A gem to behold .Well worth a visit. While you are there try the bird of prey centre it's amazing
Beautiful and easy to walk with wheelchair accessible entries. Shops within from foods to merchandise
Fantastic day out, the bird of prey centre is exceptional as are the staff that run it. Amazing array of international plants and trees in the glass house and the butterfly house has some beautiful creatures, top marks
Nice day out, several areas to explore and enjoy. Excellent view from the top. Mother's day included several stalls and live music to enjoy in the glass house.
I have been to the national botanical gardens of Wales many times. Usually not to see the flora and fauna but to attends the antiques fare which is held there every couple of months.
The gardens though are beautiful in spring and summer. If you have difficulty walking little golf buggies pick you up and drop you off at the large glass dome which Is beautiful and full of exotic plants.
It's well worth a visit
Fantastic place to visit with children plenty to see and do.Well worth a visit to see the birds of prey they are fantastic.
Took the grandchildren today and had a very enjoyable time. The weather was fine, gardens very colourful and well kept, as you would expect. We went to 2 birds of prey shows which we all enjoyed. There were activities for the kids (being the school summer holidays) neither of ours took part - one too old, the other too young.
The only disappointment was the food outlet, I would recommend taking a packed lunch! The coffee was good as were the cakes, forget everything else.
The biome is impressive and very informative. I would highly recommend a visit, it appeals to all age gruops.
First visit here, a couple of weeks ago , even though I only live a few miles away. My husband and I had a lovely couple of hours here, a beautiful place to visit and would go again, however, on returning home as I didn't require my receipt More
Diverse range of features, fabulous glasshouse/dome, plenty to do and see whatever the weather
Always a pleasure to visit the Botanic Gardens at any season of the year. So many beautiful plants to see in all areas of the grounds. Safe paths and access to all in most areas, for both young and older folks.
I have been a member for two years now and recommend a visit during any season of the year.
A visit to the garden is always a brilliant way to spend a few hours at any time of the year
2018 An Englishman in Camarthen, how nice to feel like a foreign visitor. The location is super rural and is astounding in its appearance. It s one of the few times you can congratulate bureaucrats for being bold enough to commission such a beautifully remarkable building that is the domed, single span greenhouse.
Anyway just enjoy a day looking at all the outside flower and plant beds, checkout the Butterflies being prepared for metamorphosing and if you have the time the Raptor displays, but don t miss a breeeze round the stupendous Greenhouse where you might encounter the Camarthen Spinners enjoying a friendly yarn.
Disappointing today, a lot of the beds were empty and didn't look as if anything had been planted in them. Also, some 'fixing up' jobs which should probably been done when quieter, maybe winter were still being done. Re-boarding plank walkway in greenhouse, so our son who is in a wheelchair couldn't get near to see fish. Not as good as usual.
Amazing centre. Stunning variety of gardens, the main greenhouse is spectacular. Plenty of events on during the year. A good little cafeteria on offer. We had a nice Xmas dinner back in Dec. A good play ground and lots to keep both kids and adults interested in terms of features and things to do/see. Weddings at the gardens are always good too. Easy to get too and park. Vast majority of the site is wheelchair accessible and staff ferry people with mobility issues from the main entrance to the greenhouse on golf buggy things on request.
Went many years ago, enjoyed it, should go for another visit soon
Well worth a visit
It, my 11 year old loved it
What a beautiful place to be?! There are so many amazing plants to see, that you can spend hours and hours on end yet haven't seen them all?!
+a bonus is that if you go by T1S on Saturday, the travel is free. Also we had family ticket to enter even though we were only three of us and then if you go back in week's time, the entry is free too?!
We were very excited to go back, initially to see the rest we didn't manage before but we ended up watching the historical play of the "King or Parliament?" on the Middleton Grounds. It was such an amazing experience for kids who only saw battle in their video game... We definitely will go back again soon!!! :)
A delightful day out for the family. Be prepared to return several times as there is far too much to do in a day - good job the entry covers you for seven days.
Wonderful garden. It's about 500 acres big. It reopened last week. Some indoor places are not allowed to go in because of safety reason but there are so much space to explore. They now have a new birds of prey site and shows in the garden. Worth a visit for the whole family !
Absolutely lovely day even in the rain, please pay the extra to go and see the birds Emma and Alec and the other volunteers are superb.
