Mike's Crabhouse Review

The atmosphere is great.
My only gripe is the service. They seemed to be short of staff, which caused us to wait longer than we were told. The other thing I didn t particularly like was the establishment having 12 year olds run the hostess station.

Mike's is know for its seafood, especially crab. It is one of the few places in Annapolis where you can get crab year round. Outside of Maryland crab season they get their crab from other states. It is still fresh and delicious. However, I do encourage you to sample Maryland crabs. This is a busy place during the summer months so plan to arrive early or be prepared to wait a while. They may take reservations for large parties. As I go solo or with a small party, I prefer sitting at the bar. I get a view of the creek from there and can order from the full menu. There is an outdoor deck that allows for a relaxing dining experience. If you are waiting, it is a great place for pictures. Some guests arrive by boat as there is a docking pier right at the restaurant. It's good to have friends who own a boat if you don't. If you arrive by car be forewarned that parking during the summer crab season is tough so you might consider carpooling if meeting friends. As for the food, I love the salad bar as it has fresh seasonal greens and veggies and is not so big you lose yourself trying to build a better salad. I have sampled all of their seafood and absolutely love the various ways it is offered in terms of preparation. Their crabs are a nice size but cost a little more than I like to pay. However, when out of town guests are in town, this is where I take them for a taste of mid-atlantic seafood. They also offer a nice selection of beer, which is a must have with crabs, wine, and mixed drinks. Also, visit their store which is right beside the restaurant. Overall, a nice place to eat in and out of crab season.

Standard crab house, but nice location on the water. Wife enjoyed her crabs, I had the ribs which were solid.

Great atmosphere overlooking the water with outdoor and indoor bars. Also, there is plenty of outdoor seating if you prefer to eat your crabs outside. The wait can be very long to sit down and eat. They do not take reservations. Crabs are overpriced. Drinks are reasonable and quite strong. The food is average if you aren't getting fresh crabs/seafood. It's a great place to hang out, drink and eat crabs.

My husband and I are there for the first time yesterday. The food and service were superb! We started with the mushrooms stuffed with a lot of crabmeat covered in melted cheese. He had the shrimp salad sandwich with big potato slices, the shrimp were big and delicious. I had the haddock sandwich with fried potato slices. I'm originally from NY and it's difficult to get haddock in restaurants down here, but wow, the piece of haddock was huge, fried to perfection and delicious!
We sat outside by the water and it was a real treat. We will definitely be back.
Kudos to our waiter Jeff, very attentive, a real nice waiter.

Went for lunch as a spur of the moment thing. Darren was our waiter and he was excellent. He was personable, attentive and remembered our entire order from drinks, apps and our entrees without writing it down. We ordered a cup of cream of crab soup and Md style crab and both were good. We each had a trip to the salad bar which was nothing special. Our food was a fried seafood platter and the special was Hake with spinach and was delicious!! I would of gave 5 stars but the shrimp in the seafood platter were waaay overcooked, other than that - it was great!! Good job, Darren!!

Good food but everyone at my table didn't get their food at the same time, some food was cold. The manager did give us a small discount but I don't think I'll be going back.

This was fantastic place to eat on Mother's day. The only drawback was the wait. But it was to be expected on Mother's day when everybody that placed their name on the list was a group of 6 plus people. 3+ hours is crazy. The food was very good. The casino clams were delicious. The crabs were beautifully sized with big ol claws. The wings were warm and the steak and crab cake was perfection. They don't serve shrimp by the pound which I thought was weird but those were also good, ordered 18. The scenery was very pretty right on the water. Haley was our server and was on par but did not exceed expectations.

I went with a large group and they were very accommodating. We were seated quickly and the service was good. The food was awesome and the cream cakes were generous portions. Get the crab imperial stuffed mushrooms appetizer, it was a crowd pleaser.

Try the cream of crab soup. We make a pilgrimage to Mike's from Indiana just for the soup. ;)

Not like it used to be. No Keno allowed on weekends. Brought me bacon wrapped beef, when I ordered scallops. Acted like it was my fault.....pretty expensive for lunch. Food is still good though.

Great for groups! Don't waste your time on medium crabs, but get crab cakes instead.

Appetizer and dinner was very good and the service and prices were excellent. We will definitely go back the next time we go to Annapolis.

I ask for Rockfish since I have heard such good things but I have never had it. Waiter praised it. 10 minutes later says they are out. Didnt bring me a menu to reselect, just stumbled through what else they have. I figured you can't screw up cod, so I ordered it. Wrong. The most bland piece of fish you could imagine. No spices, just plain bland baked no taste cod. Waiter was horrible. I had to flag him down to get a refills. Told him how bad the fish was he told the manager, never once did anybody ask if it should be recooked or if I wanted something to go with it. I ask for tartar sauce, they brought me mayonnaise. I helped to people at the next table who had never had blue crabs before, and the manager said to me that he opens his crabs the same way. Never did he ask about my meal. I was back in the area this weekend and I drove right past Mike's and went to the chinese buffet. They had better seafood.

