Mike and Haley and thier staff are wonderful people. I was in a wheelchair for a while. They helped me via music, what I remembered and new.
I am related to the Carter family (yes, think about it). Nashville and Memphis et al supports them. I love me some mike's music out of ellicott city, md.

My daughters have been taking lessons at Mike's Music for six years, and between the two of them they have studied violin, mandolin, piano, voice, guitar, and even played electric violin in a rock band (competing in the Battle of the Bands at the Hard Rock Cafe in Baltimore was incredible).
We've worked with various teachers over the years, from a fiddler who went off to Nashville and became famous (look up Patrick McAvinue) who taught my 6 year old to love the violin and add a mandolin, to talented guitarists and pianists, to a violinist who clearly loves his craft and his students.
Organizing the whole school are Mike and Haley Gordon who are kind, passionate, and inspiring people. Parents in the community, they have found a way to employ young people who actually care and work hard to provide excellent service to every customer.
Mike's Music is also a great source to buy instruments and music-related gifts. We are thankful to live close by this business that is an anchor in the community.
Purchased an acoustic guitar, gig back, and mic. Employees were courteous, helpful, and professional. No complaints. Prices were good. I would go back.

It is all about greed and money. They have a very unfair makeup/cancelation policy. So if class falls on a holiday ( Ex. July 4th) and the center is closed, they still charge you for the class, . They do not pay the teachers for that day either, so free money for them. According to their policy it is up to the costumer to schedule a make up. However, the teachers are all always fully booked. It is almost impossible to schedule a make up class. Their solution: They offer substitutes. But they are missing the point, after working with a teacher for many years, I don't need a stranger who has never met my child nor know anything about his progress hanging out with him for 30 minutes. I don't call that a "make up " class. That is just a waste of time and money.
Also their parking sucks.
Bottom line: I don't recommend them, Mike and his wife are greedy people.

A friend of my recommended me to your store. Had read great reviews. Unfortunately, I visited when you were away.Spoke with your brother; not so cordial. I was selling a saxophone and he quoted a ridiculous price that was insulting. So sorry I missed you, have heard great things about you. Your brother not so much.
Mike is a wonderful musican, businessman and member of the community. He runs his shop like he runs his life - full of integrity, humor and honesty. Buy from this store - you are getting the best service from a great store owner and staff. Seriously. You'll be glad you did!
Made this "old" beginner welcome. I didn't get names but nice young woman restringed my guitar in 10 min (my attempt failed) and found a beautiful PRS

Easily one of the most well run stores and programs in town. Great selection, amazing staff, and an important part of the community! Their lesson program is unmatched and works very hard to create opportunities for kids. The retail shop has added some well known lines over the last few years and keeps growing. Mike and Haley are awesome and so is the staff, definitely stop by next time you're in the area!
My kids and i have been taking lessons for 9 years (!) there. The staff are very friendly, professional, and accommodating. The music teachers are very talented, patient, and creative. The owners are honest, fair, and kind. We're so grateful to have such a resource to not only support our love of the arts, but to elevate this passion. Definitely recommend, and I've done so for many friends who have also been pleased.
Mike's Music is an absolutely wonderful establishment that cares for the learning and musical development of their students. I have 3 children all of whom started their musical journey at Mikes Music. We have been patrons for more than 7 years and have had nothing but wonderful experiences along the way. They're consistently accommodating and affable. I've never had a negative experience with anyone working here, they're all really nice. I've been taking voice lessons for a few years now, and it's the best place I've ever taken lessons. Even now, when the world is on lockdown, they've been exceedingly helpful and courteous with setting up socially distanced lessons.
Terrible experience with a voice teacher who was very condescending and narcissistic when I nicely questioned her on a music selection. I couldn t believe my ears at the things this woman said to me and how she spoke to me. At this point the issue was no longer song selection but really the way this woman treated me. We complained to the owners, but they simply said sorry you feel this way and totally backed her up. My son was there for 2 months and got nothing out of it. We found a great place nearby and in just a couple of lessons I can totally see the improvement. Save your money, don t go to this place!

I visited this shop for the first time last week. The store was very clean and organized with a great selection of products. The sales associates were very helpful and friendly as well. I was able to test out the products I was interested in and browse for a little while. A few days later I emailed the shop with some questions, which they responded to very quickly. I was able get the assistance I needed and make my purchase easily through the website. Mikes Music has earned my business for the foreseeable future and I highly recommend them.

Love this place! My son has been taking trumpet lessons at Mike s for about 9 months now and he absolutely loves it. I would give 10 stars if I could and right next to a Dunkin Donuts too. Actually that s probably not the best thing for me. Haha
My sister says five stars, my dad, 4. Dad says four stars because its a bit pricey. My sister says five stars because she's not paying and... "The staff is really nice and caring, you really learn from their lessons. The WiFi is great too." For me, I really enjoy the WiFi and seating area where I watch ratatouille.

Inaccurate store hours placed. Went to return a rental on the 1st, they person there didn't know what to do, said to come back and we wouldn't be charged another month. It was a holiday and they were closed, so I came in the day after the holiday and they charged me for a whole month! Even though they told me to come back and then they were closed. Rude to, whenever I called with a question. Not helpful.
Great place staff is always helpful. Place is always buzzing with students coming and going to music lessons.
