We stayed at the Mt Buller Chalet and Hotel recently and paid around $2600 for 4 nights accommodation to ensure a comfortable stay. We had a mattress that was so uncomfortable we needed to seek chiro and physio on our return to Perth. The springs sticking into our back were shocking for the price we paid.
We let staff know and no follow up occurred at all. We have paid half this amount for a longer stay at other places having visited the mountain 8 times and slept much better at all other locations in a similar distance around the main ski run and shops.
We hope the staff will take the comments seriously as the location and rooms were great, just the serious lack of care-factor for members of the public who pay a very high amount to be able to get a decent nights rest.
Very rare we are not able to give a 5 star review, its very unfortunate.

Out dated and run down. Our whole level smelt of curry when you walked through it to get to your room and the lift stinks of something bad. Our room was not good or up to what I would guess is chalet standard or style for $600 per night. Old furniture, had to ask for a DVD player which when arrived included a prehistoric VHS section? Not even a light above the kitchenette area making it very challenging to see what your doing cooking wise and just making the feeling inside the room dark and gloomy. Carpet worn out. The bathrooms are in desperate need of an updated renevation. Staff don't see to care they are just there working onsite for their snow play. They did however allow us a late check-out.

We spent 4 nights here just after Christmas this year, and am wishing we had looked at other options. I chose to stay at the chalet as I didn't want the hassle of dealing with an air bnb, but honestly I should have.

PROS:
Beautiful and convenient location
Friendly front desk, the one time I saw them

CONS:
Room wasn't serviced once while we were there, and every time I went to enquire when it would be at the front desk, it was unattended with a phone number to call.
Room was poorly lit (no light in kitchenette at all?)
Room had a beautiful view of the building next door. In a near to empty building, it's not a deal breaker but certainly a bit of a bummer when they could have put us in a room with a view.
Once again, over 4 days the room wasn't serviced once, there was no where for us to drop our rubbish so it just had to accumulate in the room. Pretty gross.
The bed was so bad I considered sleeping on the sofa. I woke up each morning in a huge amount of hip pain. I am not old.
The tv couldn't read USB drives for some reason and would regularly drop out the available FTA channels.
The bathroom is straight from the 90s and you get wetter standing at the mirror than you do standing under the shower head. The best part is the plentiful hot water, but its everywhere other than in your hair. PLEASE UPDATE THE SHOWER HEAD, which was attached using plumbers tape.
Cook top didn't work, thankfully they had replaced with a electric frypan. Good thing I didn't want to cook anything that required a saucepan. (Paid extra for a kitchenette).

In other words - room is in serious need of an update with broken, unusable equipment for a pricey rate.

Enjoyed my holiday well enough, but won't be staying here, or recommending to others, until I hear of improvements.
