Visited Massachusetts for the FIFA WorldCup USA94 match, Spain -v- Italy held at Foxborough Stadium, Boston and in between time we did a detour to meet-up with some friends that lived in Northampton, Ma. We were aware that the Basketball Hall of Fame was not too far away from Northampton and, as one of our number was a big David Robinson fan, we opted to trip over there too. We had a great day and enjoyed the experience enormously with lots to do and see.
Hadn't appreciated that in the meanwhile the Basketball Hall of Fame had upped-sticks in 2002 and moved itself 100 yards south into a $47 million facility and it looks even more splendid now.

The cost of entry was reasonable as well as military discounts are available. This brought back many childhood memories. I learned a lot about the athletes, past and present day. There is alot of history for any basketball lover!

It s pretty crazy to think the basketball hall of fame is in Springfield. That being said, the exhibits are pretty terrible outside of the main ring that houses all the inductees and their stories. Definitely learned a lot about the origins of the game too.
Aside from that there are way too many broken displays.
Hopefully I ll update this soon with better results as they re making some changes currently!

I visited this place in August of'18: This landmark has very informative details ranging from the players, through the coaches and of the game itself. The displays inside the museum portion of it are worth the observation; the gift shop and some eateries within the site are also convenient. This place, as all other notable landmarks, has the amenities suitable for all ages.
P.S. My apologies for double photo posting; that function from my device had issues.

I ll start off by saying I m comparing this hall of fame to national baseball hall of fame because I went to the baseball hall of fame the day before I came here.
We came on a good day because there was a former NBA player there signing autographs on the court which was a nice thing that they had.
There s only two floors of basketball memorabilia. For the price of $24/ticket I didn t feel as if I got my moneies worth. If the ticket price was $12-$14, I would give this place a better review especially because the hall of fame costs $23 and is a much larger facility.
Overall it s a good day trip with the kids just hoped they had more to offer! You can see everything in the museum in about an hour and a half and then shoot around on the courts afterwards.
About Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame
The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame is a prestigious museum located in Springfield, Massachusetts. It is dedicated to preserving the history of basketball and honoring the game's greatest players, coaches, referees, and contributors. The museum was established in 1968 to honor Dr. James Naismith, who invented basketball in 1891.
The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame has more than three hundred inductees who have made significant contributions to the game of basketball. These include players like Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal and many others who have left an indelible mark on the sport.
In addition to honoring these legends of the game through exhibits and memorabilia displays that showcase their achievements on court or off-court contributions such as coaching or refereeing careers; visitors can also participate in interactive exhibits that allow them to experience what it's like being a professional player.
One such exhibit is "Hoop Heroes," which allows visitors to test their skills against some of the best players ever by shooting hoops on a regulation-sized court with virtual defenders projected onto screens around them. Another popular exhibit is "Center Court," where visitors can watch live clinics conducted by current NBA stars or former greats sharing their knowledge about different aspects of playing basketball.
The museum also features several other interactive exhibits that cater to all ages and skill levels. For example: "Slam Dunk Challenge" lets you test your jumping ability while trying to dunk a ball; "Fast Break" challenges you with dribbling drills; "Three-Point Shootout" tests your accuracy from beyond the arc; and many more!
Apart from these interactive exhibits showcasing skills challenges for visitors at all levels - there are also plenty of opportunities for fans young & old alike looking for something unique when visiting this iconic venue! The Hall hosts special events throughout each year including autograph signings with current NBA stars or retired legends as well as hosting charity games featuring local high school teams competing against one another under bright lights inside its hallowed walls.
Visitors can also explore various galleries within this massive 40k square foot facility filled with artifacts dating back over 100 years ago when Dr.James Naismith first invented this beloved sport we know today as basketball! From vintage jerseys worn by legendary players like Wilt Chamberlain & Bill Russell - To rare photographs capturing historic moments during championship games played decades ago - There's something here for everyone interested in learning more about how this sport has evolved over time into what we see today!
In conclusion: The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall Of Fame offers an unparalleled experience for anyone interested in learning about one of America's most beloved sports – Basketball! With its vast collection spanning over a century worth’s history combined with state-of-the-art technology allowing guests hands-on access through interactive exhibits showcasing skills challenges at every level imaginable – This venue truly stands out among other museums worldwide dedicated solely towards celebrating athletic achievement & cultural significance associated with sportsmanship itself!
