Wonderful atmosphere on the water, food and service was excellent
Took my Mom and Wife here for mother's day and was beyond impressed with everything from the scenery to the service and especially the food. I got the shrimp and eggplant Napoleon and was not disappointed with the choice. Highly recommend this place to anyone traveling the area.
My favorite restaurant! I found this place from a delivery driver who drove out to new roads. I currently live in lsu and will be moving to walker towards the end of the year. With this said I will still make that hour and a half drive just to eat here. That says a lot about a restaurant. Amazing food, presentation, view of the lake, friendly staff, and not too load. I have zero complaints about morels and would advise everyone to go eat here at least once.
Wonderful atmosphere with beautiful lake view. Everyone in my party enjoyed their food and the service was excellent.
We visited for the first time today. We are in town for business. I absolutely loved the atmosphere being it s on the River. When we walked in a very nice guy seated us and took our drink order. We thought he was our waiter so we ordered an appetizer as well then later a girl introduced herself as our waitress. Our appetizer came out fairly fast and the fried green tomatoes were amazing! It definitely set the bar on how the food would go. It did take about 30 minutes to get out food which my husbands salad came out with our dinner and it didn t come out as an appetizer. During the wait we needed refills and our waitress was talking to other staff member. Mind you, we were her only table. We tried to flag her down and nothing the first time. We got the guy who seated us to get us refills. Later we had to yell at the waitress to refill our drinks. Once we asked for the check, it didn t take her no time to come back for the money. The service was extremely poor. All of the food was amazing except the hamburger I ordered. Don t get me wrong, the beef was fresh but it had absolutely no flavor. It would ve been better with seasoning or even some flavor sauce to make up for the difference. With tasting the fried green tomatoes, the gumbo, the salad and the fries I was definitely let down by the hamburger.
1st time at Morel's was a step back in time for me on False River. It was like returning to the old Bonaventure's on the south end of the Lake.
You're literally over the water eating great food and watching the birds and the boats come and go.
Then take the kids on the pier and feed the ducks.
Highly recommended!
Morels restaurant has the best hamburger I have ever eaten in a restaurant. It comes packed with flavorful seasoning and is done the way you would like it
Well prepared seafood dishes with a great presentation. Views out of almost the entire building. I'd give it 5 Stars if the ambiance was a little higher.
Beautiful view, awesome food. A really nice evening.
awful experience! we walked in and it wasn t busy at all but we had to wait 30 mins to be greeted by our server and waited about another 30 mins for our appetizer which was DISGUSTING the cheese sticks were cold like if they had been sitting there and the marinara sauce was SO COLD AND CHUNKY. we waited for a HOUR for 2 poboys. our server never came check on us the whole time we were there expect for when she saw we were telling the other server that we were upset and aggravated. i DO NOT recommend this place
My wife and I went to Morel's to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was busy when we got there so our waiter pointed us to a table and said he would be right with us. That was the start of one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. The waiter never came to greet us at the table or get our drink orders. The bus boy finally felt sorry for us and asked if he could get us something to drink. We asked for water, which he quickly brought. I finally went to the bar and ordered two drinks. They were going to comp us the drinks but they were made wrong. It took over a half hour for our waiter to finally come take our order. We were irritated but went ahead and ordered. We were there to celebrate, so we decided try to make the best of it. It took a long time for the app to come. It was ok. By this time we had been sitting there for over 45 minutes. We had no utensils or napkins. We had to ask another waitress for napkins. When our entrees finally arrived they were not even hot. We had to ask for utensils after we got our food. By this time we were very upset. My wife was in tears and wanted to leave. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told that there wasn't one. The waiter got cocky with me so we left without eating. That is the most unwelcome and uncomfortable I have ever felt at a restaurant. We were really looking forward to eating there, and left very disappointed. I will definitely be telling every one I know not to go there.
