Big trees. Hike beyond the asphalt and crowds to really enjoy the parks.
Everyone needs to visit this park. So much to do and see! Great experience for young ones to get out of the house and explore our beautiful backyard!
We loved the place. the ranger who informed us fatally, luckily we dined with information sought but we do not see either general sherman or anything!
The wear was beautiful and not a lot of people before Labor day
The greatest place to visit to see nature and it's beauty
Majestic sequoia trees, excellent vistas, and great recreation areas. Drive is challenging during road construction. Crystal cave ticket system is disorganized.
The Best. Just Amazingly Spectacular. The Rangers are always helpful and so kind.
We enjoyed seeing General Sherman Tree. Last time I was here was 20 years ago. Love the new trail that brings you down to the trees. It is a bit steep but there are plenty of spots to take a break on benches along the trail. People weren't very respectful of the trails and trees. Leave no trace!
My daughter learned how to enjoy the great outdoors and never judge a tree by its size.
Beautiful parks. Definitely worth spending a few days here. Get the year pass to save money if you are staying outside the park or are visiting multiple other parks
Lot to see and do. If you love Nature and Hiking. Best place.
I have been in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks in both Winter and Summer. A lot less people are in the parks in the wintertime. Kings Canyon is a sight that many miss out seeing and do take the time to vist and you will not be disappointed. I always when possible take the hike to the top of Moro Rock. The view is fantastic. The Sequoia Trees are fantastic. Crystal and Boyden Caves are nice to visit especially during the hot Summer months. The only part of the Parks I have not visited is Mineral King which I plan to do in the near future.
Gorgeous parks. General Sherman, the biggest tree, by mass, in the world, is truly an impressive sight. One of its branches fell off and it was bigger than most trees. Snow in these mountains can shut these places down though, so watch the weather. There are lots of Sequoia's to see in both of the parks with nice hikes for viewing.
Area was amazing. There was a lot of road work going on so I recommend not going into the forest this way. We waited a total of one hour and a half. Other then that really neat experience seeing all the forest had to offer. Look forward to another trip here.
Amazing places. Avoid the crowds and take some of the lesser traveled trails. There's an NPS app for sequoia and kings canyon, useful as there's very limited reception in the park.
King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
I'm back 20 years later. Same beautiful old magnificent giants and peaceful lakes . We saw a bear crossing the street right in front of us that was quite a fun surprise.
The Giant Forest
At the heart of the park, in the shade of towering sequoias and redwood groves, the Giant Forest is home to half of the Earth s largest and longest-living trees. Named in 1875 by John Muir, the forest is a stand of more than 8,000 colossal sequoia trees many standing just as Muir found them.
The Largest Tree on Earth
The undisputed King of the Forest, the General Sherman Tree is not only the largest living tree in the world, but the largest living organism, by volume, on the planet. A giant sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum), General Sherman is:
~ 2,100 years old
~ 2.7 million pounds
~ 275 feet tall
~ 100 feet wide at its trunk
Beautiful Park, you can see giant sequoia very impressive. Attention access via Visalia is difficult, it is the tiring mountain road. Especially take a picnic with you because there are very few restaurants. Mistrust
Wish we could have been there longer . So beautiful and tranquil. Amazing hights these tree have. All park rangers were amazing and very friendly.
You gotta love nature, amazing views, be prepared to drive many turns, but well worth it, I recommend you to buy pass online to save you time.
Loved it had a wonderful time hiking with the family!
One of my favorite places to go! Not as packed with crowds like Yosemite!
The path to the Sequoias is a relatively narrow pass road. You drive through extensive forests for a long time, without any special features. And suddenly they are there. It is impressive to stand under such a giant that rises more than 100 meters above your heads. The Visitor Center gives a lot of information about these giant trees, but is somewhat carelessly designed. And after a few miles it will be over again.
All in all: yes, you should have seen them, but on the other hand, don't expect too much. Pure nature.
Great place to take kids if they can stand the long, winding road.
Without words ... you must have been there to explore and feel this place ...
Beautiful vistas, clearly marked trails, amazing sequoias, and we saw two bears!
Go early and you'll enjoy the beautiful forest even more.
This was Nov 22, 2019. Wonderful day with clear blue sky. Love it!
Wow this place is actually epic clean and many fun trails although there are lots of people here and kinda hard to park, this place has 100% worth going to
Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks cover an area of mountains with majestic granite peaks, deep gorges, lakes, rivers, and forests, but they are quite different from each other. If you are planning on visiting both parks, you will need at least a couple of days.
