Interesting overview of work going on at Goddard Space Flight Center. Movies, exhibits, outdoor rocket, and gift shop. 1-2 hours covers it all. Some artifacts to see. Worthwhile especially if you have any interest in space. Free admission.

These people should be ashamed! I voted along with HUNDREDS of others for 3 little girls of color and their project and the votes were ALL erased! I really cannot believe that this is acceptable. Zero Stars, a disgrace!!!

Visited during the Explore@NASAGoddard event so about a dozen buildings were open to the public for events, activities, and tours by Goddard employees. I was able to see control centers for multiple missions as well as the vehicle assembly area for the James Webb Space Telescope.

22,000 people attended and the shuttles were pretty overwhelmed during opening and closing times creating over an hour wait to get from the off-site parking lots. Lines for all of the food trucks were about 30-40 minutes. Even with those issues I would attend this event again.

Such a wonderful place to visit. As a family trip this is amazing. To see how the space crafts and rockets are all essential to space travel and exploration. This stop was right before the Smithsonian which was the creme de la creme for our family weekend.

This is the space flight center, dont understand all the fuzz of such a wonderful place to visit, unless you have a hookup or know an employee it is NOT open to the public.

Many tourists/visitors confuse the Goddard Space Flight Center w the Goddard Visitor Center, two different things.

The Space Flight access only by badge, tour and need to know someone who works there.

The visitor center is a crappy little building w a few outdated, obsolete exhibitions. The gift shop is SUPER expensive. The rockets need to be painted, inside is very depressive.

Staff is very friendly, Julia knows very well about the stars, solar system, different NASA programs, great person to bring to a science classroom.

The building, visitor center, needs a renovation. Dont confuse Space Flight w VC.

Once of the most hallowed regions for one of the most iconic and enduring feats mankind has ever done. Anyone who is a space related nerd or an engineer of any kind plus obliviously anyone who is interested should visit here once things open again eventually. It's a wonderful place that holds museum like exhibition stands of adventures mankind has done to reach to space as well as some stuff from space. Highly recommended!

It was an interesting place to see, but I expected it to be larger. They did have more space related teaching information than the Smithsonian. It's more of a child friendly environment than I had originally expected.

Additional note: They didn't even mention Curiosity in their Mars display...

We were there today, 15 Aug. This is an embarrassment, a phenomenal disgrace. As you walk outside to your left you notice parts of one display coming off. There's grass coming out between the concrete slabs for the walking area, something that's easily controlled and otherwise contributes to the weakening of the walkway. The Apollo capsule to your left has nothing I could find which identifies what it is, but were it real or a mock up you can't help but notice the moisture built up on the interior of one of the windows to the capsule - the only way to ever get inside that thing is to gas free it first or air it out for God knows how long, and the mildew and mold that must be there would be something to behold I'm sure. The interactive screen display that had benches in front of it provided all kinds of information, a lot of it not obvious and therefore likely to be lost on a casual visitor. The display on where elements comes from didn't get into the trans-ferric elements and how they're formed - what's the point if you're not going to address everything up to uranium, the last naturally created element?

If you're going to do a half-assed job, and I'm not sure this even qualifies for that, of having something like this at a national institution of excellence, or what WAS once a national institute of excellence, you don't present it to the public as this is. Close the thing down, it's a waste of taxpayer dollars to keep it as it is and if you're not going to invest in turning it into something that's far better cared for and user-friendly you send the exact opposite message to the general public and visitors from another country who come to this place. You will see FAR better displays of rocketry at either of the two Air & Space museums, and you won't walk away feeling embarrassed for the place after you've been there.
