Completely understaffed and lack proper communication. I ve spent days sitting and waiting here and they treat you like cattle. Once you check in you can t leave the small gate area which gets extremely crowded. Yesterday we were shoulder to shoulder for almost 8 hours before they finally let us know the flight was cancelled after waiting all day. Came in this morning for a 6:30 AM flight and there is nobody to be seen at the gate at 6:50 and it appears as though the entire system is down (haven t even heard from anyone). Looks like another day sitting here!!! Get it together United and Montrose Regional this is getting pathetic and is really putting a dent in the tourist business in this part of Colorado.This airport is a complete cluster avoid at all costs.

Completely unprepared for departures and arrivals we spend a lot of time sitting on plane waiting to get to the gate,and waiting to leave the gate.

By far the smoothest AND friendliest airport experience my wife and I have ever had. Very impressive! Everyone was so incredibly nice to us and our small kiddos.

Nice and easy airport. There is one coffee shop and one place to eat. Only one person out of 30 lost their luggage, but that wasn't this airport's fault. The security line is very small and the people working are very slow. There is no type of rush anywhere in the town of Montrose.

I had a great experience. I would give it five stars if they had more places to eat and drink.

Terrible. So crowded ... again. Same as last year. When are they going to expand this airport?

Not prepared to handle extra flights this year. Had to wait after touching down for an hour to find a spot to park the plane. The pilot told us that he requested to park in a different spot and was denied. Ultimately we ended up parking in the spot that was open the entire time. Seems like the airport was understaffed and unorganized.

The TSA are doing THE MOST for no reason. I really dislike this airport. Funny thing is the plane ride out of here is the most comfortable for me.

I have always loved this small town airport everyone has always been so friendly! Unfortunately on 7/13 I had a very bad experience with two united employees who were rude, and insensitive.
Flying is stressful enough, it might me nice to have decent staff at the airport I'm at.

It s an airport that doesn t have its maintenance staff. These jokers just cost me a full day of our vacation due to a single indicator light, and can t even find someone to fix the problem. At least the airport staff are super friendly, but honestly you couldn t pay me to fly out of here again.

Way over crowded and disorganized. American boards two planes at the same time through one door.

Arrived at airport 1.5 hrs before domestic flight. Security was closed, Gates down, no one there. Opened an hour before our flight. Stood in line with a child with a broken leg, 25 people in front of us, with TSA pre check cutting in front of everyone. Only 1 scanner and 2 people running security check. After an hour on security line, missed our flight, which we informed TSA and American Airlines we'd miss. Finally through security and miss our flight. HIRE MORE TSA AND OPEN A SEPARATE LINE FOR TSA PRE CHECK IF YOU'RE LETTING THEM CUT THE REGULAR LINE. Despicable to allow passengers to miss their flight after an hour wait in security line, in a tiny airport such as Montrose.

Nice regional airport! Clean, efficient and well operated. Great town to start a tour of a spectacular area....

5 stars is for Allison (United Airlines) not Montrose airport but she was so helpful and went out of her way to help me with a flight issue! I really appreciate her and felt like she went beyond just doing her job! Probably not a big deal for her but it was definitely for me!

There s always an issue. Broken printer, X-ray machine is broken & I miss my flight.
Needs a lot of work

Extremely understaffed and undersized for the volume of traffic they have come through the airport. American in particular was totally incompetent in the logistics of handling incoming and outgoing flights, which led to a 2 hour delay out of Montrose, leading to missed connections and a long day of travel. And to make matters worse, they lost my luggage as a direct result of simply not getting it on my flight out of Montrose, despite having over 3 hours to get in on the plane. Unacceptable.

my lunch was flagged at security for no reason. asked what caused the additional search, and was threatened by the "supervisor" Richard with police action because I asked about my sandwiches.

They have really improved the airport in Montrose, it was a nice flight out.

This is not a bad airport considering its size and location. I have never had any issues when we have been there, and I've used this airport for years. They have made many improvements to the facility over the years, and they have always employed a very friendly staff.

I don't fault this airport, which tries hard to do its job, but it seems to be a neglected step child when it comes to flight reliability. I fault United in particular for canceled flights and scheduling chaos. After they left my nephew stranded they charged me extra to "fix" their mistakes. I finally gave up and use Grand Junction for friends and relatives. And I never never never fly United.

I don t have crazy expectations for small regional airports but when the airport bar manages to have satellite tv but no sports channels (not even ESPN) it gets really frustrating.

I've been flying out of this airport for the last 15 years or so. It has made some nice improvements (mainly because of the Telluride traffic in the winter) in the last couple of years. The flight destinations are very limited but still impressive for an airport this size. Cost is about the same as traveling to Grand Junction for a flight after taking into consideration: driving fuel and parking fees. The horsefly restaurant is a nice place to relax and grab a sandwich and beer while you wait.

Great little airport. Clean, efficient. Parking price too high for a small town airport.

Airport is small town charming. AA not so great. Flight out 3.5 hrs late, missed my 2nd leg flight last of the day,, so have to stay overnight in Dallas & catch a flight the next day. No one is happy here...

Nice little airport with good connections to DEN. Friendly staff.

TSA line was a joke. Took over an hour to get through. People were missing their flights. Airport isn t prepared for commercial traffic.

