The worst transportation system in the United States. It stinks literally and metaphorically. The personnel is idiotic and grumpy. It is like the only way of communication they know is being yelled at. If trains are not out of service, they are delayed or the routes are changed. It is like they try hard to get worse everyday.
The New York metro is the worst. The trains are never on time, the ride between destinations takes longer than planned, the whole system is hard to understand if you're not familiar with it and there's a lot of construction going on which will leave you really confused, especially on weekends. All of the stations are old and dirty, the elevators are not only dirty, they are scary! And most of the stations don't have escalators.
Passed right bye. Pretend to barely stop and then when I'm moving from the bus stop seat just honks briefly and rushes off. There's so few buses now because everyone is vacant right. Doubt that you are late for your next stop. Oh and don't edit this Review.
I called in to to find out what I had to do to fix a failed cash transaction at one of the machines where they took my money. The customer service person was RUDE when exclaiming that she had explained everything to me when I proceeded to ask her more questions just to make sure because this had never happened to me before. I observed the rudeness and told her I would call back to speak with another customer service representative. Horrible HR (hiring) work on behalf of the mta. I see why the ratings are so low. Its a shame the government is partnered with them.
My experience with the NYC MTA is horrible for starters, I don't understand why the MTA says the fare for the subway is $2.25 when reality you can't buy that on the vending machine. It costs $2.50 for a single ride. My real question where is the other 25 cents going too. Personally that is misleading. What get's me is that when you go to the station booth (formally known the token booth) you have to have a minimum $5 for them even want to issue a metro card.
Really good way to get around NYC, trains run constantly and stops are conveniently located around NY I would recommend getting the metro pass if you are planning on doing more than 10 trips, its 2.75 a trip as of April 2013 and a metro pass for the week is 30. And you also get acces to the buses.
HOW IS IT THAT I GET TO MY STATION (D TRAIN) THE SAME TIME EVERYDAY (5AM), BUT I GET TO WORK A DIFFERENT TIME EVERYDAY. THE FIRST TRAIN IS SCHEDULED @5:11AM, IT'S A 55 MIN TRAVEL (WHEN ON TIME) SO EVEN IF ITS ON SCHEDULE IM AT LEAST 10 MIN LATE. MONDAY IS THE ONLY DAY IT'S ON TIME, EVERYDAY AFTER THAT IT COMES LATER AND LATER. TO THE POINT WHERE BY FRIDAY I'M GETTING TO WORK 35-45 MIN LATE. I GET WRITTEN UP, DOCKED, AND COULD LOSE MY JOB BECAUSE OF THIS. YET, YOU GUYS HAVE THE AUDACITY TO SUGGEST FAIR HIKES.. MTA, WHAT ARE WE DOING.. TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THOSE WHO RELY ON YOU... LOOK FORWARD TO NOT HAVING TO ANYMORE...
My weekly was lost and after the rep Mr. Mansour, told me the mta doesnt consider that alot of money to reimburse,he then had the nerve to tell me. It was yours you should've held on to it. Excuse me! How dare the mta tell hard working people you lost it deal with it while they keep my HARD EARNED money. How disrespectful is that? How inconsiderate! What does that say to the majority of your rider-ship who work and value every dime they make? It says you don't care! Well I've had it! The mta is a greedy monopoly that feels it can do whatever they want, but I've had ENOUGH! I am getting back my 31.00!
Worst subway system of any civilized country. Trains often have delays (been waiting 40 minutes as of writing this for t he A train) , stations are dirty, announcements are always either useless or unintelligible, no public restrooms, and trains are loudly screeching while the tracks are not maintained.
