Rino and Zara were very helpful, professional, and kind. I first reached out to Rino on a Sunday--he has a few of his cell phones listed in his signature, and he responded! We then worked very quickly and were able to collaborate with our bank to close a few days later. On that day we went into the office for our appointment and something came up where we had to wait for the bank to make a change. Zara told us that it'd take a while, so to just go home. We later got a text from Zara saying she was outside, like outside our house, with our paperwork, ready to sign. She saved us a trip, and a lot of time--both my wife and I really appreciated Michaels Title & Escrow's great customer service and kindness.

My first experience with Michaels was to drop off ...

My first experience with Michaels was to drop off an EMD check. I showed up at their opening time and waited 25 minutes before anyone showed up. I was greeted by a stare and later a may I help you. So I explained I was dropping off a check and turned it into a closing manager to which she apologized no one was there to open. I stayed with Michaels because my realtor asked me to and I figured this was a one-time thing as my realtor explained. Before closing I was submitted instructions for online documents and later documents to print out and turn in to Michaels. I was confused as the documents where the same and requested information to which I got the run around until finally someone told me to ignore the second instructions for turning in paper documents. When it came to closing we started a bit late so at this point I understand punctuality means nothing here. The representative immediately complained of how busy they were before saying that is why we were running late. During the process I asked questions one of which was to the deed transfer where I asked if my spouse needed to sign because her name was not on the document. The answer from the rep was no. After continually telling us we should not be receiving any money back because it is not usual (something I found weird to repeat several times). We finished closing and two weeks later I get an email chain of the deed transfer was rejected. Needing to understand what is going on I ask both Michaels and the loan officer/ company what is going on to which I get the run around to Michaels. Eventually, I call and am told I need to show up to Michaels office and sign more documents. I am unable to make it and finally get Michaels to mail me documents for signature and they provide a return envelope. I submit the documents, Michael s contacts me as to when they will receive the documents and later the documents I sent are returned to my house as the return slip was entered incorrect. At this point, my wife takes off work to turn in the documents. To this point the front desk person takes the documents says nothing and leaves to the back. The customer service and attention to detail is absolutely sub par. I have dealt with one other title company, GPN title, which was above and beyond considering the experiences I have had with Michael s. I honestly wish I could give Michaels 0 stars.

I am working with Michaels Team from last few years. They have excellent team of professionals, who are always responsive and takes care real estate settlement from start to finish without any hassle. I highly recommend their services.

I refinanced my home with Michaels Title. The staff was very knowledgeable and professional and my closing was smooth. All checks were cut and paid in a timely fashion. I would definitely recommend them and use them again.

My husband and I just used Michael's Title and Escrow. Rino and Zara made the experience really enjoyable and convenient. We realized after showing up to sign that we would need to make changes to the documents and they coordinate d meeting up with us so we could still sign our paperwork the same day. Very professional team, highly recommend them!

Worst Title Company I ever worked with, I represen...

Worst Title Company I ever worked with, I represented the sellers. They did not disburse funds at settlement. They were supposed to wire transfer funds to another title company so my individual sellers could purchase new homes and it took them 5 hours to wire the money. Two transactions almost blew up. The worst part is they truly did not care, would not call me back. I had to get the original buyers' lender involved. Shady company!

We received great service closing on an investment...

We received great service closing on an investment property! The staff was very accommodating and prompt. Closing went smoothly and on time.
They also took care of the contract so the seller didn't have to pay 6% of the sale for a realtor, for a fraction of the price. Next time I'm selling a property, this is the firm I will use to save major bucks!

My sellers just closed with Michaels. As Virginia is a "buyer selects title" state, their buyers chose Michaels and we didn't know what to expect. James was a fantastic, organized, responsive processor for the file. But what I really wanted to comment on was a "when the chips are down" moment - when we experienced an issue with the buyers' buyers' transaction with a separate title company. Once the issue was acknowledged, manager Rino made phone calls, put an action plan in place, escalated as necessary to gain visibility on the issue...and lo and behold...everything fell into place within 24 hours. All title companies more or less perform similar, regulated functions - but it's when you run into an issue that performance counts. It did for my clients with Michaels Title.

They forgot to transfer the water account from pre...

They forgot to transfer the water account from previous owner at the time of closing. The water account was transferred more than a month later. And they charged me for the water bill from the previous owner. They even not provide the detailed bill.

BEWARE: Listing agents and seller beware if a buye...

BEWARE: Listing agents and seller beware if a buyer or buyers agent is using this title company. 90 days after closing, and this company has refused to issue a commission check. When I attempt to file an E&O insurance claim, I have found that you can not file a claim without the insured consent. So the only way to get them to correct their mistake is sue them. This is a rather small commission check, so I am guessing that is part of their plan, assuming someone will not spend the money to sue.

When you ask them about this mistake, funny how their story changes over time, and when you confront them with the lies theyve told, with email evidence, they just shrug their shoulder.

Edit: This company threatened to file an ethics complaint against me when I confronted them with their lies, and all in black in white in emails. They were especially angry when I pointed out that 2 emails they sent 1 hour apart said opposite things...they cant even keep their story straight for a full hour without lying.
I certainly wont bow to intimidation.

They are tardy with responses to your questions. Communication is not their forte. Also, too much dependence on individual people. They are unable to collaborate and help us out. Their paperwork isn't the best either.

This company charged me as the seller an outrageou...

This company charged me as the seller an outrageous amount of money and the buyer paid much more than average as well. They charged us each $195 for FedEx which is outrageous. They also delayed closing twice because they were not prepared. There are many more companies that are more professional and ethical. Buyers, price out settlement company fees before choosing one, they are not all the same, some charge much less and will do a better job.