Very easy place to return rental and small enough for quick travel and not deal with big crowds. Very nice place

Only good choice I have to fly out of montrose unless I want to drive to Denver or Salt Lake. Has improved dramatically over 10 years. 50% chance to get a good view of the Black Canyon!

Montrose has always been my home. I find the lack of customer service at the airport to be a misrepresentation of Montrose standards.

I fly often back and forth using United or American Airlines.

Last time I had the pleasure of flying out; I was assisted by American Airlines gate attendant Karen (same advised she is the only Karen who works there).

While I was stressed and worried about not making my connection in DFW for work, I reached out for help.

Not only was she unmannerly but did give me false information. I won't go into detail but I will say that one person makes a difference. And she made the wrong type of difference.

I choose to take United and canceled my flight through AA. Just out of curiosity I checked and sure enough my connecting flight departed 1 MINUTE after the moment I would have landed. And I would have been stuck in Dallas overnight with no help since it was "weather related". But she was sure all planes were grounded so I wouldn't miss the flight.

Things happen but people can help and make it better. I will never fly American again because I have a choice at how I want to be treated.

Karen is not a nice person. Karen should not work in customer service. I don't think the other passengers were happy with Karen since 50% or more undoubtedly missed their connections as well.

Including that nice couple going to JAX..

As far as Montrose Airport as a whole. It's a small town. And for what it was 32 years ago (built the year I was born). I would say they're doing good. And thanks to security for keeping it real.

Lyft and Uber cannot pickup at the airport. Transportation to any location is very limited. If you fly in and need a ride use Uber/Lyft however put your pickup location at the Humdinger's gas station. It is a short walk however worth it if you need a ride. Uber and Lyft apps will so no cars available unless you change your pickup location to an area outside of the airport.

Very nice regional airport, lots of fun to come here to go skiing

This airport needs some serious training! Personnel is unable to transfer baggage to other airlines and if you have two separate tickets are unable to make the connections. This is not the first time I have had transfer problems.

This is a nice little airport. There's free (and portal-free) WiFi and plenty of seating including a business center which has plentiful power outlets and more comfortable seats. There's only one place to get food, but they have pretty decent sandwiches.

Great airport, it appears as if the people working there actually enjoy their job... There are pleasant and kind. I wish all of my experiences at airports matched this one

I have been flying for 44 years. This is the worst airport in the country. Over 700 passengers leave within 45 minutes on Saturdays during the winter and there are 2 TSA agents to handle this volume. We were thinking about purchasing real estate in Durango until our trip through Montrose. I will NEVER go through this airport again!!!

No good food options. Horsefly is barely ever open.

Security is fast and it's alright in that regard, but beyond the TSA folks who are required to be nice to you, it is an incredibly conservative community that isn't very friendly to folks that don't fit their conservative mold. FOX News blasts the word of fear, jingoism, and hate on every TV at MTJ.

I fly in and out of DRO whenever possible instead. It's also consistently $200-$300 cheaper.

Easy to fly through, nice selection airline-wise could use more restaurants.

This place us an optional place and it's not to big...

This airport is fantastic. Quick check-in, good flight selection, helpful staff.

The staff was very accommodating. Everybody needs a little patience.

Very easy to access the airport, but then you regret that you are here.

Ticketing and boarding areas extremely cramped; the gate area was grossly understaffed.

You might wish to arrive at this airport two hours prior to your departure time, even though the airport is small - you are going to have to wait.

You are probably better off waiting outside of security and then entering right before your flight, as it is more cramped in the boarding area.

TSA staff probably the most unfriendly in the country. Thanks for the great attitude.

United staff were all helpful, efficient and kind.

Otherwise, I wish to forget this airport.

One of my least favorite airports. I'll prepared to handle departing flights, all of which leave at the same time during peak season. Really need to rethink the way they handle passengers during the busy season. Fine to fly in, sucks to leave from.

This airport is Incredibly disorganized... Flight staff is unable to handle large crowds of passengers. Workers were snarky and rude, and on top of all that the terminal was so overcrowded with people it was nearly impossible to get to your gate. Would not reccomend this airport to frequent flyers as the experience is not worth the headache. Save your time and energy and fly out of somewhere else.

Arrived and waited and waited for TSA to open for my young son s flight. The flight time was delayed by 25 minutes, so when they didn t open security until less than 30 minutes under his original time, it was not extremely worrying, but still concerning. The precheck line was at first the only line open and he went all the way to the desk before they sent him to the back of the line.The line was swarmed by three flights all at once when they opened and his flight was the first scheduled out. I asked a worker and she assured me he would have plenty of time, but he missed the flight. They shut the gate and the flight took off at its original scheduled time, less than 30 minutes after security was opened and three separate flights were in line. Others were left in this predicament as well. Security has to open earlier or at minimum let people through by flight time.

This was our second time flying into this airport and both times were uneventful and simple. We also enjoyed the little Horsefly Brewery they have in there.

Showed up an hour before my flight was to leave, no one at the counter to check bags or assist. Asked TSA if they could get some one to help, they shed United employees refused. Missed my international flight. Had to wait two days for the next flight. Came back two days later. Two hours before my flight (sign on door started that's the earliest they open). No one at counter to help. After yelling 'hello' a few times, one came out to say they didn't open for another 15 mins. Finally after another 10 mins someone came out. They had no clue how to do an international flight .
This was after she told me they only have 3 people and only do what they can. They did wait till i least a few days earlier and then came out, so that way useful.
