I was taken to UNMC's emergency room and received nothing but kind, honest care. My two roommates were taken care of and brought to me quickly. There were billing issues with my insurance because I am from out of state and one phone call took care of everything. Start to finish great care!

Reported the case of discrimination to Dr. Linder and higher ups in the chain. Took no action against the person. Dr. Linder did nothing about the matter to save their own higher up in the chain employee. Furthermore, they did no investigation of discrimination case in order to save themselves.Minority are at risk as this hospital's top management is racist and corrupted. I have proofs of the discrimination and have exposed the racist top management that believe they are bigger than law on youtube. All positive reviews are posted by company to protect their false image. Again top management is corrupted including Linder and CFO. CFO wants to pay doctors and nurses nothing, promote discrimination among minority and when reported save himself and fill his own pockets with money.

This hospital is run by highly RACIST Leaders including the new CEO! Reported discrimination case with facts to the leaders. This hospital did nothing than to save their own name even when the fault was there. Discrimination and Racism are common in this hospital and senior leaders themselves preach it. If you are a patient, be safe. SENIOR LEADERSHIP INCLUDING NEW CEO of this hospital consists of HIGHLY RACIST STAFF THAT OPENLY DISCRIMINATES PEOPLE BASED ON YOUR NATIONAL ORIGIN! They believe they are above law and even at the time of making things right they chose to save their name first! Their mission statement of Patient comes first is joke. Their name comes first! This hospital is an absolute disgrace to the University attached to it which is full of diversity! SHAME ON YOU "THE RACIST NEBRASKA MEDICINE!"

The three times I have been at this hospital have been the worst experience of my life!!!
Nurses who are incompetent and violate safe practice.
The last time I had an appointment at Clarkson Tower, no parking, I need a handicap space, none, no place anywhere.
I couldn't breath, had to have a procedure done, the staff acted like it wasn't their problem, I was concerned they would tow my car. No one should be treated so rudely and the girl at the desk didn't want to be bothered.
I will find another doctor so I never have to go to clarkson tower or experience the hell at the hospital.
I have breast cancer and it spread to my lungs, I had fluid drained from my lungs after the parking fiasco.
I am now experiencing sharp pain, they sent me home after this procedure with no instructions about complications or when or who to call if I'm having a problem.
HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. I have never been in a hospital where the staff was so nice. ( and I've been in a lot of hospitals because of my husband's heart problems)The techs and nurses were amazing! Christine(4th floor neuro) was definitely my favorite nurse. She treated me as if I was her friend, not just a patient. She put up with a lot from me and no matter what, she never showed any indication that she was irritated in any way. Your staff is what made my 3 day stay tolerable. I'm honestly very impressed. If I ever have to have surgery again(and I pray that I NEVER have to do this again), I will definitely be coming to you guys. I just cannot say enough good things about you all.
The only complaint I have was the food. I've never been in a hospital with such bad food. Very limited selections and nothing I tried was good. (Except pre packaged stuff like the milk, juice, crackers etc.) I did more drinking than eating during my stay.
So grateful to all of the staff who took care of me and my doctor who is equally amazing.
I hope all of you from the 4th floor read this. You need to know that you are doing a phenomenal job and making a huge difference in the stay of the patients! Thank you to each and every one of you!

Yet again our experience with the UNMC Nebraska Me...

Yet again our experience with the UNMC Nebraska Medicine Emergency Room was a waste of time. My husband is a kidney transplant recipient and was instructed by the Transplant Team to go to the ER due to loss of consciousness. We arrived to the ER at 3pm and we were told a note was in his file from the Transplant Team that they were expecting him. The ED was extremely busy and we had to wait over 3 hours for an open bed. Once we were assigned a bed, his vitals were taken and we were informed that the Transplant Team would be coming in to speak with us. Turns out that the Transplant Team was not notified of our admission until 10pm. My husband did not get IV fluids until after 11pm.....5 hours after being admitted....after I became discouraged and complained. The only advice I can give you when going into this ED is get a game plan with the Dr. and Nurse, write it down, and continue to hold them accountable until something gets done! Don't wait for them to come to you because your time is not as valuable as their's. Delegating responsibility is not their strong suit!!! The ball is continuously being dropped and when questioned on the disconnect of communication the blame game is their go to answer! Very disappointed. Transplant Team needs their own ER!!!!

I would like to thank Dr. David L. Vogel, APRN John E., and the prep/operating room staff for providing outstanding care for me. I had endovenous ablation surgery on my right leg. They made me feel very comfortable throughout the whole situation. Everybody was kind and thoughtful. Thank you so much for all that you do to help people. I greatly appreciate all of you!!!

