and the age range varies a lot.BUT the one thing that bothers me is there is no flipping soccer field or volley ball field or foot ball...you have to go to a assigned place there is only a basket ball field or what every u call them. so except for that everything is good.
WOW! When I arrived at the gym this morning I did not recognize the place. The mirrors along the free weight wall were all new. The floors shine and the windows are so clean that they appear to have disappeared. For the first time since I can remember all of the lights in the room were working. Move over LA Fitness, the Y is the place to be. Hats off to the maintenance director for doing a great job.
It has it's flaws but the pool is a decent size the summer camps are really exciting the staff are very positive I would definitely recommend this place to others
Great facility and a very friendly staff. I've been working out here for the last two weeks. I'm a national member and I have been using this location while on vacation. The staff has been treating me very well and they are always very helpful. I'll definitely come back here next time I visit the Tampa area.
Friendly and helpful staff. Clean and well maintained facility.
We love the Y (the equipment, the clean locker rooms, the staff, and the programs)!
My sister and I love this place. We do camps there all the time. There is even a location called camp Cristina that we went to this year. Camp Cristina is a camp area that has archery, paintball, horseback riding and much more. There is a bus for campers to ride on to camp cristina. faculty members and equipment that YMCA members are allowed to use. Pool is always clean. Has kid centers for children all ages to go to while parents work out. There is a 18 month to 3 year old area were smaller children go to. 100% recommend it. It is like your normal YMCA.
Facility clean.
Staff friendly.
Teachers Awesome.
I would recommend the New Tampa YMCA because the amenities are abundant. The work out area is spacious & has all the equipment you could want, they offer a lot of exercise classes with a great variety, the trainers are great & well priced, the pool is amazing, they have free coffee, they staff is incredibly friendly & of course because of all the good that the YMCA does for people.
Amazing atmosphere! Family friendly! Free childcare services, 2 hours max and free. Clean. Lots of classes. Affordable. They will work with you if you cannot afford regular rates. Over all a great place to be to get healthy. No judgment zone. Members are different ages, shapes, sizes and come from different backgrounds. See you there!
I delete my first review try give him another chance but I believe know they don't have any experience in management they take our money with no service, they charge me 100 dollars for daughter she play volleyball and they don't have only 1 coach for 3 teams and asking the parents to coming train the kids
It's got everything you need to workout and tons of programs for families!!
Customer service needs improvement. When I walked into the Center to renew my membership there were 2 staff members helping a customer after about 5 mins one of walks away without even addressing me. I waited another 15 min before asking the lady if she had any help and she stated she was the only one working the counter. Finally after another 10 mins I left without renewing.
Beautiful facility. Must go inside to appreciate everything they offer. Constantly being cleaned and maintained. Hours open fit all people's needs, although not opened 24 hours.
This is a wonderful facility with polite and attentive staff. Thank You!!!!
This place is a disaster. The women who is in charge of the weight area (Shelley) is not concerned about safety whatsoever. I reported many safety issues to her and she dismissed them. Then when I reported them to the higher ups and they were corrected she constantly treated me with disdain and disrespect. The new director Robyn allowed a man back onto the gym court that tried to physically attack me because she has a friendship with him outside the Y. This place does not value the safety of any member. They only listen to the elderly with safety concerns. I can not recommend enough that nobody use this ymca.
Part 2: Hey owner what about the time you had a janitor mop the treadmill I was working out on? I was running at an 8 minute pace and the janitor took his wet mop and mopped the treadmill while I was running. Talk about a safety concern. Again when reported to your executive director Robyn she didn t care and said they have a contract with that cleaning company so nothing can be done. Oh that the janitor don t know not to put a wet mop on a treadmill someone was running on. Boy YMCA you really hire top notch cleaners if they don t know not to put a wet mop on a treadmill. Someone is going to get seriously injured or even die with the way they run it.
Do NOT have Robyn contact me. She is the problem. If you really cared you would have done something when I complained.
They have classes to suit every fitness level and all ages. The instructors are very talented, energetic and inspiring. Katie is making the Live Strong program so interesting and challenging. We aren't made to feel like sick people. She recognizes that we each have different abilities and tailors the program to us, while staying aware of each individual's strengths. I look forward to my workouts.
This was our first camp experience and it was a great one! My daughter loves it. She comes home full of excitement telling me how much fun she had and how cool the staff is! I appreciate the care and genuineness of the Camp staff. Thanks a lot see you all next summer! ( This review is based off the CAMP experience ONLY)
I expressed my disagreement with the kids playing soccer on the basketball court Indoors (some kid kicked it hard and it came a half inch from my head over the low railing. The director assured me that she would informed the staff to discont. playing but the next week they were back at it. I would recover from a hit if I dare go back to this location to workout but I'm not sure about the elderly!
