My father died early morning and we called to have his body picked up and no one was at the phone. We called and called. They tell you they have an employee there 24/7 but we had to wait over an hour before someone finally responded

R.I.P Hillel Slovak (1962-1988), original guitarist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers from 1983-1988. He appeared on the second and third albums (Freaky Styley and The Uplift Mofo Party Plan). Sadly he succumbed to a heroin overdose. The band was SO close to fame at the time.

My buddy and I walked right in and asked where Mama Cass was. The woman was a gracious, sweet, friendly lady approximately 65 years old. She rather happily pointed out and handed a map where we could find our beautiful, plus sized singer. We visited for a while, enjoyed the well kept grounds, and left very happy. I have nothing but nice things to say about this resting place.

Everything went well for the most part. I do have a pretty big complaint. My sister and I planned my dad's funeral very carefully, and were looking forward to the taping of the event. We spoke for about thirty minutes. However, the day before, unbeknownst to me, my stepmom signed paperwork and in that was permission to tape the memorial service - which for some reason she declined. It was a mistake, and since my sister and I planned every bit of the event, and we signed paperwork on Sunday, I am flummoxed that she did that and that the counselor didn't mention what took place in this private meeting the day before. A significant slip-up. Everything else was satisfactory or good.

Beautiful grounds. I have family that have been there since the 60s and more recent, as of the last 5 years. It was an overwhelmingly emotional visit, as I haven't been since 1999, the reveal of my grandma's headstone. I was having difficulty finding my family at first, so a grounds keeper approached me and offered to help find them, which he did. Such nice people there.

DUE TO A GRAVE LACK OF COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE MORTUARY I HAD EMPLOYED TO HANDLE MY MOTHERS FUNERAL AND THE FAILURE TO UNDERSTAND THAT MT SINAI HAD NO PART IN THE ARRANGEMENTS THAT WERE MADE I MISDIRECTED MY FRUSTRATION AT MT SINAI
NOW THAT I HAVE RECEIVED APPROPRIATE INFORMATION, I DO NOT HOLD MT SINAI RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MISHAPS THAT OCCURRED. THEY HAVE TRIED TO CORRECT ANY ERRORS, FOR WHICH THEY HELD NO RESPONSIBILITY, AND I TRULY APPRECIATE THIS GESTURE.

THANK YOU MT SINAI

I was there yesterday for a friend of mines funeral service, there were only really two people who actually were professional and friendly, but during the funeral service it was a rush rush type of thing, I mean I never been to a Jewish funeral service, but it really felt like it was on a timeline, and the Hurst didn't seem too be cleaned in like over a month, and don't try to use the bathroom on the left side of the building, cause I don't know how it's like in the women's bathroom, but you have to squat down, and then at the end of the funeral the guy doing the service stepped on top of one of the tombstone of, plus he was kinda rude to another attendee, plus there was no traffic control so a few people almost got hit because the cars were going the wrong way, and they were going a little bit to fast.

Visiting a burial site is an emotional experience ...

Visiting a burial site is an emotional experience for family, friends and colleagues. That may be why we step so carefully between graves and speak in hushed tones.

Religion has formalize "the passing." Mount Sinai Memorial Park and Mortuary is a cemetery in the Jewish tradition. The mortuary is simply decorated. The casket, during the ceremony, sits in the front, covered by a large embroidered cloth. The mortuary's wooden benches are comfortable, although, a thin pillow is not a bad idea. Good sound and proper lighting makes it easy to follow the service. Prayer books, in both English and Hebrew, and kippahs (yarmulkes) are supplied. The staff is knowledgeable.

The receptionist at the information desk, located in the mortuary's lobby, can locate the gravesite you wish to visit.

The cemetery's grounds are beautifully planted and maintained. There are many tiered gardens, that offer a bit of privacy. Benches and some areas of shade are offered. There are no drinking fountains.

(I was told only a few of the grave sites are still available for purchase.)

Security is tight. Guards at the entrance guide you to the internment site you are visiting. This is a large cemetery. If you lose your way, ask any staff worker for directions.

A large, free parking lot is available adjacent to the mortuary. Parking at grave sites along the many roads, keeps walking to a minimum. The cemetery hugs the sides of rolling hills.

ADA bathrooms are available in the mortuary. The property is mostly wheelchair accessible. Ramps and sidewalks are often nearby. However, soft ground, particularly after watering can make accessibility difficult.

As I was attending a funeral, picture taking was inappropriate.