We visited a family member on a Saturday afternoon. The attention and care given by the nursing staff on the 9th floor was by far the best we have ever seen. The nurse changing our family member's dressings was courteous, informative and had a wonderful sense of humor.

Too busy to actually care for patients. Mis-diagnosis not uncommon. ER at Oak View TOTALLY misdiagnosed me and ran useless tests that I will be getting a big bill from any day now. Can't get appointments, even when you say on the phone while trying to make an appointment "something is wrong with my heart" they don't even say "what is wrong with your heart?" or "you need to get to the emergency room now", just "we can't see you for 6 days". What kind of clinic ignores a patient having an unknown heart problem like that, and does not even tell you to go to the ER? Problem was caused by UNMC clinic Doctor giving me pills that are CLEARLY MARKED AS ALLERGIC TO in my record, but I didn't know that until I looked them up after the ER visit.

This is a great place to give birth. They delivered my baby and had great staff to assist. I didn't care about a few doing training on me because they also had the real deal there besides we need more staff to work there to continue to make this a great hospital. Anyways the room was very nice and smooth not to depressing. When I got sad I took a bath in the jacoozi/ bath tub it relaxed me with the vibrating bubbles on the side. I didn't have a chance to die from any side effects of labor because the staff came in every 10 mins... The food wasnt enough for me because I like meat and I love to eat. They let me get fresh air outside and spent time with my family there. My body is healed my vagina don't hurt and it ain't bleeding my mind is at peace and I feel back to myself I've been taking all my meds and the baby is very healthy doing fine. I was treated with respect even tho I was African American thank you next time I get pregnant I'll come here love u guys.

My wife was admitted for medical treatment and associated tests for 5 days. The attention and treatment she was given probably deserve 6 stars I can only post 5. The facilities are second place to no one. The amount of care and capablities they possess are unbelievable. I can only hope that anyone needing them gets there. I was able to enjoy a few meals with Carol. The food and service also deserves the 6th star. It really cannot be a good thing having to be hospitalized, but they do have the ability to make it as good as it can be.

The UNMC/Nebraska medicine has really lowered its standards over the years. They were my hospital of choice until they conducted unrequested tests and then tried to bill us for it. It took my insurance getting involved to have them accept their error. To make matters worse, we were instructed not to pay any bill as the accounting dept. pays bills without specifics and would pay disputed items while they tried to correct the errors. Anyway to make a long story short, I received a collection notice today for a $20 bill. I have paid all my other bills and asked if I owed anything and been told no. They drop the ball and then send $20 collection bill after having received over $600 in payments. Talk about lack of common sense. Poor medical services and incompetence in their billing. I think there are several other hospitals I would rather get treated at going forward. Watch your bills! You may pay for their mistakes.

Information entered into my medical records by Susan L Wollenburg, PA was about half accurate. The other half was misleading at best and flat our wrong otherwise. I have no way to know if this was intentional or if his PA is just terrible at her job. 100% will not be seeking treatment here or recommending treatment here to anyone. What a joke.

Went there for a simple procedure.. and somehow ended up getting my eye scratched. So i ended up having to go to another doctor. Clarkson's facility is very crammed and claustrophobic rooms are basically little cubicles. If i had a choice i would probably choice another place, but in my position i go were they tell me to.

Dr. Vivak and Dr. Desa (surgeon's), Susan Wilson (pre-op nurse) Shelley (antitesologist) and Janice (dismissal nurse). Did an excellent job. Thank you so much for making my husband feel relaxed and comfortable. You all have no idea how great you've been. Wonderful surgeon's who truly cares, along with a great nursing staff. I can't thank you all enough for the care and attention you gave my husband the last few day. This has been a very scary time for him, but it could have been much worse, without your dedication and expertise. My family and I are truly grateful for the level of care/professionalism you all were able to administer. We're also grateful for the time you took to explain things. It was a great comfort knowing he was so well taken care of. Thanks again. You are truly doing God's work.

Sincerely,
Tonya & Nicholas Brown

From all I have heard and experienced, the management is ridiculous. They treat the employees with nothing but disrespect. I wouldn't take my worst enemy there for care. You never know when one of the employees will finally have enough. I would tell all the nurses to work elsewhere. Someone, at some point will get seriously injured or worse because of their poor staffing and terrible management. I wouldn't want to bet my license on it.

Had a wonderful experience during my 2 day surprise admission. Excellent care from everyone, as always, but one gentleman went above and beyond to help me when my phone died by purchasing a charger so I'd have access to my numbers and such. I don't know who it was, I was on 7th floor of the Clarkson tower, but whomever you are, THANK YOU! I didn't know if be admitted, so I didn't bring one, but I left the one you bought for anyone else in the same position to borrow from the floor. I highly recommend Nebraska Medicine for any issues a person could have.

