A decent zoo. I very much enjoyed the jaguar, blue hyacinth macaw and the tiger exhibits. The peacocks roaming were fun as well. While I do wish it had more things (lions, a hippo, an elephant, more reptiles in general) it is worth the money and an easy way to spend an hour or two.

My family and I did the year pass. You receive free tram rides with this pass. The zoo is clean and well maintained. The staff are friendly and willing to to help in any way. Nice gift shop and on site cafe. My ten year old enjoyed the activities that we discovered along the way. We hope to come back in the fall.
Not the greatest care for the animals, but other than that it's cute and small and if you're trying to teach your kids about animals it's a great place to interact with them just don't choose this if you're an animal rights person.
Our local zoo is awesome for the size of the town. They will always have my support to help them stay in town. Excellent amazonian exhibit with lots to see and special events all year long.
I am so in love with this zoo. It's clean, the animals seem well cared for, and I felt that we were closer to the animals than some places. I was very pleased with the price! I've been to other zoos that charge over $20 .
Was not what I expected. Local company's need to donate time and materials to get it in the shape it needs to be. They can write it all off on taxes. Personally I donate plenty and I dont own a company
It's very disturbing to me how skinny the tiger looks & you can tell he isn't being fed properly. Also the fact they got his enclosure right next to the Takin's enclosure is even more torture on this poor creature that he is forced to watch his food source being taunted right in front of him. This is animal cruelty & something needs to be done immediately!!!!!
We went last week and had a great time! There are some different pathways to the exhibits but it didn t impact our visit. I think all of the animals have really been flourishing with the smaller crowds.
Nice place nestled into Evansville. It was quiet. Several animals on display. Food court was fair. My daughter enjoyed the new carousel. Id visit again if i were in town.
We went the other day and the animals were all so active! We were able to see every single animal and all were out and doing something. Highly recommend it
Small which is great if you have small kid, can't walk as far as a bigger, ect I like that it doesn't take all day....get in get out.... unless your the type that wants to spend a full day at the zoo. Not me I got other things to do. It's always well kept and staff if friendly and helpful. The only thing I don't like is I don't see the paddle boat going. Maybe I go before Memorial day and after labor day so they are closed...not sure.
Only one person actually acknowledged my son and that was the man at the area with the goats and mini horse the rest where just there for a paycheck. The "token" system is a joke why cant I just pay for what i want at the gate and not be charged every time I turn around? The bird feeding area is nuts $2 per person for 2 cents worth of feed on a stick 90% of the birds didnt want anything to do with it anyway. $2 a pop for a piece of lettuce to feed the giraffes and you are very rushed through that. I seen the trolly twice in three hours. Was planning on eating at the cafe until we walked inside looked like a bunch of overpriced gas station food we passed on that. Some of the enclosures are to small and the simulated habitat crowds the area to where you cant see the animal half the time. Several birds in the enclosures just paced the fences I dont know what that was about maybe a territorial thing. The kids enjoyed it for the most part mainly because they didn't have to scale Everest three times over as flat as Indiana is they really couldn't have picked a worse spot to put a zoo.
It was fun but they did have things closed off not sure if it was due to covid but would have been better if they were open but it was fun hopefully if I go next time when I'm in town they will have more things open
Total waste of money and time very few animals. The walk to see nothing was long. We could have taken the tram but I'm glad we didn't spend more money for nothing. I'm very disappointed to say the least. The park was clean and the staff at the gift shop was friendly.
What a wonderful zoo! I always look for zoos when I travel and decided to take my 10 month old son around this one. Every exhibit was immaculate and the animals looked so happy and healthy. You could tell that the animal's care came first above all else. It was so refreshing to see everything being so well taken care of. As I said, we've been to many, many zoos and they aren't always so well managed. We went the day after a lot of flooding and it was quite windy so a few animals had chosen to stay indoors. Who could blame them?! The price of admission was also very reasonable and we can't wait to come back next time we're in Evansville!!
This was pleasant enough but not particularly outstanding. I went when the Amazonia exhibit had their orchid display which was stunning. I also enjoyed the snakes and lizards, but there wasn't much in the way of large animals. I was pleased to see the giant roaches. I do like insects and wish more zoos would showcase them.
