Red velvet waffle was delishh, service was quick, small but clean location and the "eat to heal" flavor inspired by Dr Sebi is a must try!
The Mac daddy was delicious. Got it with the Brady brunch ice cream flavor. Good size and tasty.
I was really looking forward to supporting this black owned business to be disappointed. My hope is that they didn't have a lot of flavors because they sold them out. The flavor I got, I really didn't want but coming out of town I wanted to play my part. The young man working also decided to mop the floor while we were enjoying the ice cream we did purchase. I'll say that it was really good. I can only do 3 because if service.
Fun and inventive ice cream flavors! You can't miss the red velvet waffle ice cream sandwiches! I don't think people should be allowed to make waffles any other way. It's a small venue so don't expect to sit and enjoys your dessert. I think there were only two chairs. Friendly staff, though. They'll show you a good time.
Hot summer night? Ice cream is about the only thing that will make me forget that it is so dang humid out!!! I have been a bit disappointed with the hard ice cream I have had so far in NYC ( Salt & Straw & Ruby Jewel in PDX has spoiled me). But then I noticed Mikey's was just a short walk from my digs and I love the old fashion ice cream uniform in the photo so I figured it was worth a try. Bingo!, finally some rich creamy hard ice cream that I had been earning for. I had the waffle cone ( a must for me if they are freshly made) with a scoop of Foxy Brown and a scoop of Southern Comfort. Both had well blended flavors without being overwhelming and sweet with generous portions. Can't wait to go back and try more flavors and some of the waffle treats.
Love the Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream! Lines are sometimes long and reach outside the door. The line is mostly for the ice cream parlor instead of the actual restaurant.
Some of my favorite ice cream in NYC. The staff is very friendly, occasionally they have ice cream with alcohol in it. The flavors are zany, but still delicious. It's also not offensively expensive.
The reason I m fat lol. Mikeys is the bomb forreal. I m glad he came to the hood.
The root beer float (Milli Vanilli) is massive for $8! You get the entire can of root beer as well. Ice Ice Baby tastes amazing in the float. The taste is slightly reminiscent of Haagen Dazs with some other vanilla beans. My friend got a double scoop cup of pumpkin spice and Foxy Brown. The scoops were very generous and the pumpkin spice was spot on. The place is very tiny with just a corner bar and two or three stools, so it's not ideal to hang around inside. They have a small bench right outside though. Cards are accepted and there isn't a minimum. Overall, their portions are generous, flavors are delicious, and staff are friendly. Definitely warrants another trip or two!
Place is out of the way and has great custom made ice cream flavors. Be sure to ask what they have not posted always will find something new.
Took the mint, was quite unusual. Milder mint taste than most ice creams. It was good though.
Creamy, tasty, and awesome staff. Highly recommend!
Best ice cream on the planet!!! Try the Southern Hospitality !!!! It will rock your world!!!
Fresh flavors
Mint - tastes like real mint, you can taste the greenery!
They have Belgium waffles made to order to go with your ice cream too.
It's a small place - just seating for 2-3 by the window.
Amazing tasting ice cream. Great selection flavors, made with very wholesome ingredients. Cool shop and fair prices, family friendly, worth a visit for sure!
The design of the ice cream shop was pretty unique. We went later in the day so they were out of a lot of flavors. Everyone who work there was really friendly and they won't let us try a lot of the ice creams. We got the chocolate one, the mint condition, and the drago. The chocolate one wasn't as heavy as a lot of chocolate ice creams but was delicious with three type of chocolates. The mint condition tasted like actual mint and not the fake minty flavoring. The Drago had Caramel ice cream with red velvet cake pieces and some nuts and coconut. It was really good and super tasty. Also it looks like you can get freshly made waffles with your ice cream! Yum
Check out the super cool clock on the wall.
Love the creative flavors and smooth creamy texture. Loved the foxy brown- mocha with chocolate wafer cookies and and sea salt caramel swirl. Definitely will be back to try more!!!
Unreal flavors and reasonable prices. Mikey is an ice cream wizard.
Great ice cream! Kids Love it - and the flavors are super creative and delicious. Congrats to Mikey and much success
For all the hype it's not good ice cream but they're friendly.
