Yet again our experience with the UNMC Nebraska Me...

Yet again our experience with the UNMC Nebraska Medicine Emergency Room was a waste of time. My husband is a kidney transplant recipient and was instructed by the Transplant Team to go to the ER due to loss of consciousness. We arrived to the ER at 3pm and we were told a note was in his file from the Transplant Team that they were expecting him. The ED was extremely busy and we had to wait over 3 hours for an open bed. Once we were assigned a bed, his vitals were taken and we were informed that the Transplant Team would be coming in to speak with us. Turns out that the Transplant Team was not notified of our admission until 10pm. My husband did not get IV fluids until after 11pm.....5 hours after being admitted....after I became discouraged and complained. The only advice I can give you when going into this ED is get a game plan with the Dr. and Nurse, write it down, and continue to hold them accountable until something gets done! Don't wait for them to come to you because your time is not as valuable as their's. Delegating responsibility is not their strong suit!!! The ball is continuously being dropped and when questioned on the disconnect of communication the blame game is their go to answer! Very disappointed. Transplant Team needs their own ER!!!!
