Sit at the pizza counter and watch the magic happen
My gratitude to the staff and the owners

We were there last week a party of four. We have a reservation 5:30pm 10 minutes late and the receptionist said we had to wait due to we came late on our reservation, really? It was Friday.
So we re sited on corners where the bar.
The waiter seems rushing to take order then we want to order wine the waiter asked what s our budget out loud-not cool. Ordered food not even an explanations on the menu. Food was all too salty and the waiter did not come and asks how we are doing or did we like the food and rushed us to finish our dinner. It was my birthday and charged us $4.00 for the ice cream and candle. Our bill came to almost $600.oo you would think they will give you a break for one scope of ice cream. I would not recommend and not going back.

This is one of the very few places where almost every item on the menu is promised to be tasty (we sat at the counter and observed staff preparing various dishes - everything looks great!) Squash blossom, tomato & burrata pizza might be the most popular one here. The squash blossom had a unique taste and really made the pizza stand out and you don't want to miss their burrata! We also loved their Greek yogurt gelato pie - no excess of sugar and very nice whipped topping. We will definitely come back and try out other dishes from their menu!

Caution: Foods are served in quite generous portions - look at their salad!

I saw this restaurant on Chef's Table and had to visit it, although I was expecting a much nicer space, the pizza exceeded my expectations. Simply delicious!
The staff is attentive and the preparation time is moderate.
Prices consistent with a restaurant of this type.

I came here because it was a very short drive from Pantages Theatre, right before catching a showing of Wicked (phenomenal musical, highly recommended!). I had bookmarked this place because it is considered one of the greatest pizzerias in the NATION, so... yeah.

We started out with the white beans bruschette alla toscana with saba. I thought the flavor combination was pretty unique! It came with six decently sized pieces with this white bean hummus(?) and saba. Upon discovering that saba is this sweetened Italian grape syrup, it seemed like something new to try. I only ate two of them because I thought they were a teensy bit on the salty side, but my friend thought they were absolutely fantastic, so overall they're a good choice! But the next appetizer is truly the star.

The chicken wings alla diavola. GET THE CHICKEN WINGS ALLA DIAVOLA. To be completely honest, I really don't care how great any of the other appetizers sound, the wings are better. If you appreciate smoked flavor with a good bit of spice (not too overpowering), then this appetizer is the one for you. Four chicken wings. All perfectly seasoned with a full-flavored punch that hits you at first bite. Smoked paprika with allspice comes to mind, but I'm definitely not one to know. At first, I tried to be fancy about them with a fork and knife. Don't even try. You NEED to get your hands dirty if you want to enjoy every last bit, and for me every last bit means past the meat, past the cartilage, and straight off the bone. Trust, our waitress didn't judge, she just knew exactly when we needed more napkins. Props.

Nancy Silverton. Co-Owner. She brings home the bread in this restaurant, literally. She is the one who is responsible for the unparalleled crust on this pizza. It is crunchy on the outside, fluffy and chewy on the inside. Now I know that's a cliche, but I'm telling the truth. It seems hard and stale on the outside (bang it lightly on the plate, and it doesn't budge), but as soon as you bite into it, you realize it was all an act, that the dough has an interior stiff fluff about it like no other crust you've eaten before. It's one for the books. A+

The other thing is the sauce. Now, we ordered the Pizza alla benno without the speck, so I don't know if it was the insanely thinly sliced pineapple that ran its juice through the tomato sauce or what, but there was a VERY unique flavor. A twinge that was a vague reminder of a sweet delicate mixture of apple cinnamon and sweet pineapple (crazy, right? Go figure). Whatever happened, happened for the best in that sauce. Hands down one of the best pizza sauces I have ever had. I believe Mario Batali is the man behind the scenes taking responsibility here. Bravo, Mario.

Overall, a great experience. We were seated in the Jack Warner Room, even though it is mainly used for group dining. I appreciated the casual yet classy environment, with a wine cellar crosswork lining the walls and a spiral staircase in the corner that actually took me a while to notice (sadly, nothing exciting on the upper level, just an office they say). I recommend this restaurant and all the dishes listed in this review. Cheers to the pie!

Someone recommended this restaurant to us so we went to try it and we liked it a lot. We ordered Insalata Mista Salad (with radish, cucumber & herb) and it was very fresh, light and tasty. Then we three shared 2 pizzas, one was Napolitana (Tomato, mozzarella di bufala, olives, anchovies, chili flakes & fried capers) and the other one was the pizza with Bacon, Salame, Fennel Sausage, Guanciale, Tomato & Mozzarella. They both were very good! The service was very good also. We had a great experience here.

Definitely authentic pasta. The table bread is great! I ordered the Porcini Mushrooms and Cream and felt that the pasta could have used a little bit more flavor, but I enjoyed it overall. The portion was also perfect for me.

The place is a bit small. There is an outdoor seating area, but it still might be difficult for a large party.

Some of the best pizza in LA that I've had. Some days are better than others. I usually get delivery and it takes a while but the pizza is usually very fresh. Only on a couple occasions was the pizza not warm enough or cheese spilled off of it. The dough is great, one of the few places that just eating the crust leaves you satisfied. I usually order an artichoke, ham, pepperoni and onion pizza. Eating this pizza is a weekly habit.

We were a party of six for Sunday lunch. The place is very noisy and I felt better suited to a younger more energetic crowd than us in our 50s to 70s. Due to the noisiness we were forced to talk loudly to each other adding to the din.
All the dishes were fine, the pizzas good but a couple of dishes had an overabundance of sliced onion which put two diners off trying the side dishes. I am OK with onion and enjoyed the dishes. We only drank water and had no desserts yet the cheque was around $240 which for a pizza each and sharing three starters , no wine or desserts I thought was expensive.