Great ice cream, all of the flavors are Hip hop or R&B themed
Super creamy ice cream with premium ingredients and outstanding original pop culture inspired flavors. My favorite ice cream spot hands down.
One of the best and most inventive ice cream shops in NY. A great pay-it-forward place opened by an ex-con. Monthly flavors sell out quickly.
SO GOOD. The mac daddy ice cream waffle-wich is absolutely worth the calories. There are different flavours for the waffles and ice cream and great seasonal flavours too! A little shop with a few high stools, unassuming but a hidden gem
Best ice cream in the city! Always a new flavor to try and love.
I love this place my favorite is the Foxy brown flavor ice cream.
Their ice cream is really good. I usually get the Mac Daddy. I pay the extra fee for the red velvet flavored waffle. But the Mac Daddy is half a Belgian waffle with your choice of ice cream in between. I just wish that the only location for single serve wasn't all the way downtown. I was told that the location in Harlem was switched to become the place where you can purchase their ice cream wholesale.
As some of the other reviewers, I wanted to support this local, Black business as I read an article about it in the winter and decided to give them a try yesterday on my birthday (8/26). I was very moved by the description of the owner and his vision!! I was highly disappointed, however. The service was very slow to start. There was one young man working who got on the phone to call someone and let them know that "he doesn't usually work there, he's alone and doesn't know where nothing is", while still trying to handle clients. I felt his pain however this was a conversation to be had in the back room, not in front of willing customers. Secondly, money handling and serving the desserts with ungloved hands was a turn off. Coming all the way from Queens, I toughed it out, I had come to far to turn back now, lol. Lastly, I opted for the $5 single scoop and it was the most pathetic single scoop I'd ever gotten. The ice cream itself was tasty but I will never pay $5 for a measly scoop like that. It was as if the young man was focused on his pressing matter, which again I understood, but if you choose to stay open and take our money, I expect better service and a healthier scoop. I don't think I will travel from Queens again to visit this place, but if Im in the area, maybe I'll pass by and peep the scene and if it's looking proper I'll try once more.
Such unique and great flavor combos man! Been coming here for a couple years now and Everytime I find a new ice cream shop, I just always seem to get drawn back to Mikey's
So simple and yet so delicious! Super nice staff, too!
Must have more Mikey's! Stop in and support this small ice cream shop. The ice cream is amazing and the flavors are unique. So glad I chose to get dessert here.
I'm obsessed. There was a week a couple months ago that I went here 4 nights in a row. It's next-level.
The best ice cream I have ever had! I live in dallas, and I am constantly checking to see if they will open a location here. During my NYC trip, I stayed in the upper east side, and I took a taxi and subway just to find it. It took about an hour to find it in the hustle and bustle of New York, but it was worth every second. The people were so nice, and the ice cream was unimaginably good. I had red velvet and strawberry cheesecake and they are still engraved in my brain how good they were. I give mikey likes it a 15/10!
Some of the best ice cream I've ever had. The Pink Floyd is the truth!
Southern Hospitality, Foxy Brown, Brady Bunch and the list goes on of delicious curated ice creams infused with a touch of pop culture.
I'm here once a week. This is by far my favorite spot to bring clients or a date to. Mikey is one of the coolest people to talk to, and is always trying to get you to sample his newest flavors. I always get the Pink Floyd, which is Strawberry ice cream blended with cheesecake. Check them out if you're in the neighborhood.
I had a chocolate with marshmallow I felt they bought cheap sugary ice cream and mixed it to rebrand it as something higher quality. Also i don't need to be reminded by the employee to tip, I know how modern point of sale systems work.
Friendly service otherwise.
THE BEST ICE CREAM IN THE AREA!!! every month is a new flavor so dont miss out. Mikey is usually there, and is very nice.
Mike just saved the day! Seriously first class ice cream.
This place is great! The service is an A+,the ice cream is an A++,and the red velvet waffles are an A+++. I went even though it was cold in New York I will be returning !!!!