Very good, I will be back, services were good,
Thanks Ethel
They don't put a lot on your plate. But what they put on your plate is hard to find in a lot of places
Food is always good here. Service was great. Very friendly and can't get a better view of the lake
My family and I evacuated from Lake Charles for the storm. And brought the children to the park but the restaurant was closed. It looks like a beautiful place to have lunch or dinner at one day on the water
On our way home from Baton Rouge one recent Sunday, my folks and I decided to visit the small town of New Roads to check out their lunch options and we discovered Morel s sitting right on the False River and we were immediately impressed with the location of this establishment. Upon entering, we were also satisfied with the medium noise level though the restaurant was nearly full. We were greeted by a friendly host and served by an adept, pleasant table server. Further, I enjoyed sweet tea which was very well-made, especially when I added lemons. I then ordered the Shrimp Napoleon dish which contains grilled shrimp wrapped in bacon on a bed of fried eggplant slices, mixed with grilled onions, sauce, and other ingredients. If it were possible, I would give this dish 30 stars as it was the best fried eggplant dish that I ve ever tasted. The shrimp were well-cooked, plump, and juicy, and the eggplant were plentiful, battered well, melted in my mouth, and blended scrumptiously with the other ingredients. Further, the flavor of the bacon not too crispy and not too soft added to my delight of the dish. Finally, this meal included a side of mashed potatoes, and I m telling you folks that I have never had mashed potatoes this tasty in my life. These potatoes tasted like they came straight from the garden and the mix of butter into the dish was perfect. Also, I m not sure of the other ingredients which were included with the potatoes but those mashed potatoes simply tasted fabulous! When finishing this extraordinary meal, I should have done my belly a favor and left right then, but I decided to try the chocolate caramel pie. But I m really glad I stayed because this pie tasted really good as well. I think the crust was graham cracker and it simply melted in my mouth. The filling was thick, creamy with a perfect mix of chocolate and caramel; it was simply an amazingly tasty dessert.
My parents also enjoyed their dishes as well, and we were all impressed with the friendly service from the wait and managerial staff. Further, we truly enjoyed the view of the river as we watched boats enter and leave the dock of the restaurant. We were also satisfied with the prices of a restaurant of this type. In fact, we were so pleased with this place that we returned the following Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed our meals again; my dad found the Pork Ribeye dish to be an excellent choice. If you ve never been to the clean-looking town of New Roads, we highly recommend that you visit this town and give this outstanding establishment a try. As of the writing of this review, the COVID policy here is that masks should be worn upon entering and leaving the restaurant but they can be removed upon being seated. We deeply thank all the managerial, meal-prep, and wait staff of Morel s for providing such excellent food and service.
Wonderful service, great food/selection and beautiful view.
Omg those two soft shell crabs is so perfect cook and taste best ever I had
The food is great, you dine on the lake. A fun place to eat.
Ate there once before and it was good...not so much yesterday. There was only one other table besides the 3 of us
The service was very slow and when we asked about our order the waitress said they had forgotten my husbands meal so it was delayed. In My order of steak salad the meat was very tough. It called for bacon...they were out so substituted imitation bacon which is extremely salty. I never send food back but she asked ..
I told. They were very apologetic and did not charge us for the salad. Guess it was a fluke and I will give them another try later!
Don't go. Save your money and go somewhere else. Took our table (4 people) an hour to get appetizers!! Food wasn't cooked all the way through.
As usual DELICIOUS!!! It's always a fantastic dinning experience .
The service was excellent. The food was ok but way over priced.
We went here for our anniversary. We aren't from this area, and had just left the Myrtles Plantation. The reviews are what sent us here, and they were pretty accurate. My husband and I got there about 8:30ish on a Friday. There was one other family there eating when we arrived. The waitress came over promptly. She was nice, and always had a smile on her face. The food was REALLY, REALLY awesome! For an appetizer, two entrees, a beer, martini, and dessert it came up to about $75. I did think it was expensive, but it was worth it.
Food was surprisingly good. However, there's was only like 5 tables with people and the service was ridiculously slow. The place needs a face lift too. Please get rid of the carpet! Smells old on there.
