Well organized museum! It is clean, calm and there are lotta exhibits to see. Unfortunately, the Alter is now not fully exposed. That is a shame. There are lot of Christianity-related arts, but there is also a modern art exposition. Everything is well-lit and mantained. Also the toilets are in a great condition. I recommend the place! It is worth the visit!

Nice museum with beautiful paintings and artifacts...

Nice museum with beautiful paintings and artifacts from the 13th to the 15th century. The style of that era seems to be bright and colorful paintings. Beautiful and and stone work.
This museum used to be a convent in the 13th century but now houses these amazing bits of history, which explains the lovely style of architecture. Apparently this museum is the most visited museum in Alsace with over 200,00 thousand visitors a year.

Museum was ok ,a bit chaotic because the direction or flow was not clear and you are not allowed to go back even with the museum being empty because of the covid. They have some nice paintings on display. Not many. Most pieces are regilious artifacts from the convent it was before it became a museum.

It is interesting for religious and cultural documentation of the cloister and the region, at a bit more interactivity would be nice for the children. The information is provided in three languages, French, German, and English. The bluish and whitish arrows should guide you through the full exhibition. But at the end it left the feeling we missed something as between the floors it was a little confusing.

An informative and well-organized collection of paintings, sculptures, and artifacts in a beautiful historic building. It includes mainly medieval, modern, contemporary arts.

They offer an audio guide in many languages including French, German, English, Korean, etc. The audio guide covers a lot of information of many items. I highly recommend borrowing the audio guide. It's 2 euros.

Interestingly, the connected building named "Piscine" used to be a public bath. You can also figure out the history of this museum building.

The Issenheim altarpiece on its own is a reason to visit the museum. Its location and courtyard are also valuable aspects. The rest of the collection seems a bit arbitrary, though I can recommend the art from the middle ages and the large closets in the design department upstairs. The modern art seems like an afterthought and I wouldn't bother with it if you're as impressed by the older arts as I am.
