A very beautiful museum a very good idea we travel through the African world
Superb place! From the gardens the change of scenery is total.
The employees are very available and mini tours are offered free of charge.
As for the collections, they are very rich and very well presented.
To watch again and again.
Permanent and temporary exhibitions to see and review again and again. Invitation to exoticism, to travel through time and space, to the roots of our civilizations, to learn better from us through other cultures.
Always impressed by the modernity and current events of the primary arts.
Such an impressive place with a very interesting collection, right around the corner from the Eiffel Tower!!!
huge museum! eat before you visit! cool objects from old tribes etc! oceanic, afrique, asia, america etc
Very beautiful setting for this museum of arts and civilizations
Very interesting place with collections from different parts of the world. It interesting to see the skills that were possessed by indigenous people.
A rich collection from all around the world. You are likely to find something that you find interesting, there is something for everyone. One usually spends there from 1 to 2,5 hours. It's a good get away from a hot sunny day.
A beautiful discovery on civilizations and at the same time a tribute to our regretted President who made us share his love of peoples a humanism that should be a golden rule in everyday life
.
A great experience for anyone who wants some answers.
Nice to visit to better understand the cultures around us
A museum, rather a place of human heritage, whose banal name does not reflect the richness of the collections on display. It is the whole history of early civilizations that we find here, with emotion. Beyond the beauty of the place (the gardens are also sublime), this museum allows you to discover the roots of human history.
Some amazing stolen art and artefacts from around the world. If you make it to the Eiffel Tower then you should take the five minute walk to Quai Branly Museum to see how the West was built on the backs and treasures of the 'developing world'.
Wonderful, a journey into the heart of the world, beyond the West, where the human being unites religion, image and life. This is the navel of the world.
Well-designed and layout museum. With innovative ideas but be minded that there could be quite a bit of walking in certain stages.
If you only have time for one museum in Paris, this is the one to go to. Especially if you're not a huge art buff and don't want to be bored out of your mind. I purchased my ticket online and considered getting the audio guide, until I got there and decided to just bite the bullet. It was an amazing call as there aren't many descriptions, especially for those who don't speak French. I only had about an hour and half to explore and that wasn't nearly enough time to absorb all of the amazing world art they have to offer.
Not great for English speakers, not everything is translated, but beautiful exhibitions
Surprising for neophytes. Informative for amateurs.
A place that French pay tribute to all places! Do visit the cafe and the store
Works perfectly highlighted ... Just an access a little long ... Who could benefit from '' appetizers '' interactive museum content to distract visitors during their ascent to the museum.
A total hidden gem of multinational artworks. Seriously, i cannot stress how underplayed the quai branly museum. Its very accessible, in great neighborhood, the artwork are gorgeous, and best of all when i was there it wasnt packed. Also, when i went around 6 there wasnt any crows there. Seriously, my next trip to Paris this place is a must.
Very special atmosphere. Lots of works to admire. Temporary exhibitions often very interesting. I discover new aspects at each visit, I never tire of this museum.
Practical point: easy access by metro, free cloakroom
Only downside: too dark in some places
I highly recommend for adults, children, adolescents
A beautiful museum, an incredible interior design, must see. Exceptional collections We were not convinced before coming. We will be back without hesitation and with a lot of fun
Museum of the highest magnificence in view of the exposed works of art
Quite informative about different cultures across the world. Worth taking the time
If you go to the Eiffel Tower, please go here.
It's right next door. It is open until 9 o'clock at night.
Superb museum. Both the works exhibited and the building itself.
Plan 2 days of visit if you really want to see everything!
Very interesting, the works are divided by continents.
The 4 exhibitions interested us. Especially the one on the art of the African blacksmith.
The exteriors are beautiful even in winter. The lights at night are magnificent.
It's a bit like a museum of colonial France, but otherwise it's nice.
Very appealing museum, not too crowded even on a Saturday morning. Vast collection of interesting craftworks from all over the world. Take your time to see it all and focus on Oceania and Africa. Prices for a combined ticket for permanent and temporary collections make the visit worth and a good deal. Enjoy also the small park inside the museum walls and the architecture of the compound. Thank you President Chirac for your investment to create this institution.
A very special musee but really interesting in a unexpected environ. Beautiful. And forget not the art of primitif peoples african, asian and other. It"s really amazing. The big screen with first meetings between cultures is very very nice: disigned backgrounds with 'living' people try to make contact with originals. Take your time to see this.
A place full of spirit (s) where we find that the supposed "savages" can teach us a lot ...
Absolutely brilliant and exquisite. It's a master piece there.
Sublime, half a day is not too much to visit this remarkable museum of distant arts.
Interesting museum to learn from different parts of the world.
Rather interesting museum but not very well designed. It goes a bit in all directions and we quickly lose the thread. We still had a good time.
Very interesting museum except that the reduced heads were not on display!
