We enjoyed seeing General Sherman Tree. Last time I was here was 20 years ago. Love the new trail that brings you down to the trees. It is a bit steep but there are plenty of spots to take a break on benches along the trail. People weren't very respectful of the trails and trees. Leave no trace!

I have been in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks in both Winter and Summer. A lot less people are in the parks in the wintertime. Kings Canyon is a sight that many miss out seeing and do take the time to vist and you will not be disappointed. I always when possible take the hike to the top of Moro Rock. The view is fantastic. The Sequoia Trees are fantastic. Crystal and Boyden Caves are nice to visit especially during the hot Summer months. The only part of the Parks I have not visited is Mineral King which I plan to do in the near future.

Gorgeous parks. General Sherman, the biggest tree, by mass, in the world, is truly an impressive sight. One of its branches fell off and it was bigger than most trees. Snow in these mountains can shut these places down though, so watch the weather. There are lots of Sequoia's to see in both of the parks with nice hikes for viewing.

Area was amazing. There was a lot of road work going on so I recommend not going into the forest this way. We waited a total of one hour and a half. Other then that really neat experience seeing all the forest had to offer. Look forward to another trip here.

King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.

King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.

I'm back 20 years later. Same beautiful old magnificent giants and peaceful lakes . We saw a bear crossing the street right in front of us that was quite a fun surprise.

The Giant Forest
At the heart of the park, in the shade of towering sequoias and redwood groves, the Giant Forest is home to half of the Earth s largest and longest-living trees. Named in 1875 by John Muir, the forest is a stand of more than 8,000 colossal sequoia trees many standing just as Muir found them.

The Largest Tree on Earth
The undisputed King of the Forest, the General Sherman Tree is not only the largest living tree in the world, but the largest living organism, by volume, on the planet. A giant sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum), General Sherman is:
~ 2,100 years old
~ 2.7 million pounds
~ 275 feet tall
~ 100 feet wide at its trunk

Beautiful Park, you can see giant sequoia very impressive. Attention access via Visalia is difficult, it is the tiring mountain road. Especially take a picnic with you because there are very few restaurants. Mistrust

The path to the Sequoias is a relatively narrow pass road. You drive through extensive forests for a long time, without any special features. And suddenly they are there. It is impressive to stand under such a giant that rises more than 100 meters above your heads. The Visitor Center gives a lot of information about these giant trees, but is somewhat carelessly designed. And after a few miles it will be over again.
All in all: yes, you should have seen them, but on the other hand, don't expect too much. Pure nature.

Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks cover an area of mountains with majestic granite peaks, deep gorges, lakes, rivers, and forests, but they are quite different from each other. If you are planning on visiting both parks, you will need at least a couple of days.
