The New Canaan Library is a great library. I like that they have many fun events, like author visits, people coming to play instruments, and more. One thing that I really really love is the Kids Summer Reading. It is a fun and motivating challenge. In the challenge, you have to read as much as books as you can. After you finish reading a book, you record that you read it. You get prizes along the way, and this challenge is a fun motivating way to get kids to read more. The staff here is nice, and they have so many books! I think the New Canaan Library is great!

A decent neighborhood library. Space for youth and children is getting better. In particular, it is the first time in the United States to have 15 books at the time of purchasing a new book.
Decent neighborhood library. Well-appointed space for teens and children. Especially when I bought a new book, it was the first time in the United States to have as many as 15 books of the same book.

Great library, but i've had some incidents the past. One of them was I was 3D printing, and a man came and unplugged the printer. Another was these kids kept pausing my creations while I was printing.

It has great potential, but patrons sometimes are incredibly noisy and staff doesn't seem to put any limit. If you need a quiet place to work or study you had better try another library: people sitting next to you might be answering phone calls, teenagers will chat and laugh loudly all the time. You will not find refuge in the "quiet study room" upstairs either, because it's not acoustically insulated and some of the readers might be listening to some terrible music track on their earphones.

I like this library based on a few visits here. The guys and girls are attractive. But I spend most of my free library time with my gal pal at the Westport and Wilton libraries that are somewhat more trendy.

New Canaan Library is a special place for enjoyable learning in town. In a convenient location downtown on Main Steet offering free parking for special events, people of all ages can enjoy the library year round. Most events are free of charge and this summer is no exception when the not for profit New Canaan Theatre begins production on professional performances that benefit children with special needs next door at Christine s Garden, one of the library s special places for everyone in town. Convenient location next to town with free parking and ease of access to New Canaan s restaurants and shops. From award winning Broadway shows to the New York Times Critics Pick for family shows are in production for the summer season. Bring your family June though July for an exciting and educational summer benefiting children and adults. Note: Enjoy the Library s free access to new technologies using math science and engineering providing ideas to acquire new skills in a convenient location.

I do not reccomend this library to anyone the staff is very rude and they seem a little corrupt trying to get money out of you for something that isn t even true I think they are just trying to make a quick buck to build their new library because they don t have the funds for it

The New Canaan library staff are very lovely. I have been there several times by now. Never have I ever experienced what other people are saying in other reviews. No one was but friendly and caring to me there. New Canaan library is an amazing place to be at! However, the constant noise is what I'm concerned the most. I tried taking a practice SAT test at the library, but I couldn't complete it. Kids and adults would carelessly talk either on the phone or with other people. Although I was supposed to be in a quiet area, I could hear every single noise around.
You must understand that the SAT is a timed exam, meaning that I really need to concentrate on what I'm reading, and on each question. If people are talking, or doing whatever that could be distracting, it's gonna be way much harder for me to perform well on this practice test -- let alone complete the questions in the time I'm supposed to. Yes, the library do offer a 90 minutes quiet room. However, I'm taking a 3 hours test. 90 minutes is not enough for me.
Something should be done about this. I can't stand noises when it comes to studying, reading, or taking a 3 hours practice test.
This is the only negative side about New Canaan Library; it is really disappointing because you expect the library to be a quiet place, not otherwise.
People won't stop talking, kids would run around, phones would be ringing! What's the point of quiet areas if people around are gonna be talking anyway? Not that I could politely ask them to be quiet either. If I stood for every person that talks at the library, first I would have to re-read whatever I was reading in order to properly respond the question I was on, and second I would have to squad a lot.
This place is amazing, but for the fact that everyone is loud.
