Just recently moved to Leura and always on the look out for good craft beer spots I decided to check mountain culture out. Great spot! Wish it wasn't smokey as would have loved to sit out on the deck. The beer I had on tap was the imp pale and was hoppy and fresh..tasted great! Ordered the chicken burger it was nice but if I had to nitpick would say it needs more sauce (mayo or whatever is used). Took some red ipa take aways and really enjoyed those as well. Awesome spot and will be back

Loves these guys Simple, delicious beer, hand crafted. Tasty burgers (don t miss the curry sauce for your chips!), exquisitely renovated heritage building. Do yourself a favour and check it out but get there early to nab a table

Definitely a must visit when coming up to Katoomba.
You would not think anything of this building driving past on the street but the inside is truly a comfy place to spend an afternoon with stylish trendy retro deco!
Friendly staff always happy to help you choose your beer choices and a kitchen to cook up a hearty burger.
We shared a tasting paddle and got to enjoy what mountain culture beer co has to offer.
We'll be back to visit again!

This is going to be the fun place to be in Katoomba...located at the top of e hill in recently renovated building which would be more suited to Balmain or surround... The beer is creative and smooth tasting.. Wife loved the Rose wine so I purchased a 2 litre flagon..I tried several beers and preferred the pale ale...to accompany the beer we had chicken crackling ( crispy chicken skin...fabulous ) ... A lot of trendy people enjoying the beer...... The place to be seen in the Blue Mountains....

The beer was great, atmosphere and the view is amazing. Their chips, olives and roasted almonds are great. The staff are very nice and helpful. But, they had the worst burger I ever had in my whole life, and Im not exaggerating. Apparently it was due to the new cheff who was there only on trial and I doubt if she passed the test. The photo is the burnt burger I received.
The management was generous enough to refund us on the food.
I will definitely go back for the beer but may not eat there if I see the same cheff in the kitchen.

Great venue. The beer/wine/cider is great, but the big let down is the food. I had the "original burger". It was less substantial than a burger from McDonald's, and it cost $18. Way overpriced, minimal creativity and average patty. The fries were disappointing too. Brioche bun was the only real highlight. Was still very hungry post meal.

Absolutely loved hanging out here for a whole Saturday afternoon. Staff is super nice and friendly, there is a kids corner upstairs, delicious burgers coming from the kitchen and of course the best beers money can buy. We can't wait to come back. 11/10!

Feeling like one of the last beer lovers on the planet to get in here, after hearing so much praise from friends about this brewery, taproom and bistro. The praise was not overdone. Every beer a winner, the burgers were good and the takeaway beers were decent variety. Good we were stopping by the brewery on a snowy Friday evening, or we might not have gotten in. Two floors of tables and nearly all occupied. There s a balcony in the back with a view, for when the wind chill warms up a bit from -5C. Lifting the game for a town that needs it.

As a local who visits here every weekend, here's my take on this venue. First of all, great beer, really it is. Expensive, but great. Which leads me to why this potentially fantastic venue can't get 5 stars from me. The service here is just way too poor for a place serving $10 beers - you'd expect just a touch of class.... The bar on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon is often only staffed by one person and thus you get a long haphazard line in front of the bar into which rude people often push their way to the front of queue. The bar staff often act like they're too bored to serve you - at times it's like the fact you're there to buy a beer is interrupting their chat. The service there is just way too casual and disrespectful to customers who are spending a lot of money there if they're staying for a few rounds.
As it is now, this is a place I like. Improve the service and it would be a place I'd love.
5 star beer. 2 star service

Went there the other day with my wife. Awesome beers, Top notch food, great to sit in the beer garden and watch the sun go down. We also brought our dog along and the owner came out with a bowl of water. The staff there are really really nice and i just cant fault this place at all. If you want an excellent beer with a relaxing fun vibe amongst an awesome carpentry worked pub. This is the place to go.

After a Blue Mountains bush walk, our group headed to Mountain Culture Beer Co for some lunch and it was incredible. Everyone in our group raved about the selection of beers - created by the owners - particularly the Status Quo NEPA, which we bought several of on the way out. The burgers were delicious (the fried chicken one was outrageously good) and the service was really friendly and super quick. The space is really beautiful too and has all the old world charm of the mountains with modern touches. Plus, there was a little play area upstairs with some toys that meant we could eat lunch without interruptions. We ll be back ASAP.

The beer beer in the mountains. A great venue that used to be a civic video lovingly renovated. The burgers are on point. Views from the balcony are lovely. Great service. Family owned. A must see when in Katoomba.

Really nice craft beer brewery. Especially the JP2 and the goose is very interesting! You can sit outside under a protecting roof and enjoy the beers and the food there. I had issues with my Visa, I couldn't pay for the last beer. So they just handed it over for free :)

The atmosphere and the beer are excellent. But the food is not good. I ordered their Special burger and it was burnt. I told the man who was at the checkout and he ordered me a new one that was also burnt. Really not worth the $20. If you charge $20 to Hamburg I expect it to be perfect and it's far from it.

There is a wide range (10+) of in house-brewed beers. Ranging from the fresh and drinkable Lager all the way through to the fuller bodied Double Red or the chocolate and coffee tinged Stout. All are outstanding. As a craft beer loving, session drinking regular i can highly recommend circumnavigating them all.