We should have read the reviews for Morels before eating there. As was said in previous reviews the service was terrible and wait time for our order was ridiculous. Our salads were brought out with the rest of our order. We asked the person that seated us why our order was taking so long and we were told there were so many takeout orders the kitchen couldn t keep up. We only saw one takeout order. When a person at the next table asked about a few items on the menu the busboy told her he didn t know anything about the menu. Since the restaurant has received multiple reviews relating to service & wait time you d think they might have corrected these issues.
Great view & great food! The onion rings are a must-order.
This place was awesome. The restaurant is like a houseboat. You dine on the water. The food was superb and our waitress was very attentive.
This place has fantastic food. I had the shrimp and it was so good. Good prices too
Excellent service , friendly atmosphere. Reasonably priced. Delicious food.
Love coming here for lunch. The food is always delicious in the staff is friendly.
1st time at this restaurant. The food was really good. Our server wasn't that great she forgot to bring out our salads had to ask for them and they were finally brought out after our main course was served. But the atmosphere was nice and the food was good...
I Love eating here but I had my little Dog. With me just walking out by the parking lot & little Park on the Lake meating friendly family's feeding the ducks from the wharf it's very relaxing. Gets one out of the home for awhile,,
Morel s is a must during any visit to Pointe Coupee Parish. A delightful atmosphere, creative menu and beautiful views.
Consistent, better than average quality, polite and courteous staff. Better than Satterfields and Hot Tails.
Went there for my anniversary. Was pointed to a table to sit at. Rude waiter, poor service, felt very unwelcome. Bus boy had to come ask if he could get us a drink since our waiter seemed to be ignoring us. He seemed more worried about the tip he would get from the bigger table. My husband had to go to the bar to order drinks, which were made wrong. Finally after about 45 minutes our waiter comes to take our order. He insisted taking both app and main course at the same time. It took forever to get the app. After almost an hour an a 1/2 of waiting for our food and it coming out cold and dried out and having to ask for items, we left. Your waiter lost out on a good tip. We have both worked in the restaurant industry. Won't be back. Next year we won't be celebrating our anniversary there again. it was a horrible experience.
The food was extremely delicious. Service was as good as it could be during the Pandemic. Drink were excellent, too. Prices are very reasonable.
Wonderful little seafood place we just happened upon when visiting The Myrtles that's on the False River. The crab cakes and sides were so good. I highly recommend it.
I always enjoy eating at this restaurant when in town.
Great food, better service!! Everything is fresh and cooked to order, and must get the creme brulee I never end a meal without it, very relaxing atmosphere
Food and service was outstanding. I highly recommend it.
Good food and great views over the water especially at sunset
I come here every year with my husband for our anniversary.
The food was very good, the prices reasonable, and the service top notch.
Delicious food, wonderful view of the lake, and very friendly staff.
Wonderful quiet stop off at the lake with a great atmosphere and good food and best of all the service is excellent
Absolutely, delicious.
Even allowed us to order from the dinner menu at lunch time
I thought Morel has a good menu and a good atmosphere. I would like a little more flavor in my food. Personally, if you put a restaurant in Louisiana it should have flavor and a little kick to it. Our staff was very friendly and personal.
Wonderful Resturant with great food, service and atmosphere! A must stop when visiting False River in New Roads, LA!
I was going to go here, but they don t want to take the time to put their prices on the menu or of their website for whatever reason, I do not understand this, but I am on a budget, so I don t want to take the chance of going there and not being able to afford anything.
I absolutely love eating at this restaurant! Service and food is always great, very clean, the waitresses are very nice and efficient! I even like the sway of the building being on water! Granted it's not very much but if you pay close attention you may feel it.
They were out of 3 items on the special mothers day menu. So ordered something else an they were out of part of that too but didn't come and inform me incase I wanted to substitute or change. They decided to sub for me!! Then it was way over priced for the quality of food!
I typically eat during lunch hours and always order from their special menu. Any fish or salad special is going to be very good. The staff is always on point.
Great food with an amazing view. You will not be disappointed.
We live by good restaurants in Lake Charles, but always enjoy Morel's when we visit here. The food is excellent and the menu is very creative.
Good food, good atmosphere. Dont go here if you get motion sickness easily though as it is a floating dock.
The food was great and the customer service with a great too.