Stunning impressive exhibit of the ingenuity and creativity. Helpful staff and a stunning facility!
Well thought out expositions, beautiful distribution, friendly staff and a great option for an afternoon museum as many are usually closed.
A museum specializing in non-European primitive art (though I don't like the term). The Asian part had a relatively catchy feeling, but the others were amazing and felt like a unique museum. Papua New Guinea / Oceania / Greenland, in particular, is rich in exhibits, showing the uniqueness of culture developed in an isolated (or extreme) environment, and how spontaneously and essentially how diverse human society can become. And send it out.
English text commentary is poor, so it is advisable to purchase a voice guide or commentary book at the shop.
I should have bought a commentary on the mask ...
A museum that reveals the habits and masterpieces of several continents. We chose one and even one afternoon did not go around. Works are sublimated by lighting and imersion is successful in some cases.
I highly recommend this museum !!
Very nice museum worth seeing.
At nightfall the garden is superb.
Incredibly rich collection -- fruits of centuries of imperialism. Intelligently displayed and labelled. Architecturally exciting and surrounded by wonderful Gardens.
The last year's of French colonialism... nothing about the real lives of women or of anybody other than men but that's how they thought at the time...pre-impressionism... pre modern art...what they show they show well but they only show what French men thought.(not that the French were any different from the rest of us...they just had different colonies)
Its free if you're a student and very near the Eiffel. There really is no reason not to go.
Temporary exhibition not to be missed !! I highly recommend!
Very beautiful museum and a captivating "Olmeques" exhibition
Collection of objects of art from several "exotic" cultures around the world. It is not a must-see place but if you are interested in the so-called "primitive" cultures, it is quite amazing. If you do not have this interest, it is better to spend your time in something else. The modernist architecture of the museum is an attraction in itself.
It's huge, but worth it. Exhibitions are well planned, the audioguides are good and it's a beautiful place. I went for "Peru Avant Les Incas" and I thought the info was on point. It was very interesting.
Magnificent museum, however I expected a little better concerning the perspective of the magnificent works that are presented
Mad collection.
Made some new friends...
This museum excels in being a nice garden and building architecturally. The space is really cool and the atmosphere thrilling. Truly a modern museum. The cafe was nice too.
However as a museum I think it fails miserably. The whole permanent exhibition can be summed up with one word: brown. Almost everything is brown and rather dry. I'm biased as I guess I'm not a fan of early ethnic arts. But I just thought they could do more than just package the exhibits avoiding to regions. I can't see a story. It was also rather dark, fine if the exhibits are colorful but it was depressing when everything inside is brown....
In memory of a very great president, Jacques Chirac, I returned to this wonderful museum where I had not returned for 10 years. How many emotions in front of these extremely varied cultural creations for which there is now the deepest respect. A great admiration of the oceanic collections that had escaped me so far. And finally, a lot of emotion by revsionnant the speeches of Jacques Chirac.
Incredible museum, of course. African and art you'd see nowhere else.
I love this museum, I think it has a deep soul, as soon as I go to Paris it is a passage that forced. Last exhibition: bamboo basketry, sculpture ... a whole program.
Juste love this place, a lot of event happens there so try to check them out before, and the museum is really interesting.
Very interessting museum but very unfriendly staff at street entrance Quai Branly on Thursday 27 july 2017 afternoon!
Very interesting and well documented exhibition. Museum still very active.
It was boring. It looked like a dark dead place not interesting
Very nice museum. The museography is original even if it is necessary to take long footbridges to finally reach the galleries.
The organization with the alcoves produces an effect of intimacy with the works, a form of highlighting.
It is regrettable that most of the works are behind showcases that generate reflections. It begins, however, from a conservation point of view of the works concerned.
On the other hand, the view being wide, the collection of the museum offers a wide panorama but does not allow to finely collect the context of the works except some focus. (For example, we could have found an explanation and a broader presentation of the gold weights.)
Finally, the connection in time and space with other works would show to be of his works or their universal character. (Link with modern artists from other geographical areas for example).
Very interesting content.
But building really bad! The access is a long endless serpentine (and without interest !!). Ultra dark interior (night visit downright painful).
I do not dare to imagine the ordeal for people with mobility problems!
The archetype of the evil architectural project
Beautiful, I loved it! do not miss the visit of this museum. Take the duet with the garden gallery for 2 more, expo very interesting.
Only downside during the visit, many classes, it's very much this initiative, but too many and noisy (ditto for some accompanying), should perhaps better manage the coming, unless I chose the wrong day
Permanent exhibition is too much in the shade.
Very interesting exhibition on Olmeques.
Magnificent to navigate to the rhythm of the continents
Very fascinating and with many exhibits of world culture, Africa Oceania French colonies ... there is to be lost in the quantity and quality of the exposed sculptures.
Very nice museum, lots of nice things to see, but the TV screens are making to much noice
