Incredible food, awsome atmosphere. Service was on point and prompt. Had the crab au gratin, best dish I ate in the city. Could not recommend enough.

I was hesitant to eat here because it looked cheap. BUT LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING! DELICIOUS FOOD! The fried chicken is to die for, and the fries are a 8/10. The menu is pricey, but the plates are huge so it balances out. One plate feeds 2-3 people. Oh, and the seafood pasta was heavenly according to my company! 10/10, would recommend.
Worst experience! Crawfish in my meal was black and rotten! Also 2 mice running around the restaurant!! I feel so gross after going to this place.
Excellent food and service. Expensive but worth it.
Good food, service was a bit slow from northern standards
I will never forget the red fish, jambalaya, alligator, and bread pudding I had back in 2008. This place was super delicious
Great food & service.. Very popular restaurant, so be ready for about an hour wait (well with the wait though)!
Worst seafood I have ever eaten. Food was cold and service was slow.
Our server was great. The music was good. However, the food was just not that good. Everything was way overcooked. Oysters were simply too small to be fried. Jambalaya tasted like it had been sitting on the back porch for days. There was an unfortunate experience with the manager when my father tried to order just a skewer of shrimp in favor of the over fried oysters he had originally ordered. I think it was a communication breakdown, where the manager thought we were trying to get a free meal, however, my dad was just trying to get something he could eat, never mentioned trying to get it for free nor wanted extra jambalaya or fries. My dad was eventually served the skewer of shrimp and the manager did come out as we were about to leave and sincerely apologized, but I don't think we'll be going back there with the plethora of other great places to eat in NOLA.
Great food great music great beer and great staff could not ask for more
Food was ok. Visiting from out of town and have eaten at many restaurants. This by far was the worst selection. Food was not seasoned/marinated. Some of the food was cold. Manager was not receptive. Waiter was pleasant up until we verbalized our concerns.
A little pricy but over all a good experience. Food was great
It may not be smack dab in the middle of the French Quarter, but this multiple award-winning Cajun joint is well worth your time!
Omg, great food and atmosphere great music and I totally recommend the "Bread Pudding" soooo good!
Roast Beef Po Boy was super good! Service and atmosphere were great too!
The jambalaya and the cocktails are great! The live music adds to the atmosphere. If you're passing through NOLA definitely stop here for a bite!
Yumm. The food was very good and delicious and the service was good.
The combo seafood plater is the only way to go. And the bread pudding is heavenly.
Very good food. Friendly service. Enjoyable live music.
Great servive, food portions are so large, price somewhat high. They serve alligator, I don't eat it but some may like it.
Omg! Chicken pasta was amazing...the best I have had in a very long time. The bread pudding was it of this world. Better than commander's palace!
Had the main catfish plate. The catfish was almost raw. The coleslaw was too mustard. The twice baked potato was not good at all and the jumbalya was the only part that tasted ok. Very disappointing.
Smelled so good walking past to the conference every day. Finally got a chance to stop in for some stuffed shrimp.
The food and service was awesome. I do believe that the bread pudding was the best that i have ever had.
If you want the whole Cajun experience, then come here. Mulate's has some of the best authentic Cajun food to be found. This is where the locals come and on weekends you'll have a Zydeco band and dancing. Nothing fancy, just real. Anything you order is going to be tasty. Recommend!
Our server was great
The music was really good
Food was just okay... jambalaya was horrible
Service was extremely slow. Gumbo was just okay. Live music was AWESOME.
Excellent food, atmosphere, and service. We will Be Back as our daughter is about to start attending Tulane.
Liked the atmosphere. The server was inattentive at best and the food was bland and cold. If I'm paying they kind of money for food it should at least be fresh. And when i tell them its not they should replace it... not shrug and walk away. Certainly there are better options.
Loved the Cajan music.....reminded me of French Acadian music from the maritime provinces of Canada.
Oh my gawd. The seafood platter was soooooo goooooood!!!!
This place was conviently adjacent to the Ernest Morial convention center. We were a tired hungry bunch. They did have nice music and friendly staff. Offered a wide selection of wine and beer to include local micro brews in general my party however didn't find their meals up to expectations we had gotten jumbalia and gumbo, my gumbo was a bit bland I didn't mind it but I didn't love it either. we didn't give the alligator a chance who knows maybe that's where they're stronger. Desert was good so perhaps just coffee and a slice of pie.
Just had drinks. Waitress super friendly and informative about area. Would definitely go again for the food. Large place, probably busy at night.
The seafood was very good and the jambalaya was fantastic! A zydeco band was playing, and people were dancing. The restaurant was full, but there was no wait, even without reservations.
I expected more from this place. Food wasn't fresh at all, similar to a fast food restaurant.
Service is slow. Menu is confusing.
They make is clear that there is no substitutions. Rather eat somewhere else since this is NOLA, plenty of cajun food restaurants area.
Very touristy. Food was alright but definitely not exceptional. Service was good.
Service waa just terrible. Server was very slow. We order beer and cups of gumbo. We were at the restaurant well over an hour and half ! They will not get my service again
Authentic Cajun/Creole cuisine with a classic New Orleans atmosphere
Don t waste your money. The food is ok, at best. We could ve cooked it better at home. We ate here our first night in New Orleans and it was so disappointing.
food was amazingly friendly service and. Cajon ambiguity
Basic Cajun dishes. Meaty Zydeco gumbo and small bowl is a meal. Red Beans and rice was a little bland. Very good onion rings and roumelade. Good service. A little pricey.
The food was over priced and not good at all the gumbo was watery the ribs are boiled then covered in sauce . If you're starving then okay
Service was extremely slow. Had no suga to make sweet tea, why were you still open
Such a delicious awesome, culturally saturated place, for a great price! SCORE!!!
Dirty!! Very dirty, the floors was sticky and it was a mouse running around. I wouldn't recommend this place to eat.
Convenient location near the convention center for traditional New Orleans lunch. Food is pretty good but very noisy.
The menu needs a price update. Neat experience, fair food.
The food and service was amazing! Would definitely recommend.
Food was average, gumbo lacked a robust flavor that would be expected of a #1 rated plate. Ambience was on point. Value was not there.
Typical atmosphere and delicious food, you can dance to the rhythm of a live group
Great food, excellent service. Kid friendly and live music. Loved it
Authentic Cajun food, Music after 7pm.
I highly recommend this restaurant!
My kids were dancing. I was dancing. Great Cajun experience. Food great too!
This was my first time visiting New Orleans and I have to say that my overall guest experience at Mulate's was outstanding. My server Peter was awesome, not only was he very knowledgeable about the menu but about the history of his city as well. And he even recommend some great nighttime spots to hangout. I look forward to visiting Mulate's again the next time I'm in New Orleans. Again ask for Peter, he will ensure you and yours have a great time.
Probably one of the best steaks I have wver eaten!!
Was a little one note, not a drinker...atmosphere was nice and staff was friendly.
Longstanding family owned, with great food and service!
Nice atmosphere, friendly service, menu not impressive in regards to taste, cajun shrimp appetizer to expensive for 6 small shrimp swimming in cajun watery sauce
I was hesitant to go here but the locals insisted. the food is not always pretty and seemed a but more authentic. There was live music and dancing. It's great on service and very accommodating. I went with a party of 16 and they got the job done. The food was different but good tasting.
Food was quite good, but make sure you save room for pecan pie al la mode! Best you will ever have!!
The atmosphere and service deserve a 5, but the food, by itself, rates a 3 - not bad but only so so for the price. Well worth the money when there's a cajun band playing!
Very good! Tried the sampler plate and buffalo shrimp. Excellent!!!