Fast and pleasant service. The meal was awesome and I hate i didnt have leftovers like the rest of my party.

The food is great there; that would explain the ever-present lonnnng waiting line for a table.

This is the first time i am here and i love this place..... awesome food specially crabs and shrimp.... all of their people are really friendly and nice......... and last of all food here is affordable and fresh .......... will recommend to all my friends and family

Phenomenal crabs! The spice was perfect. We also had a pitcher of beer which isn t on the menu, but the waitress found a pitcher for us. Crabs were big too for Large. I was pleasantly full after six crab. This is a great spot to chill by the water and eat crabs in the Summer!

The wait was a little long 45 min. But it was none stop people going in and out on a Friday afternoon and the crabs and food was delicious. I would go again and take my family. The outside view was gorgeous and beautiful seeing the boats ride around in the water

The food was good yet some servers needs personality!!! Learn certain customer sever phrases when dealing with adverse situations.

Crabs ! Eat all the crabs. Seriously. Perfectly made, perfectly put together, and the perfect overall temperature. Mediocre wine selection considering the markup but as a whole thoroughly enjoyable. Also a fantastic appetizer? The seared ahi tuna. No joke.

Friendly environment waiters were great and the food was excellent.

Double whammy of good seafood and a great, riverside setting. Indoor & outdoor seating available, depending on the weather. Call ahead on holidays & weekends, 'cause you may not be able to get in with less than a 90min wait without a reservation.

I don't care what you prefer from here. It's always really good. Customer service is never a problem and your food comes out in a timely manner

The jumbo crabs were cooked to perfection. My taste buds do not lie.

I do my happy dance everytime my husband and I visit Mike's. Everything is mouthwatering delicious and keeps you coming back for more!

The large crabs are huge I always get a half a dozen and go home with about 3 or 4 crabs because I be so full from 2 or 3 crabs because they are so huge and the flavor is good as well. The price is worth it for the size crabs you get.

When I've been numerous times with a large group, the servers always seem less than thrilled.

The food is very tasty but we were a part of a large group celebrating a birthday so I didn't like that each table was put on one check as opposed to receiving a check for your own order. I ended up paying almost $20 more than I should have for my $22 meal, my son's $8 meal and two $2.50 drinks. Even with the 18% gratuity, food and regular taxes, I shouldn't have paid $53.

Service & food were both excellent. Great recommendation on food from our waiter, Zach. And no hard time about splitting a 7 person check. Highly recommend - ask for Zach!

This spot is worth giving a shot. They serve large portions for convenient prices. Always well kept and with good atmosphere. Will come back again.

Great seafood dive! Dining on the deck is incredible! If you're from out of town, this is a great place to come for local flavor!

Fresh crabs, cold drinks and friendly staff made for a great evening.

Many things are good BUT not the crab cakes, They were horrible. A good waiter can make this place better but the majority here aren't.

Good Food and decent service. It happened to be raining the day we visited, but I think the views normally would be excellent. If you love seafood, this is the place for you!

Love Seafood! And this is the place where you can satisfy your cravings. The price is high but the portions given makes the price justifiable. Could not give it 5 stars because during winter time, I recommend you call first especially if you want crabs. It's possible by midday they may not have anymore crabs. But Great service, family friendly and has a Great view.

The place is great for crabs on the the deck overlooking the water.. They have boat docking so you can get there by boat also.. Service is a little slow and stick with the crabs, the other food is just so so..

Sat at my table for 25 minutes and was never waited on....not even a glass of water. I walked out. Terrible service.

My co-workers and I come here for a quick bite and drinks after work...and usually service is on point!!! BUT tonight we sat inside at the bar and our bartender Mary had a major attitude from jump!! Not sure what her issue was, but the 5 of us were nothing but cordial, however, she was short, curt, and just unfriendly. She made us decide to take our corporate outings to other local venues instead of Mike's. Usually I leave a 20% tip, but her service was such that I was hard pressed to leave her $5, but I did, because I don't believe in NOT TIPPING...but people who give horrible service deserve no tip.

Happy hour with co-workers turned into a night of great fun and laughter. Everything we ordered was a hit, crab balls with NO filler, crab dip with just the right amount of cream cheese cheese lump crab meat and artichoke amazing! The scallops wrapped in bacon cooked to Perfection, calamari really sweet and great proportions and I haven't had mozzarella sticks in so long that these won't always be on the menu when the group of us get together and go out. You cannot go wrong sipping orange crushes on the water with great company!

Great food and service!! Loved the crab cakes, cream of crab soup and the mushroom caps. Great relaxed environment on the water. Will be coming back when it s warm to dine outside.

I had a chance to host this place while spending my vacation in the USA and, concluding, I can say that it is a great place above the bay that adds charm to this restaurant. Tasty food, extensive menu and great service. I hope that one day I will have the opportunity to go there

If you are coming for outdoor waterfront atmosphere, this is the place. Inside, the decor is tired and in desperate need of an update. If you come May - September, be prepared to wait for a table. The food is on average, mediocre. Sometimes they knock it out of the park, other times, not good. I guess it depends on who is in the kitchen.