Got a call on 12/13 and was asked to take part in a breathing steady. The person said that she had just missed me at my scheduled 8:30 am appointment. We made a new appointment for 9 am on the 12/21.

When I got there no one at the desk knew anything about the appointment nor the study. A supervisor came out and talked with me, she apparently at least knew about the study and who running it, but that was all.

I got a call from my wife on the way home, say that they had figured out what had happened and wanted me to return. I am not going to waste my time and money on a study that is so disorganized that they can't even meet with s subject in two attempts.

WORST customer service, I ve called and instantly been put on hold multiple times for about 5/10 minutes at a time. Eventually I just hang up and call back and it s the same situation all over again. I worked for Nebraska Medicine in the past and they taught us to NEVER just put someone on hold without asking if it s okay.

NOT GOING BACK AGAIN

NOT GOING BACK AGAIN
I had an appointment at 8AM to get something remove. Wait inside the room for 45 minutes before being seen by a resident. Prior to that I told the nurse the reason why I was there, she said that it may not be taking care of today. I explain her all the process I took before coming, after that she knew that I came in to get it remove.
After a long wait a resident and a Dr. came in. The Dr. told to the resident that she will need more than 20 minutes for me.
Guess what? She came back and said that she will not have enough time to get the job done and that I can come back when I have time again.
someone said that when people said they don't have time, They mean that they don't have priorities and apparently I was not one, even tho I was in pain.

This place is amazing. After going into heart fail...

This place is amazing. After going into heart failure during the 30 week point in my pregnancy, I had to have a crash C-section. They took my son and took excellent care of him, whole also making sure I was going to be okay. I had open heart surgery here and I couldn't have been more happy. I'm only 21, so I was terrified of being alone, and being surrounded by needles and tubes and wires constantly. The nursing team is absolutely amazing, along with the trauma team and surgical team. Dr. Cramer is my cardiologist and he's not afraid to say what's what. His nurse Lindsey is a sweetheart and is always super helpful, even when in a time crunch. Dr. Duncan was my cardiac surgeon and he's really nice and checked up on me multiple times after the surgery, as did Dr. Cramer. The nurse Lyon, who was in the cardiac unit is hands down the best nurse I had ever had there. He was always on top of every question I had. He came to see me after both surgeries as well.
This staff made my stay so much better, and after blowing IV after IV, they understood my severe fear of needles. The crying, the pain, and the hyperventilating. They ALWAYS comforted me when I needed a new line or IV placed. These people went above and beyond, and save my life, and my son's. I cannot thank these people enough.

Went to ED for severe migraine, treated well admitted for pain management. Not given anything that touched the pain. When asked for something stronger was treated like I was drug seeking!!! I choose to not do drugs yet I m treated as if I m an addict, given 25mg of topamax as if that s the answer.

Nurse left line exposed that could have infected my Port. Begged for almost a week for a bed that didn t make noise. Was told they all do that. Just lied to continuously over nothing. Over all horrible stay that claims extraordinary care!!!!! I will NOT be back to Nebraska Medicine

My mother was taken here for severe back pain. She waited in the emergency room for 8 hours, didn't get her blood sugars check (she's diabetic), didn't eat for 24 hours, had an RN that just yelled at her, she yelled for help and they closed the door on her, saying she was refusing to take something when she didn't refuse anything, and they are raising her pain and anxiety levels. Worst experience ever! DON'T GO HERE!!!! They very unprofessional!

Many of the good specialists have left this mess o...

Many of the good specialists have left this mess of a hospital and who can blame them? It is such an unorganized chaotic mess of a place, which is sad because years ago this was a fine hospital.
Nursing staff is chronically understaffed that nurses are stretched so thin they aren't able to properly care for patients.
If you go to the ER you will likely only see a mid level care provider like a nurse practitioner, and of course you will be stuck with numerous residents who don't want to be there and treat you like you are a gerbil. If you need to be admitted you can wait 18-24 hours just to get a bed and it will likely be in the burn unit regardless of what the ailment is.
If you have a loved one here as an inpatient DO NOT LEAVE THEIR SIDE REGARDLESS HOW MANY NIGHTS YOU HAVE TO SLEEP IN THE CHAIR NEXT TO THEIR BED! Be vigilant and pay close attention to all aspects of their care. This hospital frequently "loses patients" as well, usually when they go for x-rays or to CT/MRI.
If you have an issue that compromises patient care and need to speak with someone in Patient Relations-good luck with that as well. Avoid this "hospital" if at all possible, try to go to Methodist, the care is much better there.