The Mesker Zoo is a fun, family attraction. With a family membership, it is worth a regular trip to feed the giraffes, enjoy the paddle boats, and discover nature in a variety of habitats.
Overall, the zoo was nice. It was easy to navigate the park. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes because you do have to go up and down hills. The park was clean and kept up. Upset the paddle boats were not open. I also had concerns about some of the animals. Many of them looked sickly. The giraffes are pretty much kept in an unshaded, gravel parking lot. The Siberian tiger looked very distraught probably because lack of shade and limited space. There s plenty of unused space to make better living conditions for these animals.
my Daughter, granddaughter and her three young children and I recently visited this zoo for a weekend family time. The employee who sold us our tickets was very Nonprofessional. Obviously she had rather be somewhere besides at her station on this holiday. If you are not local an explanation of the fact That tickets are priced differently would be very helpful. The zoo itself was a nice setting but we all did not appreciate the very rude behavior of this lady. We did not even get a thank you. She has very limited people skills.
The zoo was fantastic in general. Moderately priced, cleanish, and not super crowded. Very interactive and well designed. Absolutely hated the fact that the big cats they had were in cages smaller then most of the bird cages. Absolutely disgusted by the size of the tiger cage and I will be contacting someone about it. Also the tiger looked very skinny and in a very very small cage that the tiger couldn't even do a lap in. It actually ruined the zoo seeing how these huge cats were in cages smaller then my hotel room. Disgusted by it and for sure will contact someone about it.
Went on Friday 9/7,out of town trip, with 2 year olds. We paid the full price and things were closed today like the paddle boats and the zoo trans, really the trans was closed. It would have been a trolly ride for them. There was other things closed as well. When you walk in they have water sprayers on. Well told the kids they could play in the water on the way out, got up there It was 3:30 they were already shut off. Yes I know they are 2 but they tried there best to get them on. Had workers all around never said a word. Here is what the times says right from website: "Visitors may explore zoo grounds until 5 pm, however, last admittance is at 4 pm and the exhibit buildings close at 4:30pm." Should of been on still. The playground was a little disappointing. The giffard feeding was the best part, and the lady that there today was the best. We did get to see animals too.
Yes I had 2 years old and they dont know what they missed out on, but I sure understand.
My family and I LOVE the zoo. We try to go several times a year. We all have a favorite animal of course that we must see and we enjoy how inviting and clean Mesker stays even when they are building new habitats and structures. I would recommend this zoo all day everyday.
A great place for the kids and grown-up to visit. The paths are steep in places but it is a good workout and there are places to rest. I started taking my granddaughter and was amazed at how much the zoo has improved since her dad was a kid. We've really enjoyed the trips there.
Reasonably priced, and it was a beautiful day, so what animals were there were out and about. Only downfall is that there were many closed exhibits. However, it could be due to the current pandemic. Other than that my family and I had a wonderful experience
My boy's loved the zoo, they advertise they have electric scooters not true told us the company from last year never brought them back so if you are looking to go and need a scooter call first or you will have to walk the whole zoo.
We became zoo members at Mesker this year, and have not regretted it at all. Over the summer, we went every other weekend and always had a great time. From riding the carousel, to feeding the budgies, to seeing our favorite animals do new things, it is never boring. Yesterday evening was our first time participating in Boo at the Zoo, and my husband and I had just as much fun as our 7 year old and 1 year old! The decorations were great and there was something cool to see or do at every turn. This zoo had made so many improvements over the year and seems to do its part in educating the masses on the importance of conservation and respecting our planets and its creatures.
The Amazon area and feeding the giraffe were our favorites! The tiger seemed lonely and very bored. He reminded me of why I'm not the biggest fan of zoos in general. All in all, it was a great walk and the zoo is kept clean. The staff we encountered were friendly, with the exception of 1 near the giraffe/zebra exhibit.
The best value is the Zookeeper level membership program. Enjoyed a cool afternoon seeing the various exhibits. A hidden jewel in Evansville... Daughter loves the carousel.