Food is suburb. Our table had "the best butter milk, fried chicken burgers in memory". Their words not mine.

The venue perfectly suits the vibe, mountainous outlook from the deck, the beers and the bashful legends that are DJ and Harriet, the owners.

If i could give more than 5 stars i would.

If you come to the mountains, Mountain Culture is a must.

Great for a beer connoisseur not so much if you know your burgers. The dry burgers with overcooked patties not something I d go back for but a nice joint to knock back some of the decent drops nevertheless

Do you like beer? Well this for you as this is what this place does well.

Weekly brews and westerly views on the edge of the main action in Katoomba. Slip out the back for sunsets or into a cosy nook inside after you have earned a beverage bush walking.

Great location and atmosphere. Renovation on the old building is wonderful. So many different beers to taste. Locally sourced wines and ciders. Food was lovely especially crispy chicken skins. Staff were all very friendly ... definitely come back again.

Absolutely fantastic. My husband and I shared 2 flights and we could not pick a favourite. They were all amazing. Knocking it out of the park you guys. We also had dinner and the burgers are fantastic. We are from Canada and will be very sorry to leave this brewery behind.this brewery behind.

Just what Katoomba has been waiting for! They have done such a good job on the transforamtion of this building. They serve a delicious selection of beers and the ultimate beer snacks. Highly recommended!

The brewery has a nice atmosphere and the beers we had were both really nice! We expected more for the prices of the burgers though. The Brewer's burger comes with bacon. It was a tiny little piece that the bun had to be lifted for to see. The Junior burger's patty was very dry. We might stop by again for a beer, but the shops in town have preferable food.

What a great find here in Katoomba! This beer loving, craft beer seeking Texan totally appreciated the vibe, the ambiance, the GREAT attention to beer making that is present at Mountain Culture Beer Co. Restoring a historic building is not easy, there are so many permits and rules...it takes a visionary or two of them (Harriet and DJ!!) to succeed...and succeed they did. Not only with the beer - but the space. The cozy feeling (in spite of a high ceiling) with exposed beams was not only comfortable but easy to get comfortable in..and subsequently hard to leave - not going to lie- good beer helped keep us grounded.
The bar food was good(check out the pics) and the Tater Tots were better than those found at USA Sonic Drive ins! The restrooms are clean and accesses off the porch which is really beautiful too.

If I could give 10 stars I would give 20.

Awesome little hidden gem in the blue mountains. Great beers, really cool vibe and delicious burgers, even the gluten free ones were excellent. Super friendly staff, would definitely recommend.

Better, classier places in Katoomba. Sweet, sugary poor quality beer and a rude experience from the bar staff made me and my group leave. Not the experience you want when visiting the amazing Katoomba! Luckily we found better places during our stay.

Amazing transformation of a run down historic building into what might be the best craft brewery in the southern hemisphere. Take your time and work your way through the many brews on tap and grab a burger on the way. I tried the Pale Ale (great depth and malt/hop balance), the JP1 (juicy fruit over hoppy pale ale, a revelation) and the Kettle Sour (made with a lazy 100kg of guava giving it a tangy bite that really grew on me as I worked through my southern fried chicken burger). My new local!

Mind blowing my good beer. They shifted to take aways temporarily with the pandemic but still amazing. Lots of limited edition beers but even their staple ales are probably as good as you have had. what an asset to Katoomba.

I was looking forward to having a beer with my Son on Saturday afternoon 5th September and when we arrived there was a line of people waiting to get in. So we thought OK this is a Covid precaution/requirement and placed ourselves in the line. After approximately 15 minutes of absolutely nothing happening, the line hadn t moved an inch. There was a young couple at the front of the line who d been there for nearly half an hour and had no idea of what was happening. There was no one there keeping the waiting patrons informed as to what was happening or how long the wait was, nothing no one! Yet there were people who were leaving your establishment but those places were not being filled by those waiting in the que. Ad to this my Son decided he d get some take away, and when he wanted to pay there was no one there to take the payment. So, we left and had a pleasant afternoon at the Station Bar where the service was excellent. I don t personally care how good your beer may be but you really need to pick up your service game folks.

Since my initial review I ve received a phone call from Harriet, one of the owners of Mountain Culture Beer Co. We had a very pleasant conversation where I explained my experience and she was most concerned. Harriet had been absent from the business on Maternity leave with her first child where normally, she would have been in a supervisory role. Harriet was most keen to discuss my concerns with the staff involved on the day, and thanked me for bringing this to her attention. I thank Harriet for her concern in responding to my experience and wish her and Mountain Culture Beer Co. all the very best and I hope to some day in the near future sample some of their beers.

Great beer, friendly staff good burgers and decor, only suggestion is you should have a tasting section of bar and a separate purchases area, as I had to wait ten minutes to get second beer when my burger arrived as there was a queue of slow taster customers in front while I was waiting to grab a drink with my food

This is a review for the food only, not for the beer. (Their beer might be amazing, but I didn t have any). We came here today for a family birthday. The fried chicken burger was disappointing. There was a blob of slaw somewhere on it (not evenly distributed) and the chicken was just greasy and pretty thin. I didn t enjoy it. Fried pickles and potato tots were nice and with a nice curry dipping sauce. The others ordered Brewers burgers but they didn t get bacon on theirs. The atmosphere was great though and a nice little play section upstairs for kids which is a lifesaver when you have a toddler.