After my bad wedding catering experience, I figured I owed it to myself to go to classic pizza and SoCal Italian Place to indulge myself and get that bad taste out of my mouth! This place always delivers

WOW! This pizza is amazing. I'm a huge fan of pizza and it's by far one of my favorite dishes, so trust me when I say, that it's amazing. The pizza is so fresh and saucy it melts in your mouth. It gets really busy so make a reservation or you will wait forever. Also make sure you don't sit in the back room, it's super hot in there and that would be my only complaint about this place.
It was so hot and it was almost like there wasn't any ventilation. Their customer service was great! Very fast and friendly. I didn't try their desserts since the pizza filled me up but they looked very good. I will be going back to try one.

Friendly service, great prosciutto, tasty salads. The pizza toppings were delicious but the crust was tough and chewy by the time it cooled. The three pizzas we ordered to share were all brought to the table at the same time.

Disappointing for pizza at the price paid.

Tasty

Good, but a bit pricy!

Good, but a bit pricy!

This is one of those places that would be perfect for a date or an evening out with friends. I really like their pizzas, and their antipasti is excellent as well. I wasn't a huge fan of their salads though.

Try their specialty pizzas. They're really good. Parking is a pain in the butt around the area, but it's LA. The valet is pretty expensive there, so try to find street/metered parking.

The trouble for parking is worth it. I really liked the food overall, and you should check it out. Just make sure you've got a full bank account. It can get pretty expensive here.

We didn't make a reservation but got at table at 3pm. We ordered a anchovy and fennel sausage pizza. They were both so good. Still, we had food envy from all the people around us. A great crust on the pizza. Pricey but worth it.

These personal pizzas will definitely hit the spot. Inmovative combinations, fresh mozzarella, homemade sausage, and a salami and cheese + radiccio chop salad to boot. Always a great spot but make a reservation! Get the sausage and fresh mozzarella pizza.

This pizza spot is without a doubt one of the best pizzerias that I've been to. I had the half Margarita and half Yellow Squash pizza. The ingredients are fresh and very tasty. Any time I'm in SF, I'll be sure to stop by this place.

The burrata margarita pizza was beautiful, with the best thinnest crust in town. However, the appetizer of wood roasted cauliflower with capers was so completely delicious and unexpected. We got delivery - which was quick and ordering via YELP was easy and no hassles. I will definitely eat here again and can't wait to try the fresh burrata.

No ranch. Porqwhy. My pizza had an egg on it. And a poe ta toe. Which was odd but good. So yeah. Crust was good, didnt understand much on the menu, and because of that my pizza ended up having no toe ma toe sauce. Really only have myself to blame for that one... So uhh yee. (Forrest Gump voice) and that's all I have to say about thayat. Gang gang

Oh man, what a bummer.

Oh man, what a bummer.

Years ago, when they first opened, I remember having their pizza a bunch of times and being blown away.

Not so much anymore.

My friends and I had been meaning to come for a while. Apparently, we waited too long.

Got the tricolore salad, the meat and cheese sandwich, and the fungi, blt, and Fresno chili salame pizza. Then the dulce de leche -esque dessert whose name I forgot.

Let's get it out of the way. The pizza is not nearly as good as it used to be. All three were super bland. The crust is great, but the sauce just missed the mark. The toppings were bland, too.

The sandwich was fine but I've already forgotten what was in it because it was so mediocre.

However:
The salad and the dessert were AMAZING. I could've had three more of the salad. Just... delicious. Lemony, anchovies, salt, bitter greens... perfection. The dessert? Also fantastic. Super tasty peanuts, caramel ice cream, marshmallow cream (I think)... to die for.

But I'm not going back to a pizzeria whose pizza is $19 for 4 slices of bland.

I can only give it three stars. Though the pizza crust is one of the best pizza crust I've had in a napolitina style pizza. The ingredients are fresh and you can really taste tomato in the sauce but there was lack in seasoning in the combination of ingredients. I've had napolitina style pizza in many other restaurants that may not have as good of a crust but the ingredients make all the difference. Meatballs were good but they were not as tender is you would expect. The squash blossoms we're good. I might go again to try other dishes to see if I can rate them a little better.

Not a very large place, but nice decor and atmosphere. Room gets pretty loud with kitchen, patron conversation, and music which I love. No one could hear my 2 year and 5 year old boys talking loud. The food is really good because you can taste they are using the best ingredients. Pizza is solid but takes a step up due to the ingredients.

What we ate:

Bread = 4 star
Mussels= 4 star
Meat lover pizza = 4 star
Desert / salted peanut marshmallow thing= 4 star

This place is phenomenal! Monday special...9 inch pizza, salad and a drink $10 including tax. My salad was fresh. My saag paneer pizza to die for. Black mango tea delicious. Service was friendly and the establishment was a relaxing place to step into and out of busy downtown with all the construction. Do yourself a favor and take the red line train so u don't have to search for parking.

Walked in here with a reservation and had the worst experience with the host possible. It started with my asking to be seated even though one guest hadn't arrived. The snobbery was unbelievable. The pizza is only special for the price. Avoid. You. Have. Been. Cautioned.

I loved the atmosphere and the food was fantastic! Also, I highly recommend the squash blossom pizza, it is one of the most unique pizzas I have had (ever) and it is a definite go to at Pizza Mozza! You won't be disappointed.
