LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE. A MUST STOP IF IN NEW ORLEANS.
I had not been here in over two years. They have changed their menu slightly. The now serve coleslaw instead of green beans with most of their meals.

I just walked out of the restaurant with my family. The hostess was unwelcoming. I asked for a table towards the back and she refused to seat us where we felt comfortable and with less noise. The tables towards the music area were loud and very crowded. As we were walking out, the hostess sat a family of 5 towards the back. What a way to great customers!

Good food. Gave it 4 stars because I feel like you can get the same thing lots of places in NOLA. We enjoyed the band that played. That's something a little harder to find, for some reason... restaurants with good Cajun/zydeco music. My dad and his wife were in from out of state and really excited to hear live zydeco music. Did not disappoint.

Service is a bit slow, so don't expect it to be a quick meal. However, our server was awesome. Felicia is her name. Ready with suggestions, very friendly and accommodating. (She just seems like a lovely person in general.) And definitely had that New Orleans hospitality. I would probably go back again just for her and the music.

I really wanted this place to be amazing, but....we had gumbo and it was just ok. Admittedly, I had never tried gumbo before but this was really mushy, maybe it is supposed to be that way? The server was really nice and the place was busy, so they are doing something right.

Very lively restaurant and great food. Went to dinner here and ordered the fried gator, which was really good. It was busy here and we surprisingly got sat down really quickly. There was a live band playing on stage which was really fun. People were eating and dancing, having a good time.

I highly recommend the blackened alligator. While I do not typically like bread pudding, it is there specialty, so we tried it. Still not my top 10, but the sauce the use is excellent. Good music, not wait. Overall, highly recommend.

Massive place! Definitely looks better on the inside than out! The food and adult beverages are great! Great selection and recommendations from the staff! They had a great seafood sampler platter and appetizers that I was able to share with my buddy at a good price! Lots of delicious food! Would go again!

This restaurant is near the convention center. It was highly recommended by three different people from New Orleans and two people from the Los Angeles area. The menu was fantastic. They would be something for everybody. I enjoy seafood and ordered a surf and turf type dinner.

The food here was extremely tasty. The smoked oyster appetizer was out-of-this-world! We also had the Crawfish bites that were good and the muffaletta as well. The red beans and rice was a bit Bland compared to Nola's on Bourbon Street but nothing was actually bad.

Not too bad, service was good. However their prices are 40% higher than is listed on the Google menu tab and that left a bad taste in my mouth, pun intended. Prices might be worth it for dinner with the live music, etc. considering the location. But for lunch it was pretty outrageous considering the quality of the food, which did seem to be a step above cafeteria- and pretty on par with your average buffet.

Bottom line, if your boss is paying, go for it. If it s your nickel, look elsewhere.

This place was very busy so we thought we'd give it a try. The service was super slow and the food was not good at all (other than the fries). And to make it worse it's way over priced. There was a live band and a small area for dancing. That was the one nice thing about our visit.

This plane is WAY expensive, don't believe the Yelp cost rating of $$. Just an example; a cup of red beans and rice was close $12. Not a bowl, a cup! The bowl was close to $16. Are these Jack's beans? Will I be able to climb up the stalk to find a giant's treasure. You better if you are going to choose to eat here.

Food-lovers find somewhere else to go! Family friendly, sat quickly, staff was the bomb! Music & dance floor made for good people watching! If the food was as good as our server, Jesse, 5 stars woulda been in order! But unfortunately, food was of mediocre, microwave quality and waaaay over-priced. Family of 4 ordered only 2 dishes, big appetizer, 2 sodas, 3 beers and 1 dessert and the bill was $120 + $25 tip. Jambalaya and gumbo was mush in my mouth. Quality of ingredients and kitchen talent was lacking and the bathroom was filthy. If you have to eat here, order a $10 dessert. It is not made in-house. Floor was sticky, out of TP! Someone needs to be managing this restaurant!

Went to Mulate's with a group of 8 people. Restaurant was fully packed and the atmosphere was great for listening to live music and dancing. The servers were very responsive but food took long to come. The food was average (I've lived in Lafayette, LA so I know good Cajun). Would recommend for tourist wanting a feel of Cajun music in New Orleans. For good Zydeco music, lovely people and for reasonably priced foods

If you're into deep fried stuff, this is the place for you. I am giving this resto 4 stars only because my friends enjoyed the Mulate's seafoods platter - everything was deep fried. They also enjoyed the deep fried alligator meat for appetizer .

We visit Mulate's whenever we're in New Orleans. Always our favorite meal of the trip. Catfish Mulate's is possibly the best meal I've ever eaten. Plus live Cajun music and dancing. It doesn't get any better.

Only tried the fried gator and a local kolsch beer (boot). The 2 star is because the beer was great. The gator was so-so, but a little fishy and a few peices has no gator, presumably just lumps of old fishy juice soaked breadcrumbs tasting of scum. After the second price of (not-gator) my stomach was turned. I like fish, but this is just poor practice of breading and quality control. Yuck!

Gumbo was not good. Rice and shrimp with a salty broth. The fried shrimp appetizers with the spicy mustard sauce is ok but nothing special. The bbq shrimp was ok minus the veins in the shrimp. Service was average.

Tourist trap.... locals do not eat here.

Tourist trap.... locals do not eat here.

Nothing special. Oil to fry our food was over used and should have been changed out long ago. Food was expensive for what we received. Actually it was VERY expensive.

Service was ok, other than being billed for 3 drinks when we only received 1. He forgot to bring the second round of drinks and left them on the bill. YUP...we never received our 2nd round of drinks.

When were were walked to our table the hostess literally walked 20 feet ahead of us. No chit chat.... no nothing. She dropped menus on table as she turned around. "Here is your table".

The place is like a big open warehouse, very noisey.

For the life of me I really do not get the hype for this place.....

The worst $65 ever spent on dinner...after waiting 45 minutes. Got exactly what I'm allergic to, exactly what I asked not to be placed in my food. Worse, was takeout, called the manager and he said he couldn't so anything about it, then hung up.
Thanks Mulates