I've been to several gyms in the area and this is the top of the list (was close, Strive fitness is very good, but their locker room and some other reasons put them in second) so far for a few reasons. They have a great range of equipment and it is all in great condition. They have have a huge pool as well. The people that work and use the gym are mostly all super friendly too, which is not the case in most gym environments! Also, their locker room and bathrooms / showers are large and very clean. Not to mention all of the other options like basketball courts, volleyball, etc . There really aren't many gyms out there that offer this much at such a great price. They also have a great discount if someone refers you there too! Keep it up guys! :)
Great environment for adults and children. Lost of learning activities as well as safe areas that they can play and learn while the adults work out. There are several extra curricular activities to keep them occupied like karate, gymnastics and swimming. My son absolutely adores the YMCA!!
It's a nice Y. The equipment is new or in excellent condition, plenty of space. I also thought the place was thoughtfully built; pads around the basketball courts, rubber floors for the free weight area, etc. They even have a climbing wall and rope!
Great selection for anyone at a decent price. Classes are good, especially cycling. I've never seen anyone go on the rock wall. Mostly best for families as they have something there for all ages and parents can work out while their kids are at practice. Wished they had more intense yoga classes though.
Great pool. There's a squat rack and room to deadlift.
This YMCA facility and others like it, to maintain the health of those who work there and of those who visit it, as well as the relatives and friends of workers and visitors, as well as anyone else who interacts with them, should close until the ongoing global health crisis has abated. I am disappointed that it continues to remain open.
It was great to get back to the gym. If your not feeling great hit the gym with great music you'll feel better
The front desk personnel is very polite and helpful, especially Foster. When we visited the first time, he made us feel like he had nothing better to do than to take us on a tour and answer all of our questions, and he was thrilled that he got to do it! We love the swimming program and Coach Alexis goes out of her way to help our swimmer with her strokes and our schedule. We always have a good experience at the New Tampa Y!
Amazing facility. Everything looks so nice and I love that they have a crossfit-type class.
The only that could make it any better is 24 hour staffing, other than that One thing it's Everything anyone (from beginner to extreme athlete) really needs!!
Love this place. Great management and employees. April's a great swim instructor and my kids learned a lot!
They have an incredible, sparkling clean pool. If you go during the day hardly anyone is there. The lifeguards are nice.
Never worked out here, only shot on the basketball rims. Loved those rims and their give, and the floor had the most amazing feel for some reason. Anyways, go here for basketball, and to USF campus (if you can) for a plethora of workout equipment.
Great place for family! My kids 9 and 2 takes swim lessons there, price is very reasonable, even better if you are a member at the Y, it s worth to be a member there.
a myriad of classes for fitness, barre and weight training are offered every day of the week and at several time frames The instructors are a pleasure
Great facility and staff! New manager Mike seems like a nice guy. Love the quality of the facility, the basketball court and huge pool.
The Y and in particular this YMCA are great places to work out. Great people and lots of free classes with membership.
Ok place. It could use more and newer equipments. Place needs to be cleaner and more air circulation. Kids zone is good. Staff is nice.
Excellent facility and excellent staff! I went to a few other gyms before coming to the Y and instantly fell in love. There s a certain culture that comes along with working out at the Y that is lacking in other gyms. It s a family enivronment and everyone is dressed appropriately. It doesn t feel like you re walking into a night club every time you want to work out. All of the facilities are top notch, well maintained, and up to date. The front desk is excellent, incredibly respectful, and very helpful special shout out to Jill! Highly recommend the New Tampa YMCA
The gym is smallish but there is everything you need. I use the gym for my small needs and my daughter goes to swim classes.
The staff here was awesome. The building was so clean. The atmosphere was great.
Very friendly staff...great classes. Clean. Many family oriented activities. Great community!
Front desk Staff was Rude & Racist when I try to sign up. So I decided not to sign up, the Director doesn t even care. They love to discriminating people. Very Racists!!! I thought the Y. Help people with family. I m so disappointed.
Neat ambiance, beautiful pool well heated for the winter months, nice family environment, fun yoga and other fitness classes!
The lack of common sense here is astounding. If there is no one else on the court, and you've only been out there for a half hour, do not tell me my hour is up. Even while asking of I could play another 20 minutes, or less and would leave if someone else showed up for the court ...nope. Two open courts sat there, unused, for the entirety of trying to work out this issue. It seems like a small thing...but come on. NO ONE was on the court. NO.ONE. Make a decision without passing the buck. Very poor training. Have belonged to the Y in two different states off and on for over 20 years. I did personal training there with groups. Then personal training one-on-one. Have done different classes. Worked out with all the weight machines. Good grief. This would not be the time to turn away customers. Not after I let you keep my money for the 2-3 months that you were shut down. Ridiculous.
The treatment of the staff that works is wonderful I recommend it
It gets really hot at peak times feels like there's no ac.
