As the seat of the then Ministry of War of the Kingdom of Italy, the Army Palace in via XX Settembre was originally built in 1876, which since then has always housed the Army General Staff.
Already a few years later (1884-6), however, two other adjacent buildings were erected: Palazzo Caprara and Palazzo Baracchini, built in the same period and designed by the same architect Giulio Podesti, therefore in stylistic unity between them. Palazzo Caprara housed the defense staff, which was also transferred to the Army Palace in 2017.
Palazzo Caprara and Baracchini passed into use by the Ministry of War in 1940, due to the increased war requirements. The department, after the end of World War II and the establishment of the Republic, in 1947 changed its name to the Ministry of Defense, which it still maintains today.

The ministry district in Rome is also a pleasant place to walk, parks and gardens are welcoming and bring a little relaxing freshness after a long visit to the heat wave.

Valuable complex as the building realities in this area are valuable. Here everything is shiny and untouched, from the streets to the squares, the green areas are lush and well cared for.
