Great short walk trails and nice vistas. Wild Turkey's are majestic. Only detractor is location next to the freeway which spoils the solitude.

Today it was a beautiful day a very beautiful day to be at the Minnesota National Wildlife Refuge the turkeys were putting on quite a show today.
Great trails in the Minnesota River bottoms. We were lucky enough to encounter a flock of swans and a golden eagle on our hike. The trails were very busy on a beautiful November day.
Great place to go for a walk with your family! In the summer, there s a lot of bicyclists and families walking on their trails. It also looks very beautiful if you go in the fall. Of note, you can hear planes flying by cuz it s pretty close to an airport.
Lovely trails for biking, running, and hiking. The visitors center is currently closed due to Covid. The trails are dirt and sand. One you are in the river valley, the trails are flat and follow the river. The trails have curves and the landscape changes, so the trails don't get boring.
The visitor center was SO NICE. Tons of mini exhibits for kids and adults. A cute little store too. Oh, and the best part...when you walk in there is a fireplace to your left with a little couch area to rest. The husband didnt want to get up. You can walk through and head out to the overlook and bird feeding area. There were so many species of birds but the turkeys were extra hilarious to watch. A+ to this center and refuge.
Very quiet when I get here since it is before and during . I really like walking here calmly !!
The Hillside trail is a great, short hike. Throughout the path, there are sitting areas if you need to take a break. It had a pretty steep incline, however, if you take your time and enjoy the nature surrounding you, it's not bad at all. Make sure to wear a good pair of hiking shoes as the trails are gravel.
Nice place to go and relax. Although I haven't hiked much, this place is beautiful in the summer. I would recommend going to this place in the summer when the trees are lush and beautiful!! There is a lot to explore in this place.
Had a great afternoon there with the kiddos. They had created a fun scavenger hunt type event. They created a bat cave and the kids got to make bat houses. Super fun and educational.