We saw Hector the Eagle owl, the 3 kites flying together, Midas the Eagle who didn't like the rain doing an excellent display. The 3 baby owls were so funny, the other birds were amazing and the guys are doing a fantastic job in keeping the species going.
Thank you for a fantastic day can't wait to come back to fly the birds.
Jenny and Carl
Lovely day out with family, sun was out, the flowers looked spectacular and it was a great relaxing stroll around some wonderful gardens. The dome wasn't too busy, so we had plenty of time to wonder around the various countries of plants. We stopped for coffee and a cake, both tasted great. The toilets were clean and tidy. The butterfly house was enjoyable as was the apothecary. Really enjoyed.
Very beautiful place. A lot of interesting thing to watch.
A great day out. Beautiful gardens with fantastic scenery.
Lovely, weather warm, slightly overcast but plants still looking good. Butterfly house amazing and the tropical glass house well worth the visit. Wish we knew that you could use tickets as many times as you like for a week when you look for site info, would have come at beginning and end of holiday.
Loads to see, loads to do. We just spent 5 hours there and the time flew. Got a very tired little girl now, and tired parents too!
We visited on a blustery day in June. The glass house was welcome with a nice coffee area as well as the summer flowers of the different Mediterranean regions. The grounds were well kept with interesting walks and good views. The signs by the plants were informative.
We plan to visit again to see the different seasons.
Very well organised. Pleasant, not pushy.
An absolutely beautiful day out. The Apothecary hall was an dream!
If you like plants and gardening this is the place for you. We have seen the garden develop over the past19 years and love revisiting here.
Butterfly House closed early, otherwise very good. Ghost trees especially worth seeing.
A peaceful and tranquil place you have all the time in the world to walk about and enjoy all there is to see
Watched an outdoor cinema film here and it was a wonderful setting for it
Very large park with lots of walks. Good facilities and some interesting plants.
The National Botanic Garden of Wales is a sizeable expanse of land dedicated to the growth and conservation of some of Wales' rarest plants as well as global species.
The site is dominated by the Great Glasshouse, the largest single span glasshouse in Europe. The mediterranean climate inside is split into six regions from around the world, including South Africa, Australia and California.
There is also a double walled garden and glasshouse home to many butterflies, apiary, apothecary and other rockeries and ornamental gardens. The site is slightly sloping but there is provision to take less mobile visitors around. The main walk from the entrance to the top of the hill features a fountain at the base and decorative stream down the hill. If you have young children, putting them in wellies may be a good idea.
The cafe and shop, whilst adequate are rather small and expensive. You might expect a little more from the National Botanic Garden of Wales.
Overall, a good day out and worth the visit.
Nice gardens, i felt like a teletubbie under the dome
This is a fascinating place to visit. The great glass house is a massive glass dome planted with various plants, shrubs and trees. The gardens are lovely to browse and there are quirky water features dotted around. There are places to eat or take a picnic. I strongly recommend a visit.
A mini Eden Project with added birds of prey and butterflies
Better to go July ,mid August,as most flowers going over.Revues said food good,I ordered off the board a Steak&Kidney Pie.On eating it was basically a Beef Stew with 4 small pieces of meat, carrots & peas as main filling ,even with searching no Kidney to be found.Disappointing as it promised much but gave little.
Wonderful floral meadows, dramatic glasshouse displays and effective interpretation across the site.
Well worth a visit the. grounds are ok for the disabled, mobility scooters ate available if you book in advance, the dome it great, the catering is first class .
Fantastic place. The day we visited it was a beautiful sunny day. Had a lovely picnic. The plants were beautiful And the Butterfly House was awesome.. Just magical.
Good value, lots to see, but probably of limited interest for children.
Amazing and informative. Beautiful gardens and exciting activities with birds of prey. And to top it off dinner was amazing!
Plenty to see and quite a walk through the woodland path as well. The cafe food was good. It's easy to spend a few hours there.