Was brought here by a friend on my trip to NYC. Awesome little East Village ice cream shop serving up hip-hop and pop culture-inspired flavors. Friendly owner/staff, good vibes and delicious ice cream. I'll be sure to pass by here again next time I'm in the Big Apple.
Just had the "Brady Bunch" and WOW...you really can't compare this to anything else...this place and their ice creams are truly unique
My husband and I went to seek out the best black owned Ice cream shop in nyc...and the critics weren't wrong. Ice cream is pricey but well worth it. Sometimes you gotta treat ur self. Great friendly staff, great vibes!
This little ice-cream parlor is everything you want out of a local neighborhood ice-cream place. Very friendly service, great taste, and the smell of a passionate owner focussed on the essentials, with heart for the neighborhood. Great flavour of the month options and very funny pun style naming.
Place to come for great food and ICE CREAM in Mikey Likes It Ice Cream . Always busy here but the small wait is worth it. Treat Yourself.
Wow! What an amazing place--had the flavor of the day which was a kind of berry-ice-thing that was also *spicy*!
If you are in the mood for ice cream and want a variety of toppings and ice cream then this will satisfy you!
The ice cream is delicious and the service is on point - what else could you ask for? I loved reading the articles on the wall explaining the history of this quaint little ice cream shop on New York s east side. Mikey s friendly demeanour and humility make the experience all the more worthwhile. It made me proud to support this local business.
It's yummy creative and it's local to where I live and I love it
the guys and gals who work here are the freaking coolest people I've ever met
Delicious throwback flavors! The single is more than enough for me, but really dying to try the ice cream sandwiches in the future. Happy and efficient staff and well air conditioned.. Great, especially when competitors have lines down the block.
Delicious ice cream, amazing texture, super nice staff
Great ice cream and even better staff! Great all around!
Southern Hospitality is the way to go. IT ALWAYS RUNS OUT
This score is based on the fact that I learned that unless you tip in cash the electronic tip goes directly to management not the employees. What kind of a local business is that? Ice cream is great not but worth $10 for a double scoop.
Homemade ice cream by Mikey himself, who's a really cool guy by the way! He's got a big heart, loves his community, and has a great story - chat with him if he's there when you stop by! Every flavor is amazing - and the red velvet waffles... I mean come on, red. Velvet. Waffles. Come on. Try them all!
Incredible ice cream flavors and an even better attitude. I never want to go anywhere else in the neighborhood for ice cream.
Do not come here if you want a healthy dessert (if that even exists).
However, if you're in the mood for a decadent dessert this is the place.
The ice cream here is ridiculous, and you can order a Mac daddy which is essentially an ice cream sandwich with freshly made waffles...
Forget about it. It's ridiculous! And sooooo good.
Delish! They even gave me an extra scoop because i had to wait a while. I got red velvet waffle with apple pie ice cream. I was so happy.
One of my absolute FAVORITE places!!! The Foxy Brown is delicious and my go to ice cream, although you should always ask to sample the other flavors or the current flavor of the month. Adding a waffle is always a great idea too
Never disappoints.
Original and delicious... on popular nights they can run out of flavors but this is a good thing (explore something else)!
Best ice cream in east village. Unique flavor combinations.
Great place. Staff is wonderful. Friendly and super helpful. The ice cream is delicious. If you're in the area and want ice cream, it's more than a solid place, it's a go to.
So excited this place is still open. Best ice cream in the city. Ask for the Peach Cobbler, it's amazing.
The best dairy free/ vegan ice cream I ve ever had. Perfect with their waffle. Can t wait to have more
Came after 10pm. Most of the popular flavors were sold out. The remaining flavors were half melted. The staff doesn't give consistent scoop sizes. The quality of the ice cream is good though.
Amazing customer service and they have a wide range of delicious ice creams. I'm definitely coming back
Amazing !!! The girls were very helpful in giving up their opinions on what to pair together.. Will def be returning for another Mac daddy !!!
Nice flavors. Good for your sudden ice cream cravings.
Bangin ice cream flavors & combos w/ funny playful names. Named after famous artists. Staff is friendly & helpful. YUM!
Delicious, unique flavours. Would particularly recommend the red velvet waffle sandwich!
