BY STORE BUSINESS MODEL: this is the MOST EXPENSIVE Goodwill in the Boston area. I m not just saying that because I feel bitter about paying more than I wanted to (although I totally feel that), but it s confirmed by the store employees that because they are the flagship store, they have a higher dollar goals that they need to meet each day (to sell), so they actually prices items higher to meet that goal. The employees there said that they will use higher end items to charge a lot more than, honestly, the shopper there can afford, to meet their store goals. While I totally understand this, I don t think Goodwill s business model here is right because now they re making money at the expense of the people they were designed to help. It s just wrong.

I took a picture of a paper towel holder that they had the audacity to price it higher than what you can buy new at TJ Maxx, WHILE LEAVING THE TJ MAXX S TAG ON. SMH.

has lost its glory. have shopped here for years and it is but a shadow of its former self. I hope this is due to pandemic/supply issues and that it will be reborn in the future. the quality of the items has reduced drastically with better labels virtually non-existent. many items are damaged so look carefully as you can no longer return them. also, be advised that customers are no longer able to search clothing racks as they come out from the back. management should remind certain employees that it would be better to simply inform customers of the stores "no rack shopping" policy in a calm, polite fashion and that it is rude to state "don't shop the racks!!" like a drill sargeant. In conclusion, say a prayer for this location or it will cease to exist.

I feel so bad for leaving this but idc, today I tried to use the restroom and was denied because of the no public bathroom policy. However my family has been here countless times so I thought I would get a free pass. I was told that I couldn t come in the store after I literally messed up my clothes and I needed more. All because I used the BATHROOM outside. I don t live near this facility and there was so much traffic so I didn t go home. I was driving for 10 on the same street because of traffic. If you don t want people being disrespectful, you should also treat people a lil nicely.

Summary: Clean, organized, check your receipt before you walk out and adjust your expectations.

So much potential, but has gone downhill. The good: This store is usually on the cleaner side and is mostly organized.
The great reviews seem to mostly be pre-pandemic and, indeed, it used to be a great spot. In the past several months, Goodwill seems to have hit financial troubles or to have changed management for the worse?

First I noticed the cashiers routinely rounded-up the change without asking the customers. It seems like they were under pressure to get these donations. Then I noticed that prices are being increased at the register. T-shirts, as in Hanes undershirts and short johns, are often charged as short sleeve blouses. Short sleeve blouses get charged as long sleeve. Yoga pants are charged as sweatshirts/sweaters. Larger kid's clothes (Carter's and Cat&Jack age10 and up) are often charged as women's clothes. If you think you found a score, think again. That price can go way up at the register. Are the staff trying to keep the good finds for themselves or specific resellers? Maybe. A former staff was also a reseller and many high-end donated goods never made it to the shopping area. I personally saw staff pull out very nice pieces and guard them until this coworker went to pick them up on her time off and bought them. Other customers were not allowed to touch that cart. This month one of the workers literally took a dress from my hands and took it to the employees only section and not to the dress section. I was stood there in disbelief. What the?

Some staff consistently disrespect customers and do so in front of the managers. Once I witnessed one staff member walk several times around a few girls in their late teens while muttering the words "these people are ignorant" and "stupid" to the girls. Another time, I saw a man place a pair of sneakers on the check-out table by the registers and the staff immediately commented with another that the customer was trying to steal them. The staff went on to trash-talk the customer to his face while it was clear to me that the customer was simply trying to buy the sneakers in very little English. To me, he seemed uncomfortable with the lack of dignity in this treatment.

Mostly clean and organized. All else has been falling through unnecessarily. Please, Goodwill, do better.

Greedy store, went yesterday (9-9-21) and saw a Blu-Ray player, I don't know if it works, but they're selling it for $30, are you kidding me? Wife found a pair of ladies sneakers (Nike) and want $25 for them. I told them, that's how much they cost new.....what's wrong with you people. They're selling donated used stuff for retail price. Never going back there.
The Goodwill store located on River St, Hyde Park has unbelievable prices, I've never seen an item more than $10 bucks.

A huge choice of clothes, including clean-label items. Get ready to spend extra minutes to find your size, but variety and prices justify that sacrifice well.
Awesome job, people at Goodwill who started sorting clothes by type/color!
Kitchenware stuff is often heavily scratched and used, it's harder to find gems there. Electronics could sometimes be great. A lot of adequate books.

It was said that you can donate clothes here. Well, today I wasted my time coming to this store and encountered the most unprofessional and rude person, who said 'NO' to my question where can I donate clothes. She then just walked away ignoring my question why was it said that I can donate here and where can I donate. She even did not look at me and all her behavior indicated that she was very annoyed by my presence. Just avoid this place if you don't want to be treated in a rude way and waste your time, it is ridiculous.

This place will go bankrupt and won't be able to blame it on the pandemic. In fact, it seems like management and staff are actively trying to bankrupt it by alienating and mistreating customers, changing prices at the register, and overpricing merchandise to TJ Maxx and Marshalls prices. For example, a Dooney purse was more expensive at Goodwill than at TJ Maxx. A used Children's Patagonia jacket was cheaper on Kidizen and the Patagonia used goods website. If I wanted to pay TJ Maxx prices, wouldn't I go to a far more pleasant store like an actual TJ Maxx? The staff seem genuinely annoyed that customers shop there. I have witnessed staff verbally abusing and trash-talking ruly shopping, paying customers is what seems like displaced anger. The 50% off tag is often ignored and I have been charged full price almost every time unless I catch it while it's happening. The manager by the cash registers changes the prices of merchandise as customers are checking out based on the brand or condition, rendering the advertised prices misleading at best.

Really want to support, but incredibly disrespectful staff and dishonest check-out process. Maybe they're under financial hardship and can't afford to train but also want to raise prices surreptitiously? Bad experience unfortunately.

One of the best goodwills out there! Staff can be a bit prickly, but the selection wins out. I wish the changing rooms would open, but they're following their covid policy so you can't really complain.