Beautiful Place. Definitely want to visit again. Brings back childhood memories!!! Cant wait to return with my family. Soon with my newer phone. Many thanks. Will return ********** had a lemon grass leaf, apologies but it Was tasty. Loved the butterfly garden!!!!!!beautiful animals just like the BumbleBee. Love the smells. I would happily volunteer if need be at some point. Please contact if need to. Thanks. Daniel Lee DESTINY
Such a gem of a place, really don't know why I didn't visit sooner. Will be coming back again and again and again. Keep up the good work you guys do
Really enjoyed the bird display and enjoyed the talk about them
Our second trip here in the last year, still lots to look at in the gardens and butterfly house, great Bird Of Prey collection and flying demos in the rain. Ticket lasts a whole week so back again to explore later on in the week.
Very pleasant place to spend half a day. Highlight for me was the birds of prey - I saw a kestrel, an eagle and an owl flying. Also the tree trunks from Ghana are weirdly interesting. Small butterfly house too. Cafe was good although quite expensive.
Great place to have a wander round. So many different parts to the gardens. The flowers were in full bloom and we even got to take the dog. Dog day is on a Monday! I had a really nice day here.
Lovely day out, beautiful spot. Stop to have a bite to eat in the cafe area after taking in all the beauty this site has to offer. Have the kids burn off the lovely cakes in the park play area whilst you sip afternoon tea. Can definitely spend all day here if take it slow as it should be done. Definitely a place to visit with the whole family. Easy walkable with well maintained pathways and access for wheelchairs too. Highly recommended.
beautiful to walk around and on Mondays dogs are aloud on leads....birds of prey great to see and butterflies and the bees..food in restaurant gorgeous
Visited the gardens today and it was a rather wet overcast day so was not looking at its best. There is a large selection of plants and different areas to visit. The butterfly house is a new attraction this year but very few visible today which was disappointing. Quite a few cocoons promising new arrivals. The cafe was overwhelmed with people so just grabbed a packaged sandwich and coffee both perfectly acceptable. Will return at a better time of year as I am sure today was just not the right time.
A return visit in June showed off the gardens at their best. Early arrival meant wandering around in peace. The weather was beautiful and the butterfly house was in full swing or should I say flight!
They have now added a permanent raptor house if that is of interest.
Lovely setting , maybe a plan of garden with a description would be beneficial to visitors
A beautiful location with well laid out themed garden areas
The glasshouse and the butterfly house are excellent.
Now with the addition of the national bird of prey centre with daily flying displays
Beautiful place and day out with kids. Impressed with the array of colourful plants. Delicious range of sandwiches and helpful staff.
The kids had such a great time here we ended up going back on the free 7 day return pass. Great day out
Went in the winter so it wasn't a good reflection on the actual gardens as most outdoor plant life was inactive. Had large grounds and the greenhouse was amazing. There's so much to explore!
It was a great day out we went on a day trip with the local family centre my 4yr old was very interested in everything that was there
Botanic gardens always worth a visit any time of year. Birds of prey display is excellent.
I went when there were talks about Science at the Garden. Totally amazed that this place is sending scientists abroad to advise on bar coding DNA, and gobsmacked about the research that is happening about pollinators! Apparently, little is known about the roles of hoverflies and wasps in pollinating. Also, some really scenic views, especially if you leave the main areas and go exploring the woodlands. Very knowledgeable chap ( a volunteer) in their Victorian Apothecary. Shop, but he is not on site every day, mores the pity.
Lovely place, couldn't recommend highly enough, a few nice things indoors for a rainy day, the massive indoor dome with lots of planting, birds, streams, waterfalls and bridges, the butterfly House (Best on a sunny day for max butterfly sighting) and outdoors are lovey gardens with little streams and water features for splashing in, keeping the kids entertained as we walked around (wellies a must), bird of prey house a nice extra too, especially when they are doing demonstrations. There was a baby owl when we went that (bizarrely) kids were reading to, he was so cute! Cafes good, plenty of loos and changing areas, nice flat paths for pushchairs. Lovely day out
I'm very disappointed. They advertise as dog friendly when in reality they are not and should not advertise as being so. If you take your dog you cant do very much. In reality, I should have left the dog at home and maybe would have had a More
All good.....lovely place to chill out.....refreshments always available.....
Captive birds seemed understandably unhappy, but a very good plant exhibit nonetheless
Amazing place if you like flora etc. The price to go in is good too since the purchased ticket is valid for 7 days so you can go every day for a week. The different areas of the gardens make it interesting. Well worth going to the Birds of Prey centre too. There are two flying displays a day too.
