I purchased the $999 guided study from the National Academy of Sport Medicine. I did very well during the eteach online guided study portion and scored well on the practice exam, quizzes etc. I believe it was properly instructed, easy to follow and I recommend that option for optimal success with your certification. At first, I rated NASM 1 star... And this decision or feeling was placed around a few particular people in the student success department. Without getting into full detail, I was very disappointed with a long drawn out situation that was not professional handled. With all negative feelings aside, I decided to not place NASM as a whole into this poor category because I strongly believe that NASM in itself is a very proffesional, strong group of empowered individuals. I am honored to be tied professional to the NASM certification name and choose not to place them in such a narrow minded category. There is always room for emprovment. The student success should be top priority here and I believe that was not the case in my situation. Besides that, I am appreciative of my opportunity with NASM and I would recommend individuals looking to pursue a Certification in personal training to strongly consider them!

WOW Very disappointed. BEWARE! As others would say. I would highly suggest looking into other programs if you are starting out. Spend the least amount as you can at first to get your CPT. Just because you pay premium for a company name like NASM does not mean you get good training. I went through NASM years ago when onlilne training was not an option and the training was great. For years I promoted NASM, but now I have to agree with all of the reviews that left negative reviews. I paid lots of money for the primo Guided Study package with a coach and everything. My coach sucked and really only wrote messages to the "Group" is was to be studying with. When I had compatibility issues because I was using a MAC the response was that it's working for her and suggested I get a Windows computer. Really let move forward with Technology not backwards. In general the Coach did nothing to help you along in the program. One response I got from NASM is that you have to reach out to the coach, they don't reach out to you. SCAM that's not how coaching works. If the student does not know the questions to ask, why would they ask? I too got a text book with lots of grammatical errors, lots of inconsistencies, and missing information. I'm terrible at grammar, so for me to notice that's bad. They have no easy way for someone to study when traveling on the road a lot. No ebooks, no audible narrations, nothing that you would expect for online training. Can't read and drive. The videos that come with the program are worthless for any instructional purpose or education.

Quoted from another reviewer "PLEASE PLEASE don't waste your hard earned dollars. Go elsewhere and receive the customer service and quality learning that you deserve. NASM is a total RIPOFF. Trust me!" But it couldn't be more true! I REGRET GIVING THEM MY MONEY. TURNS OUT TO BE JUST A VERY EXPENSIVE BOOK WITH ERROR AFTER ERROR

I purchased their CPT program #6 for $600 in June 2020 during the middle of the pandemic with my unemployment money, in hopes that the mentality "you have to spend money to make money" would propel me in my dire need of employment. I should have never spent that money nor had faith in this company!!!! Worst decision ever! Due to ongoing unemployment for over a year, losing everything and having to move in order to even find work, I was unable to schedule to take the exam. Waited on the phone for an hour, spoke to three different people who only offered me the 7th edition program for $400 (at their discounted rate), As I continued to tell every person and even the manager that I was transferred to that I didn't have the money to buy a whole new program. All I wanted to do was take my test that I paid for. They all gave me the same answer.... that it wasn't available and that I would have to purchase a new version that would be good for 5 years. So why wasn't the #6 version good for that amount of time???? If this company cannot offer me the test to take in order for me to obtain my certification, then they should refund me my money because they stole it from me!! I will continue to speak up about this company and their thievery! NO help what so ever with refunds due to extenuated financial challenges due to COVID nor an alternate option for taking the test! So extremely disappointed in this company, larger corporations offered more help and leniency then this company did. By far the worst company I have ever had faith in due to its large presence in the fitness industry.

Do not use this company! They are for profit, and only care about the money. I mistakenly signed up with them thinking they were ACSM, and when I realized my mistake, after paying in full, I told the rep I wanted a refund because I thought he said he was with ACSM, not NASM. He told me I would get a refund. One week later I get an email stating I have to call to authorize my refund. So I call on my 30 minute break on a 12 hour shift, and am told they will keep 10% of my money, despite the fact that I told the rep immediately after receiving email confirmation and realizing my mistake, that I wanted a refund, which was two minutes after paying. Nothing had been processed yet that they needed to charge me for. All these guys care about is the money. Go with ACSM. ACSM is not for profit and is science based. These guys are for profit, and just want your money!

In early January I submitted my companies 2020 continuing education provider application, and it is not till now that it is finally getting resolved. After submitting the application in early January, I started to follow up just to make sure the application was received. It took three attempts just to get a response from anyone at NASM, and the response was that they did not receive the application and that I could fill out a renewal application, which is smaller document that doesn t require any attachments. After submitting the renewal application, the business is required to wait till NASM responds and is ready to process the payment. This process usually takes a week if not more..

On February 28th I called in to get my payment processed and spoke with a representative where I detailed how frustrating it was that after 4 emails, I finally heard back from NASM, and all I wanted was a confirmation to ensure the application was received. There's also the fact that I was sent the full provider application in late 2019 and not the renewal application... As I told the representative, in previous years and when I worked for other education companies I would call/email the person in charge of the continuing education provider program and it was completed with ease. I asked representative if he could request a discount because of this inconvenience and he mentioned that he went over to the provider team to ask. After holding for a period of time, the representative returned and mentioned that a discount had been approved but the amount was unknown. He mentioned he would contact me once the discount was updated and apologized for the issue. A couple weeks had passed, and I had already followed up with the NASM representative 2 times to see if the discount had been applied. Since I didn't get a response, I decided to call in again.

Upon calling in I spoke with a new representative that after doing a little digging found that the first representative never contacted the continuing education providership team. As I told 2nd representative, my organization is getting emails from students wondering about the providership. Having done this process and been the contact point for other companies, I can say that this is a process that can be accomplished with communication and often done within a couple days. For a company to market themselves as the best and to have these types of faults is frustrating for the growth of the fitness industry.
