Stars. For professionalism minus 2 stars. Aside from that, the fees were quite a bit higher ($1150) and I was not informed as to what the fees were until 20hours before closing was set to occur.
Somehow it was my fault and the banks fault that I had a big hesitation on closing because of the unexpected fees directly related to the costs going to the title company. They told was my fault because I asked to scheduled closing 20 days from the date I wrote the agreement- I wouldn t have requested schedule if I knew they were incapable of smoothly closing within that time frame. Their response to my inquiries as to the higher fees as compared to my preferred west title was omg, just close with them . Except since I only knew costs (despite inquiring a week in advance) the day before closing and the timeframe on my purchase agreement may have waived my earnest money, opted to go ahead and close even tho I felt forced into the situation. it just didn t seem right to have to get a fair settlement cost I would risk losing on the house I planned
to purchase and also inconvenience the seller and bank who were all ready to close.
Network Title claimed it was the banks fault they didn t disclose fees because they took til the day before closing to get info to them. I feel it may have been a lack of following thru on title co perhaps but also I know that if the mortgage fees weren t the thing I had a hard time accepting. I wish they had just told me their fees sooner so I could have planned accordingly. If those things are unreasonable on my part, you can be the judge. They certainly thought it was me who was the problem. Im just happy to be done with the real estate stuff because it s not fun and network title did not make it anymore pleasant for me.
It really isn t the end of the world that I paid a little more to them than I would have elsewhere. But as a whole, it doesn t seem fair to unsuspecting consumer to handle with the approach that was presented to me in this scenario.
